But there are great stores and restaurants nearby for convenience. We stayed here 5 days September. We were in the pull-thrus right across from the lake. The lake is pretty with many water birds. They allow catch and release fishing and kayaking. There is a sign that there may be alligators but we didn't see any. The site was long enough for our 32 ft travel trailer and pickup to be in. We had full hookups that were in good condition. There was a picnic table and grass on the door side and a beautiful palm tree on the driver's side. It was a nice area to put chairs and enjoy the lake or there were benches to sit and relax. There was a pool and other amenities that we did not try but looked nice. It will be fun going back when I can use these things! Office staff was friendly and helpful. They take Passport America at least in summer. I definitely recommend Pleasant Lake RV Resort!! Had socially distanced activities and most everyone using masks. Such a pretty resort and had only bikes for transportation and close to stores, restaurants and CVS. A lot of people said they start with RV's and soon look for mobile homes as permanent residents. Will love to return! Great having the fruit and veg truck deliver on Fridays.

The island which is advertised on their webpage was restricted to pedestrians only and has since been totally closed. This means no more nature walks, no barbecuing, no picnics, no kayaking, no fishing, no boating, no screened clubhouse, no river views. Yet, Sun Communities have sky rocketed lit rentals for this "privilege " AVOID!!!

We did the sunset tour and it was a great way to end our day. Captain Brian was so knowledgeable…read moreand so much fun. There were 8 of us in the boat, but I think it may have been possible to have a couple more. After checking in at the food shack Captain Brian directed us to the boat that was waiting for us in the river. We purchased our tickets online and we also had waivers to sign before we even got there. Captain Brian pointed out points of interest as we sailed down the river. My favorite part was "bird island". Hundreds of birds..... big ones, little ones, colorful ones, and noisy ones. It was so neat. Once we got back to the landing we spent the remainder of our tour waiting for the sun to go down. It was beautiful. We also saw a few alligators. None seemed to be very big, but who knows what the water was hiding. Captain Brian was disappointed that there weren't more gators for us to see, but he figured they were all off elsewhere looking for "love" as it is now mating season. I would definitely recommend this tour.

We only stayed in the downstairs suite, but we hope we can return and have a vacation with my sister & her dog in the other suite. With the owner next door and hospitable and solicitous, we felt quite at home. Great place for the dogs; securely fenced to contain dogs even as small as my 20-lb cocker (and perhaps smaller). The gardens--stunning, incidentally--were packed with so many flower beds, with walkways between them; so many places for the dogs to explore, investigate, and most importantly, sniff. For once, we had as much fun as the dogs, waiting for a spaniel's "need to sniff EVERYTHING and explore ALL THE SCENT TRAILS" to be over; the gardens were that enjoyable. Also a park across the street, and the beach a few blocks away. _Great_ place for dogs. We found a lot of listings for local restaurants and attractions that were dog-friendly, but we didn't have time to explore them this trip. The house was nicely private, enough that my howling dog didn't appear to disturb anyone while we were gone. (And it is a shrill, piercing howl, let me tell you. Space/privacy is what I primarily look for in a vacation rental.) He also apparently howled less than usual; perhaps he was more comfortable in this nice place. Very comfortable place, lots of room for anything we wanted to do. I just wish we'd had a little more time to enjoy it. Next time we will :)

Mixed bag; let's do the good, the bad and the ugly:…read more The Good: very friendly staff, very clean common areas, a decent smattering of pre-packaged and warmed up breakfast options (including a waffle maker), coffee bar, some cozy outdoor seating, a small business center and a small but usable workout room. Nice towels, too, btw. Oh, and showers and a/c work very well, which is very important, obvs. The Bad: storage drawers and closet are kinda small, and there are maintenance and housekeeping gaffs that are more like 1 star road motel level (including pet hair in my fridge, weird stains on my upper wall, and a broken locking mechanism on my ground-floor window - also, my door had to be slammed to actually throw the latch, which made me feel bad for my neighbors). The "pool" is smaller than my spa at home, btw, though probably a nice cool down for summer patrons. Also, they service your room once every three days unless you request otherwise at the front desk. The Ugly: there is a local pervasive and consistent smell outside akin to a rotten grease trap... it's nasty and sometimes sit right on the place, other times blows through, but EVERYONE noticed it. Unknown cause, but it was very close to rendering plant/blown septic tank/open sewage/land-fill levels of offensive.
