I was here to visit the final resting place of Robert Ripley, the man who created the famous Odditorium and the man behind "Ripley's Believe It or Not." And in the process of finding it, there was a lot of searching and walking the cemetery. It is in very good condition, one of the "lawn" style cemeteries rather than "park" style. Laid out in lines with sections and lanes between them, it's an easy walk and in fact a number of folks were here that were clearly not mourners but walkers. I would suggest that if you are walking, do so respectfully and no, dogs are NOT permitted in the cemetery at any time. Ripley was born in Santa Rosa n 1890. He moved to New York in 1913 to work for the New York Globe. Writing a regular feature, it grew from weekly to daily publication and was soon syndicated to a variety of newspapers around North America. At the height of its popularity it was estimated that "Believe It or Not" was being read by daily by 80 million people. On May 27, 1949, Robert Ripley succumbed to a heart attack at the age of 59. He is buried alongside his parents here. Ripley's burial plot is in the LOT section that is sort of between the Santa Rosa Memorial Park and the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery. Lovely counselors and super friendly front desk staff made a really sad and tragic process a lot easier. I'm glad I made the decision to place my dad in a niche in the sunrise courtyard area, they've really cleaned it up and there's rose bushes near him now. When there was some minor damage to the granite on the front of my dad's niche, the assistant cemetery manager John was super helpful and got it fixed surprisingly fast. If you're looking for a spot to put loved ones in the area I would totally recommend giving them a call. read more

Such a hard thing to judge as it's a hard time when you have to deal with these emotional events. John was the one who helped every step of the way, guiding us through the process. It was slow and painful but in the end we got the beautiful art we were seeking. High resolution prints on metal made for outdoors! My Father, Uncle and Grandparents are buried in the Santa Rosa MemorShiloh Annex and I regret it every time I visit their graves. The grounds are deplorable. My family has complained many times but nothing ever changes. Weeds, dead grass, broken irrigation lines, dog feces; management should be ashamed. Visited my grandparents grave today and the surrounding turf has grown over their headstone. The gofers have completely taken over. There is minimal attention to the maintenance of this graveyard. If you bury a loved one here you should know that you will need to maintain the headstone before the lack of maintenance covers the marker read more

If I could put -5 stars I would!!! If you have a loved one that you want to lay to rest, DO NOT use Santa Rosa Memorial Park because your loved one will not rest in peace! I have been unfortunate enough to have to work with these people over the last few years due to losing some of the people closest to me. Their management team is horrific, they give you nothing but the runaround, there is no follow up, and they lie right to your face! That then trickles down to the landscape crew, who remove personal items from your gravestones, and discard them like they were trash! The upkeep of the cemetery is deplorable and regardless of how many times you complain, it will do you no good! If you are looking to lay your loved one to rest at a cemetery that is compassionate, caring, and respectful of you, your loved ones and your grief, I must say again do not use Santa Rosa Memorial Park!! read more

My daughter passed away in early April. This was during the early part of the Covid pandemic when restrictions had been placed on gatherings. John Morton, Family Service Manager at SRMP, was very helpful throughout the process. He initially set up an appointment for myself and two other family members to meet with him, following Health Department guidelines. We let him know that we wanted cremation, along with a burial plot, and an engraved stone. John provided information about the steps needed to be taken, along with the costs involved. He also met us at each of the three locations within the cemetary where plots were available for the burial of urns with the cremated remains and showed us the plots that were available for purchase. The charges for all services we requested were reasonable. After we agreed to use SRMP and signed the contract, John worked with us to schedule the cremation. That happened as scheduled. We deferred having the burial until Covid slowed down. The stone was not going to be ready for a few months due to Covid and the stone businesses not operating. In early December we scheduled and had the burial. SRMP was very accommodating. They had a canopy set up besides the grave site, with folding chairs for the family. When we were ready, the burial took place and the stone was placed. The stone was engraved just he way we requested. We have yet to have a service for my daughter. We are holding off until a large group can gather and participate. SRMP will be available to support it at that time. I am happy with SRMP. Ken read more

Super regret burying our loved ones here. The lawn is 80 percent weeds and 50 percent dead. They charge an arm and a leg to bury here, but thats all you get pretty much!!!! Once they take your money and the funeral is over, the upkeep of your relatives plot is horrible and pretty much non exsistent. Dead grass, weeds, lawn trampled down to bare dirt. We have to go out there to try to maintain the lawn at our loved ones plot, because they just dont do shit there!! Bury your family across the street at the Windsor Cemetary. They honor their dead. read more

I just visited my husband grave site at the Shiloh Memorial Park after a year. I was so upset about the conditions at the Park. Tried finding the flower holder, dug and dug and finally found it. It was so full of mud that I could not put the flowers in the holder. Had to just lay them on the headstone. The grounds are nothing but a gopher field. I am suppose to be buried next to my husband, but it was nothing but a bunch of gopher mounds. There is no I am going to be buried there. Tim Maloney you should be ashamed of yourself. My Grandparent's are interred at SRMP in the Hillcrest Mausoleum. Went to visit in the past weeks and there is a horrific odor in this mausoleum. Horrible, putred odor, smell of decay/decomp. Upon entrance, the smell about knocked me over. There were also air fresheners lining the corridors. My other family members noticed the same upon visits. I had to hold my hand over my nose just to walk through. There was also a notable, chemical type smell as well and my eyes started to burn. The lady at the front office is stating that the smell is "due to heavy rains over the past season and we have tried candles, etc to mask the odor". Something is very wrong inside that mausoleum! It's nightmarish!!! I will be following up on this!!!! read more

this place is a joke, my father was buried in nov 2020 i ordered his headstone online and it was delivered to the park 07/17/21 . I live in idaho and cant be there to see what they are doing. I was told 8 weeks ago , it was being sent out to be collard and as of today 09/22/21 it is still not down. this is unacceptable and unbelievable. I am wondering if they broke it or something. I paid over 1 grand for that and as of today still no call back. thats the other thing they have you leave messages and 3 of us have left messages and no calls back. my advice go elsewhere!!! read more

