I come here once or twice a month on weekends with my family. The food and drinks are on point every time. Delicious meals. I've tried their pupusas de queso and loroco. I've also tried sopa de res. Went for lunch today, I ordered beef fajitas cooked rare, when the dish came out if had chicken and beef. I told the waiter that's not what I ordered, but chose to accept it anyway. The beef and chicken were way over cooked and the amount of salt in the fajitas and beans was the breaking point. I sent it back and they took it off my bill. This place is a joke. Food it's ok, is not so authentic, dishes definitely missing portions or part of authenticity. I tried for the first time their carne asada which is the most popular dish for spanish, the dish definitely was missing a few things. Advice, a good grilled jalapeño, slice of cheese which should never be missed and the slice of avocado besides that it will definitely complete the dish..... A piece of steak with rice and beans is not authentic. Please be more authentic with your dishes or do some research if you're not familiar with your food. read more

My friend & I were driving through MD to our homes in DE and wanted some Mexican food for lunch. We found Santa Rosa nearby and entered. I've had plenty of Mexican food, as Philadelphia is my hometown with limitless Mexican restaurants, but not like this. The establishment is owned by Salvadorians (we asked) and they do a twist on Mexican food and it's better. It was a shocking surprise how delicious the food was. First of all, they had horchata. That alone says a lot about a Mexican restaurant. My friend ordered taco de lengua, and it was so tender and delicious. I ordered sopa de mariscos and it was amazing. The assortment of seafood was impressive. I can still taste the flavors. Their chips & salsa was typical. They didn't have habanero sauce. How can you not have habanero sauce!?!?? Oh, they're not Mexican. This was my 2nd time having Salvadorian food (once outside of NYC and ordered pupusas). The first time wasn't as memorable, but I still think about this restaurant. I never had anything like this in my life and it was so good. Once I have more time, my friend & I are going to drive back to Frederick, MD just to eat there again. I want to try other things on the menu and order things to bring back home. It's worth the 2 hr drive. read more

Amazing food staff is super friendly. We ordered smoked pork ribs and pollo ala creama. Ribs didnt need a knife at all smoky tender juicy perfection. The chicken was very flavorful w lots of amazing sauce and the best cooked rice we have ever eaten. Food was hot fresh and we were served within a timely manner wait time was 10-15 minutes. Nice clean restaurant hidden in a small shopping strip. Huge menu with great lunch combinations. There are many items for $6 and $7 for lunch. Chips were great but salsa was a bit salty and bland. Great Mexican/Salvadoran food. I had a combination fajita platter with delicious chicken, beef, shrimp and sausage. The only improvement would be if they served a bigger side portion of guacamole. Wow, nice little Mexican/Salvadorean gem nearly-hidden among the cookie cutter chains in this area of Frederick. The interior (and the menu) are larger than you expect from the outside. Lots of lunch specials and combos -- I had a fantastic carne asada burrito with rice, beans, guac. Their chips were delicious, crisp and perfectly salted. Salsa was fresh. All this plus a soda for 9 bucks. Cheaper, tastier and surely more "authentic" than Chipotle. Service was nice as could be, friendly and efficient. Floors and tables were CLEAN! I wanted this place to be so much better, however the looooooong wait for our food to come, coupled with the soggy fried bananas (yep, not plantains as on the menu) gives this place a solid two stars. The camarone Diablo was at best decent...the mac n cheese, yep blue box kind. So if you're looking for very basic fare, this place is on list, just not at the top. read more

Fantastic Mexican/el salvadorian food. Homemade gourmet taste - you can tell it is made with care and craft. Salsa fresca and tortillas are great. (it's not supposed to be spicy). We got- Two hard tacos- ground meat- really tasty, came with cheese lettuce and tomato. Simply done and very satisfying. From the ala carte menu Carne asada taco platter- perfect portion, meat was well done but flavorful Two chicken enchiladas- no complaints, very filling, from the ala carte menu Taco salad with ground meat- fresh, refreshing Three pork pupusas- came with red dipping sauce, a bit greasy but really tasty- could have eaten just these for dinner and been fine One kids quesadilla- was eaten up with no complaints Three chicken tamales- delicious, simple and filling. Wish these came with a tomato salsa... Though that may not be traditional Overall- this is our new favorite place for Mexican food. Absolutely fabulous! My fiancé and I would go here often for lunch. Great service and even better food! The restaurant is cozy and quaint with several TV's usually playing soccer games. Plus, they have a wide variety of food for anyone in your party that isn't an open to trying new things. The other day I got out of a dentist appointment at lunch time and was hungry so when I saw this restaurant in the same building I stopped in.
