We stopped here for a late lunch. We are new in the area so we wanted a home-cooked type of meal. Although the place does not look like much from the outside, do not be deceived! It's actually a nice restaurant and the waitresses have great customer service. The food was amazing! It's really unfortunate I even have to write this but the staff here quite simply does not care about making things right for their customers....even repeat customers such as myself that would order take out here multiple times a month. I ordered a fajita taco salad with grilled chicken and it came with no chicken. I called, spoke with a man who said he was sorry the cook in the back is new but not very good and won't be working there much longer (as if that was appropriate to share). He said he'd write my name down and give me a credit on my next order. I then proceed to eat barely half of this salad that absolutely didn't satisfy me at all only to get a voice-mail from him saying "oh hey, the cook said the chicken was put on the side." Cool you tell me this now... I find the side of chicken and its pulled seasoned chicken not grilled chicken like the menu description says. I've ordered this tons of times and it always comes grilled and inside the salad mixed in. That's the entree. So today, I place another order and tell the server who's checking me out about what happened and even showed her pictures of the no chicken salad and the side portion of chicken I found later on and she proceeds to argue with me to say "well, how do I know you didn't order it like that? You may have ordered it wrong. I'm not the one you spoke with so there's nothing I can do about it." I told her this isn't customer service...why would a guest lie about this? And why would you want to lose a guest over this because you "can't just believe what I say." Well Roxanna, if that's even your real name. You made your restaurant look bad because you're rude, disrespectful, and don't know how to provide good customer service if a manual hit you in the face. Well, screw you then Santa Rosa... (heck of a name btw) I will never spend my money here again and I will make sure all my friends and family hear about how poorly you treat your customers. read more

I found this restaurant through Yelp. My boyfriend and I decided to try it out and I'm so glad we did! The food was very flavorful and fresh. My boyfriend had the Carne asada platter and I had the Camarones a la Crema paired with a patron margarita. We've lived in California and Arizona, and miss good Mexican food dearly! Tried Santa Rosa tonight, and they did not disappoint! Quick and efficient takeout - everyone had their correct order, nothing missing! Food was delicious. My tacos al pastor and side order of pork and cheese papusa were on point. The best Mexican food in Maryland. Their food is so consistent, I've been coming here for the past 7 years and I've never once been on a bad night. The dishes taste the same every time, absolutely delicious:) Everything on the menu is amazing but some of my favorites are the pupusas and the steak fajitas. Their margaritas are great too:) the staff is very sweet and attentive, even on busy nights they really go out of their way to make sure everyone is having a good experience. If I rate the the food I'll have to give it the highest rating. Food is very good. However, since they don't deliver, I joined Door Dash to have a delivery option. As a senior citizen I don't always enjoy going out to pick up my take outs. Two times now my order has arrived missing an article that I paid for. When I called Santa Rosa to inform them they told me I HAD TO CALL DOOR DASH. Not sure I understand how Door Dash should be held responsible since THEY DIDNT PREPARE THE ORDER AND BAG ITS CONTENTS FOR DELIVERY!!! But that's what I've had to do HOPING THAT DOOR DASH WILL CREDIT ME FOR SANTA ROSA's mistake. Im pretty disgusted about how this has turned out and not at all sure I'll continue eating there. Came here for lunch with my daughter and grandkids after a football game. We were greeted warmly - the staff is very friendly. Chips and salsa are OK but nothing great, but kept the kids happy while we waited for our food. We started with pupusas - cheese, loroco and pork. Very tasty and generous portions. LIked the cheese and loroco better than the pork, And one cheese pupusa makes a great meal for a toddler! Salvadoran food is good here. I had the CAMARONES ENTOMATADOS (shrimp with tomatoes). The shrimp was large, fresh and properly cooked and the tomato sauce and vegetables had a great kick. The lacharra beans are scrumptious. Nice smokey flavor. Mexican food is solid. My husband had pork tacos - loved them! Daughter had enchiladas with tomatilla sauce and cleaned her plate as well. In summary, a very solid Mexican/Salvadoran restaurant. Food is tasty - won't blow your socks off - but certainly one of the better options for this food in Frederick. 4 stars for the entire package - friendly staff, good food and VERY reasonable prices. read more

So delicious! We are very picky about our Mexican and Salvadoran food and usually don't bother trying anywhere unless we are back home visiting family in L.A. or NYC. But we were blown away. Fresh, delicious, nice level of heat, but still can be enjoyed by a kid who sometimes thinks ketchup is spicy. According to my 9 year old the fish tacos deserve 10000 stars. Don't skimp and miss out on desert I haven't had Tres Leches cake this good since I lived in the Bronx. The flan was outstanding. A hidden gem. I'll keep it short. Steak Ranchero was the best I've had in all of Frederick. Wife loved her nachos and the pupusas were on point! Even with the lockdown the service was quick, no issues with the order and food was still hot when we got home. read more

