Great local food from a business that supports other local businesses.
    Valarie D.

This place is the real deal. When we moved to Maryland from California, we searched high and low to find really good Mexican food. The 1st 18 months, while living in Silver Spring, we got our Mexican food fix from a taco truck parked at a gas station. We aren't fancy people. After moving to Urbana, the search continued. After hit and miss, we stumbled upon a new storefront in Buckeystown, that was being opened to support their food truck business. Our long search was over. We visit Traditional Authentic Mexican Food's storefront at least once a month. They make traditional Mexican tamales, like the ones found in bakeries in East LA. We have ordered and enjoyed them for the last 2 years. Their street tacos are amazing - get the Pastor. You're welcome The enchiladas; delicious. The street corn - OMG. And the ownership is wonderful. Teressa single-handed saved our Hanukkah celebration. Thank you Their food trucks can be found frequently at various local breweries, serving selections from their menu. They can cater parties and weddings. They have supported local school PTAs through Food Truck nights. Please support this restaurant and other local businesses so that we can have good options in our neighborhoods. Below is a photo of the logo on their storefront and trucks. I would post food photos, but we ate the evidence

The tacos (carnitas, al pastor, chorizo, chicken), loaded nachos, and street corn were excellent.

They serve several breakfast dishes all day. I had the Huevos de Mexicans--which came with rice and beans for carry out. It was great! I will definitely go back. I also liked how they have covered outdoor seating. Cafe Bueno is located conveniently close to Shan row in downtown Frederick. Best of all, they had margaritas to go--so I took some home, since it was Cinco de Mayo!

Based on current reviews something has obviously happened. The server was nice and pleasant and the ability to sit outside is nice. However, our kiddos chicken fingers and fries were OBVIOUSLY undercooked. The chicken tacos were average at best and light on the meat if nothing else. The steak burrito meat literally looked like chopped steakums not an actual cut of steak. We haven't been this disappointed in a long time. Cafe bueno was no bueno. They are charging just as much as some of the other mid to high end Mexican restaurants so you can definitely do better in Frederick.

I saved the rice and beans afterwards because it was so good. And the Tacos al Carbon were amazing!! Literally the best we've ever had - including at some of the best NY restaurants. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that it took almost an hour to get our food. We came New Year's eve for lunch so it became busy, but I wish the management had planned better and not just had one server (later they added a second). Def eat here!

It was right when they had opened so that's the main reason for the little traffic. The decorations were nice and colorful and the music was perfect. It was a good mix of classical and modern day music. Everything was very clean. The food was fresh and delicious. My wife liked the idea that the lengua was cooked then grilled. The ceviche was very fresh. The cheese stayed melted and the "cheese pull" was a 9 out of 10. The steak was perfectly seasoned and super tender. The burrito filling was a good balance and stuffed with meat. This restaurant ensures that the protein out-weighs the veggies and not too many places do that. This was highly awesome and, not to mention, filling. We had a couple of cervesas but they didn't have it in a draft; bottle only. I also ordered the margarita w/ cononita and a passion fruit Mojito. The mojito was freshly made and strong . Just gotta drink it fast because of the paper straw . Overall, I will definitely be coming back for the amazing food... AND THE DRINKS!

Well, we were sorely disappointed in what arrived. Including a picture of my Lengua taco. I asked for no onions but keep the cilantro and add cheese and tomato's. Instead, they gave me a horribly tiny portion of meat and nothing else [smh]. My husband was excited to get a breakfast plate. It did not have 1/2 of what was described (no cheese, no avocado, and only a mouthful of rice!). Additionally the eggs were supposed to have "peppers, onions and tomatoes" in them. The peppers were JALAPEÑOS! Loaded. Almost an inedible joke. And, they forgot to send the pupusa I ordered.... Again, very sad. Never again. I can't justify a second chance based on what they served. No pride in what they sent out tonight.

The lady at the register saw me taking pics of the menu and grabbed a paper menu to take with me. I will definitely stop by again and try some of their hot items.
