However, based on Santhoff's response to my original rating we clearly have a difference of opinion about backing up your work. Plumber came out for service fee of $69 for water spilling out of the a/c furnace area and he said there was a clog and if I wanted it unclogged he could give me an estimate and the fee would be applied if I had him do the work. He gave me an estimate of $447 which seemed really high but I let him do the work. It took less than an hour for him to unclog it with a snake and then the charge was 447 plus 69 so the total was $516!!! Apparently I have since learned that this is about 3x the normal rate. A good example of dishonesty with the rate and taking advantage of a female. I should have gotten bids but was worried. This company gives the plumbing business a bad name. read more

I have had really good experiences with Santhoff. I have an old home and they do all the plumbing work. As a Realtor, I have referred many of my clients to Santhoff as well. Some jobs little, and some huge. I've never heard any negative feedback. I have dealt with the owner on more than one occasion, and he has always been polite and responsive. They have always responded quickly and have mostly been there when they have said they were going to be there. If there was a delay, I was contacted and told there was a delay. I don't have a problem with that because it must be difficult to tell how long a job will take and if they are working on another job, you can't expect them to just leave it unfinished and go on to the next appointment. No company is perfect but when the owner of a company takes time to thank me for my business, I'm impressed. read more

This company is horrible for customer service. I scheduled an appointment for Saturday 2-17-2024 for a window for 11-1. I called to confirm if they were still going to be there for 1 and the service technician stated that he didn't know because they have a big job. So I questioned as to when they were going to call me and let me know that because I had been waiting and I thought that the communication was very poor. So basically I would have been waiting and no one had the decency to contact me to let me know they running late. When I talked to the one of the Santhoff owners he stated to reschedule and I was okay with that but I did tell him that was poor customer service and his attitude was "well you can find another company" so unfortunate. read more

An extremely dishonest company. Initially called to ask what it would cost to diagnose an issue with our water heater and was told it was $49. Upon arrival, the service tech said it was $150 min to call the manufacturer plus parts. Tried really hard to sell their lack of service and complexity of the tankless water heater without even looking at the setup or the manufacturer. Spoke to the service dispatch person after discussing what had happened and the person who originally answered the phone only disclosed the $49 service fee but not the $150 to do any actual work. Hard to imagine that's standing behind their work and being an honest company when there wasn't disclosure of the costs. Similar feedback to other reviews about a bait and switch type approach. Please consider using other vendors if possible. read more

I've used this plumbing company before at a rental house, they did the work pretty well. I was a little annoyed that they didn't finish up some details in the back yard but I overlooked that. So when we had the freeze , we called them again. We weren't sure what was going on, one sink would not drain. The plumber came out, when we declined a whole house camera pipe test, he ran a wire about 4 feet into the drain, pulled it out, said there was dirt in the pipe, it had collapsed took $350, and left. Husband ran a smaller version of the wire machine the next day-turned out to be coffee grounds and he was able to free up the clog. Contacted the owner, he backed up the plumber and wouldn't refund the $300. ($50. was the service call) Awful, I feel taken advantage of. read more

On Saturday morning I contacted two plumbing companies around 8:00 a.m. via their website forms. I didn't expect to hear from anyone until Monday (yesterday). To my surprise, a very friendly Juan with Santhoff immediately called me at 8:26 a.m. He suggested that they could assign one of their plumbers to me on Monday in the 9-11 window. Yesterday (Monday), I received a text at 8:44 a.m. with the name and picture of my plumber. At 8:54 a.m. Jason D. called me to tell me he would arrive in twenty-three minutes. Twenty-two minutes later, a smiling Jason and his apprentice were at my door. They moved furniture around to get to the problem, fixed the problem, and explained what they did. This morning (Tuesday) I just received a call from the second company inquiring if I needed their services... Santhoff is fast, offers friendly and extremely professional service, and their people are knowledgeable. I especially appreciate their use of technology to keep customers safe and informed. Santhoff replaced a water heater for us last year. So, when our bathroom pedestal sink developed restricted water flow issues, we called Santhoff to find and fix the problem. Jose arrived on-time and without complaining about having to wrestle with a pedestal sink, found a clogged "water saver" part and solved our problem. He secured the wobbly bowl to the wall and pointed out a old-style flex hose at the adjacent toilet that should be replaced (I will do this). We have used Santhoff Plumbing for many years and each experience has been very positive. In particular, I had a sudden pipe leak yesterday and called the emergency line. Manual stopped by in 15 minutes or less to help locate the source of the leak and shut the water down to that source. This is an old-fashioned company-they stand behind their work and all of their plumbers are professional and have a great skill set. I can't imagine using another company. I feel like their pricing structure is very competitive, and there have been no service or billing problems. They are not the biggest plumbing company in Houston, but one of the best. I called right at 7am on a Friday because we had a gas leak in our attic on our furnace and Centerpoint had to turn our gas off. Anyways, they were slammed with clients all over Houston whose pipes had burst during the freeze and were still able to fit me in first thing so we could get it all fixed and our heat on in our house. I would not recommend this company. They quote you a $49 charge to come to your house. However, when they get there, they will charge you $165 per hour to diagnose where the leak is. Then, they will charge you another fee to fix the leak. In my situation, the charge to fix the problem was $650. A total of $864. I ended up paying the $49 + $165 for them to diagnose that there was a leak. I then found another company to fix the leak for $180. read more

Cannot recommend Santhoff Plumbing Company highly enough. James came out late evening yesterday after heavy winds had blown out the burner flame. I could not get the pilot igniter to kick in. Our upstairs bathroom drain was clogged. Our a/c unit drain was connected to that drain. Our charge was $605 to clear the drain. We don't believe that the drain was unusual. Our house is a typical Village Builder home in a neighborhood. We asked the office to review our bill. They indicated it was all in order. I would not recommend Santhoff Plumbing Company for anything more than the simplest plumbing issue (replacing a fixture?). We used them for over 10 years for minor plumbing problems but when we had serious issues and really needed help, they were a huge disappointment and ultimately cost us a lot of extra money, time, frustration, loss of use of our sinks, showers and toilets, and water damage to our home. I had them out recently for two different, serous issues and both times they failed to give a thorough diagnosis of the problem, did not explain to me that the problem was not fixed when they left (even though the invoice said "drain cleared"...it was not), AND, never followed up with an estimate for the repairs they said we needed. Frankly in retrospect, I think they were just lazy, didn't really want to do the hard work that would have been involved, and had no motiviation to do a good job for the customer. When our problem occurred again, weeks after Santhoff had been out, we called another plumbing company and they spent 4 1/2 hours looking for where the problem was that was causing our toilet to back up. They pulled up the toilet and brought in all kinds of equiptment. In contradiction to the folks from Sanhoff, the new plumbers were very thourough and did not quit until they KNEW what was causing the problem. They showed us the camera images of the damaged pipes so that we also could feel confident that this was indeed where the problem was. I must mention that the pipe that was acutally the problem was not even the pipe that the guy from Santhoff said was the problem and so, IF they had ever gotten back to us with an estimate for the repair that they recommended, we would have completely wasted our money having that work done. I also know from my interactions with the person that answers the phones when there is a compliaint that we never would have gotten our money back for the wrong repair they would have made. They have a justification for everything and cover themselves so that they basically don't have to truly guarantee their work. This company has lost out on one customer and a large amount of money that we paid for a very large repair, over $8,000. This should serve as a reminder to them that you should treat all customers well and give great service because, even though it may be a small repair today, you never know what they will need tomorrow. Very, very disappointing. read more