Was slightly worried when I walked into an empty restaurant at 11:30am, however, I am glad I didn't let an under-abundance of customers dissuade me from trying this place. A restaurant's chips and salsa is a great way to gauge what to expect in your meal. I had to rush home and didnt have time to dine in but had 2 dinner orders to go. Sat in the restaurant to wait on orders and was informed that if I got salsa and chips that I would charged since I was getting take out yet I paid the same amount for a dinner I would have eaten there. Ridiculous policy. As far as the food goes...smallest papusa I've ever been served, soggy fried bananas and the condiments were tied in a bag like a drippy condom and leaked on to my car seat. Lovely surprise. Marvelous central american food in a nice setting. Pollo saltado was fabulous; tender delicious filling. The Camarones plantada (?) were cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Even a simple tamale de pollo was xlnt. The cabbage slaw was cooked but not overdone. Maybe best since xihutanejo. We skipped desert and took home mucho leftovers. read more

We order take out from this restaurant 2x a month, and are never disappointed. The food is fresh and fast- I wish it was a little cheaper, but I'm more than happy to find something so good in Frederick, and while I never eat in the restaurant, it's definitely nice for date night or a casual dinner. My trick to ordering here is to make good use of the ala carte and appetizer menus- I always order pork pupusas, and chicken tamales... and then usually one or two platters of soft tacos and enchiladas. Their pupusas are a little greasy, but overall very flavorful and really, darn tasty. For me, this is great, mostly-authentic food that I find myself craving frequently. So it's made my (very short) list of restaurants where I'm a regular :) read more

Not that fast took over an hour and a half for our food really! But the food was good though so that is the only good part plus the bar tender did not show up as well so also that is why to and there is a really big table that all of them were just screaming at the top of their lungs and they were hogging up the whole restaurant!!! I think the best part about this place is how fresh the food seems to be. Every single item we had was delicious from the salsa to the guacamole to the fajitas to the enchiladas. Just great, unique flavor! The service was very good too which is something we have kind of struggled with since moving to the Frederick area. The salsa was kind of tasteless, salty, and tomatoes were not ripe enough. Chicken pasteles were good - different to what I've tried before. Fried tamales were interesting too. It was my first time trying out Salvadorean food, so I found the shrimps on white cream quite good, but very heavy. Don't think I'll order it again. My husband ordered the BBQ beef burrito, but it was so burned, that we had to send it back. Service was OK. Atmosphere was OK. Overall it was good for trying out Salvadorean food, but for Mexican, I'll stay with Fajita Grande or Mariachis. read more

Wooooow! In 50 states in this United States of America you won't find a better " al pastor taco" don't get me wrong there are good ones here and there but this place truly shows they care in their quality of meat and flavor. Nothing like a Mexico City Al pastor taco but that's basically because here laws prohibit the traditional flame to cook your meat right before it's sliced on to your tortilla. Green salsa for the taco was excellent. We tried the al carbon tacos as well and they were a 9 of 10! Very very good . Very reasonably priced and if I may say it is a little underpriced ! The refried beans were to die for ! My wife had the cheese and chicken enchiladas . She states those compared to all others she's had across the country were an 8 of 10 so again very very good ! Now for dessert we ordered the flan . If you've had Mexico stand flan this is what this is like very good . If you like homemade thick and creamy flan this is not it. Yumm worth trying ! They have a very nice menu with a large variety of Tex mex , Mexican and Salvadorenian cuisine. We will definitely be back and try other things ! We will update this next time . 12/14/2013 . Santa Rosa is Frederick's best El Salvadorian restaurant. They've got wonderful service and fair prices for the substantial portions of their entrees. If you're looking for classic Mexican, though, they've got you covered. My family has been going for years and we've tried most of the menu. Everything comes out hot and fresh. They moved to a larger location a couple of years ago, and it's easy to understand why once you've tried their food. I recommend the Tacos al carbon, the bistéc encebollado or any of the Mexican combination platters! read more

After attempting (one was permanently closed which I did not know beforehand a mexican restaurant and another one that is highly rated online, but turned out to be absolutely terrible; I had my sister go to Santa Rosa for some carryout food for an early dinner. (we have never been there before). Wow, were we impressed! We've been back twice in one week. The first time, I got the chicken chimichangas. Fabulous. Filled with juicy, all white meat chicken that was delicious. Last night, I got the taco salad fajita with grilled steak. It was perfect. So delicious and so fillng. Everything is fresh and hot.