Update: we have since found out that my dads head stone was lost in the mail. However I was told by employees at Santa Rosa Memorial Park that it was received and needed to go through quality control??? Anyway, management got involved, contacted the VA to expedite the remaking and shipping of another head stone. Management did keep me informed and did contact me as they promised. Just an unfortunate experience I am sure a lot of families are going through during these times. read more

Well, this was mostly the cemetery where I visited. I am not sure about birthday party places here, but this was the cemetery where we just buried one of my grandmothers. It was very beautiful and vast. I have never actually been in one, so it was an interesting experience. The gentlemen that helped us was very sweet and helped us in remembering our grandmother/mother to some, and we laughed and cried, then watched her be lowered. They are not allowed to leave the area until the workers come to put the dirt on her, so that is kind of neat and safe. Overall good service and a pretty area. read more

I did not visit the location on Franklin Ave, I planned and attended a service at their "Annex" on Shiloh Road in Windsor for a loved one. The lawn looked really nice, it was green and recently mowed. Staff were friendly and polite and answered questions I had. Everything was set up and ready when the hearse arrived. I was greeted by a man named Herb who was extremely professional. The service went as planned and we watched the casket lowered at the end. I was concerned about the reviews I read on this page, and some of the photos are just ghastly, especially the one with the dead rodent. Prior to planning the service I spoke to a man named Sean in their office who is a manager and he assured me that the conditions were due to a combination of factors including short staffing during Covid and a history of problems with an outside lawncare company they had contracted with but they had a new company servicing that location and things were improved and will continue to improve "going forward" which I will follow up on in the future and update here. At this point I am please with the service and the experience and would not hesitate to bury another loved one at this cemetery. read more

Visited my husband on July 19, 2018 and found the same thing that bothers me..grass clippings from the lawn mower all over our otherwise beautiful grave topping. I've complained, but they won't even buy a grass catcher which would solve the problem. Very disrespectful. read more

My dear friend and sort of surrogate mother passed away in 2014 - burial was at Memorial Park and went beautifully. The grave marker also came reasonably quickly and looked beautiful. However, I've visited several times and noticed a few weeds and grass clippings and other issues (the lawn gets somewhat brown in August but so does mine so I guess they don't want to waste water but it still is a little frustrating) - I stopped by Saturday 8/24 and there was tall grass (weeds?) growing around the marker and it was almost covered up - I decided to go to the office and speak to someone - The (nice) lady said they've had a lot of problems with crab grass this year and said she would forward my concern to a manager on Monday but that it can sometimes take time for the crew to get to work orders because there are so many. I stopped by Saturday 8/31 (a week later) and was elated to see that the area had been leaned up, including dead flowers removed, the trash can emptied and the marker free of weeds / grass covering it. I think they might have leveled it too. I honestly expected to be leaving a negative review but I don't have to - The only reason this isn't a five star rating is because I had to stop in and bring the condition of the grave to their attention to begin with - Otherwise, from the service to the clean up of the grave this past week I am completely satisfied. read more

It is to bad that I am leaving a bad review for this Memorial Park. The funeral they did went very well and was very good and met all of our expectations. It was their customer service and care that was bad. As the funeral was prepared we made arrangements with the Memorial Park for the deceased headstone. We met with John the Salesman at the park to make a deposit and submit our special requests. We chose the headstone we wanted, and requested two pictures be mounted on the headstone, also we requested that the family be notified when the headstone would be ready to place because we wanted to perform a ceremony for the deceased. John approved and agreed to our special requests. As we were in the middle of Winter(September) John explained to us that it may be awhile before the headstone could be placed due to the wet ground at the burial site. We accepted that and reiterated our request about notification. We were contacted a couple months later on some adjustment to the script to accommodate the pictures. We approved them, and then were notified that the stone was complete, and they wanted final payment. We made the final payment and were assured the headstone was complete, but would not be placed for a little while. The stone was finally placed 9 months later with NO notification to the family. We discovered it in place at a visit to the site. We were all very upset because not only was it placed with NO notification to the family, they also placed it incomplete. The pictures requested and paid for were not on the headstone. The widow called John the Salesman and let him know we were all very upset about the headstone. He assured us he would look into it and let us know why we were not notified and why it was placed incomplete. Two weeks went by, John was no longer returning phone calls and nothing had been done to fix the headstone. Finally the widow contacted Tim the Director of Santa Rosa Memorial Park, and she was told he didn't know anything about the problem. The widow was in tears as she confronted the Director. He assured her he would take care of the problem. It was fixed the next day, but only after her call to the director. As apologetic as Tim was, we have still not been told how it happened. We were very upset with the treatment we received from John the salesman. After our initial complaint he mad no attempt to follow up with us. I was very concerned to find out that Tim the Director had not been made aware of this problem. To us it was a big deal. Be warned if you use this facility and are dealing with John in Sales be careful. We feel he has very poor customer service, poor follow up, poor communications, and does not seem to care about much once they are paid. read more
