If you're going in there just for the drinks, the food is very good. Service was also good. DELICIOUS!!! Frederick Platter shredded chicken was so good. Chicken was perfection. Best refried beans Ive ever had! Moist and spiced like Ive never had beans spiced. Guacamole was fresh and sweet and flavorful. Chicken and steak fajitas came out sizzling, smelled fantastic! Really really good!! Horchata was sweet, cinnamony, and refreshing! My fiance put me onto this place and I was astonished how good it was. Since last year we have had both take out and sat there. The food is amazing, they give generous portions, and you will leave feeling full. Whenever I finish a meal here I get sad because the food is gone and I want more. People go to restaurants for food AND service so you would expect the employees to provide customer service and it's something everyone here lacks starting off with the man working there looks like the manager. I'm "picky" about my Mexican tacos and let's just say these are the BEST tacos. No place has matched their tacos, they're so so delicious. Definitely order the tacos. That I do give them the full five stars!! They have other yummy food that I enjoy like the Combinación Salvadoreña, La Parrillada,etc.. I gave it 4 stars because I tried their salmon with shrimp in crema and it was salty... :( and the shrimp is not whole, they cut it up into tiny pieces. Also the soups are sometimes hit or miss. But other than that I love their food!! I order takeout here (i never eat inside so can't speak for that) no joke every week. Also LOVE how their meals have rice and beans which is also very yummy! Los Trios was an interesting dining experience to say the least..... The mood was rather festive; loud, club-like, music playing in Spanish, soccer playing on one large TV, and many people gathered around the bar speaking loudly. I am assume this place turns into more of a bar scene in the evenings after 7pm or so. If I knew this before we walked in, I wouldn't have come in. I prefer a more quiet and intimate dinner scene. There must have been some sort of disagreement at the bar while we were dining. One waitress and another man had to some-what forcefully escort another man out. A slightly uncomfortable situation to whiteness.... Thank goodness the food was good! I would like to say many of the dishes seemed to be more authentic than most other "Americanized" Mexican restaurants, but I am far from an expect in Mexican cuisine. I cannot recall the exact name of the dishes my partner ordered. We traded tastes of each other's meals and we both agreed to all three dishes being above par. The cost of each dish is rather affordable, too. I doubt we will come back to dine-in unless it is lunch time. The food here is GREAT! Fresh, hot and delicious. Service could use some work. Here's why: 1. Ordered a drink from the bar and was asked for ID. I provided my license and was asked for another form of ID because the server (who I think was the manager and the only English-speaking person there) didn't know if my New Jersey driver's license was authentic. I had to ransack my wallet because I've never not been able to just show my license and keep it moving. What was even more frustrating is he didn't card my bestfriend, who is actually older than me. 2. When it was time to pay, I wanted to use my Restaurant.com gift card. Granted, it was from 2013, but the fine print indicates that it never expires. He refused to grant it claiming it was too old and the restaurant has new owners. We settled on a $12 discount for the food instead of the $25 off. Luckily, I enjoyed my meal so much, that I will be returning. Just know that the manager nit-picks over almost everything! read more

If you're expecting crunchy tacos with hamburger meat, iceberg lettuce, and a puddle of refried beans with cheese on top, then yeah, you're going to be disappointed--this is not that kind of Mexican restaurant. It's true that some of the wait staff don't speak the best English. Deal with it--it won't kill you. I've never failed to communicate my order with a bit of patience and good humor. Do come here if you're looking for good Mexican, Tex-Mex, and Salvadoran food, carefully prepared from fresh ingredients. Poor quality food, salsa was like eating diced tomatoes from a can. No flavor in any of the food. We were having lunch after a college visit and wanted to try something in town. Liked the look from the outside and the patio looked very welcoming. However there was a 45min wait for outside so we sat inside. It was FREEZING inside. Cold air blowing on us constantly. Very dirty and we were seating near the bar with dirty dishes sitting next to us the entire time. Service was so-so, not very attentive but nothing overtly bad either. Every now and then my order will have a mistake but I think that's mainly because their servers are bartending at the same time so they're just a little understaffed. Straight dumpster fire "Mexican" food. Went in to have a small bite and the waitress didn't speak English at all (which is ok if I spoke Spanish). No one was in there either and it was dinner time. Menus were sticky and prices scratched out and rewritten in pen. Another waiter came to table and we ordered (he spoke English). I asked for strawberry daiquiri and it came out as a smoothie with no alcohol in it at all. They remade it and it tasted like entire bottle of rum had been dumped into a melted milkshake. Los Trios is a Salvadoran/Mexican restaurant serving authentic, delicious food. We make special trips to Frederick, from Pittsburgh, just to eat at this restaurant. The prices are reasonable, the cooking is down-home authentic, and they are putting their profits back into the restaurant, which looks better each time we visit. Forget all the hip-restaurants-of-the- moment; Los Trios serves consistently very, very good south of the border food. OMG the best Mexican that have had by far (and I eat Mexican 2-3Xwk)! Whether outside or inside the atmosphere is wonderful. The staff was great. The manager saw us standing and even though we were close to being called he had us seated immediately (2 people at a four person table) because in his opinion we had been waiting too long (are you kidding it was only 15 min)! The mango margarita was just the beginning. We were happy with the margaritas, chips and salsa then came the combination platters. I had a taco, enchillada and ............. oh who cares it was great. The guitarist stood and played near our table until I felt like dancing. Appeared to be a great date place but there were plenty of small children also several birthday parties. Plenty of space, a full bar, patio dinning and 3 seating areas.
