Staff is incredibly rude. The Security guards think that there are local law-enforcement, which is a terrible combination of ingredients.

Weird times. Visited 7/10 - 7/15. Rented through AirBNB. While got the vibe through our rental host that the property (HOA controlled, etc) was going to be extremely uptight, we always felt welcome. This is only my second stay on SPI. Prior occurring nearly 15 yrs hence. Family that shared the beautiful condo have stayed at most of the resorts on the island. They relate this is the nicest SPI accommodation they've had. No onsite dining, which is typical. Bar was closed, as was spa due to COVID-19. However, the sister property, Pearl, was open to us. Their poolside bar was open for hamburger's at lunch and a classic beach drinks menu. Service friendly there. Pool was beautiful. Beach access was simple. Groundskeepers were abundant. Our room, 7th floor, south tower was well appointed, well spaced and quiet enough to hear a mouse. We wondered if we were the only inhabited unit on the floor. Had a modest problem getting AC to cool upon arrival. Maintenance took a look and fiddled. Unit was mostly cool enough thereafter. Would return. read more

Do Not Waste Your Money: Horrifying Experience at Sapphire Condominiums, South Padre Island, TX Our stay at Sapphire Condominiums was nothing short of a nightmare. While views may look great online, the reality is far from luxurious & NOT family friendly. We paid $1,835 for a 3-night stay and were treated with complete disrespect and humiliation. We came to relax and celebrate a birthday, especially meaningful after recently losing my father just four weeks ago. Instead, we were met with rude staff, false promises, and a shocking lack of professionalism. At midnight, security followed us to our room and entered without permission to count the number of people inside. They claimed the presence of my 8-month-old grandbaby was a violation and used that to evict us at 12:30 AM, giving us only 20 minutes to vacate the property. It was humiliating, degrading, and deeply unsettling--especially after paying nearly $1,900. To top it off, they are charging a $250 fee for having us evicted. Does this sound logical? To this day, the general manager has not contacted us. All communication has been filtered through a rude receptionist and security guard who treated us with zero empathy. We are a hardworking, professional, and respectful family of six who wanted to unwind and celebrate. Instead, we were treated like criminals. Do yourself a favor--stay anywhere else. We've stayed in properties like Saida Towers, Margaritaville, Courtyard, Isla Grand, and Sea Breeze. (Unfortunately, this was a last-minute booking, and I couldn't find the availability I needed) But you will experience better service, more convenient amenities, and far more respectful treatment based on my experience. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Here are other unpleasant issues with the property: * EVICTION IS THEIR MIDDLE NAME; THEY WILL THREATEN & EVICT RIGHT AWAY WITHOUT A WARNING! (20 mins even if you're all in bed already) * You are being watched 24/7 & particular staff members oversee counting how many people are in your group. * Guests are not allowed to use the gym. (OWNERS ONLY) * The theater has never had a showing. * The game room is nearly empty, with some non-functional machines, a strong, musty odor, and inadequate air conditioning. * PARKING is free for guests; however, please note that the walk is quite a distance. * The outdoor bar is just for show--it's never open. Instead, workers sit under it watching female guests sunbathe, which made many of us uncomfortable. * My room had stained pillows and an unwashed comforter. * You must take out your trash even though you pay over $120 for the cleaning fee. * If you're a coffee or adult beverage drinker, good luck or walk to Margaritaville; they have a super-friendly staff and a gorgeous, clean facility with great music, ambiance, and some delicious coffee. read more

We came for over memorial day weekend, but this place was not as great as it seemed. The front staff were very pleasant and helpful, but this place had way too many rules and then ambassadors standing around just being rude to all the clientele visiting or living there. The two gentleman were not friendly, and thought they were police officers. No Music, No eating, but yes people are allowed to reserve the chairs all day with their towels and now show up all day or for an hour, but to reserve the chair for the whole weekend. Our condo was very clean, and we left it and cleaned it before leaving as well. Toe nail clippings in the front lobby area. It was unpleasant to relax at the pool, before having to run up and down just to have a snack. The hot tub bubbles and waterfall weren't working, the hot tub was mercy. read more

I stayed here this past July and had an absolute great time. The staff was very friendly and professional especially Shelby! She answered all our questions and was very accommodating and friendly. I usually never give 5 star reviews but Shelby made my stay go so much smoother and stress free. I hope that Sapphire considers her for some kind of financial or job promotion. She was helping other employees and helped countless guests. It's something I saw and I hope the management here does too. Thank you Shelby!!! Your amazing. I didn't book the condo through Sapphire but I still wanted to leave a long over due review. I stayed on the 10th floor condo (pearl condo next door is on your left side if your standing looking on ocean side). The balcony was big enough for a small table and at least 8 chairs. Great place for breakfast or unwinding after a long day. The condo was fully equipped with appliances (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, washer and dryer . We stayed in a two bedroom two bath place and had plenty of reviews for a total of 6 guests. The resort was always clean throughout and pool area is amazing. Gazebo are available for rent (for a price on July 4th weekend) and they do have beach access. Things to keep in mind, there is no onsite Resturant. You will have to walk next door to Pearl and use that Resturant. There is a little bit of a walk from the lobby to the beach. They do have their own wooden deck but there's still a little bit of distance if your carrying around a ton of beach stuff. Even the wagons get stuck once you get off the wooden deck. There are showers before getting to pool area (on way back from beach) so that's cool. There is a private parking garage on site and there is a gas station (Valero) that you can walk too if you want snacks. Just remember these condos have things like soap and paper towels but if your staying a while you need to bring more of those things. Including toilet paper! Lol Hope it helps. -Rick read more

Booked this through VBRO for a girls trip. The condo we rented was very nice. We had a corner unit which allowed us two balcony views, one for the sunrise and the other for the sunset. The staff was very friendly and even though the weather was not very cooperative, we still enjoyed the grounds. Pools are very nice and the hot tub area is, as well. You have access to the Pearl next door, which has a swim up bar and heated water. The beach is very nice as well. read more

If I can give this place a 0 star I would but there's no option they have really bad costumer service if you think 1 year old babies don't count they do they didn't want to let my child in with me which is beyond crazy they have overly strict rules and honestly ruined my vacation no visitors allowed and expensive just to deal with all of that read more

We stayed here in late April 2021. We had a lovely time! They were very strict about COVID rules, but that's just life right now! The hot tubs was by reservation only, which was a hassle....you can't plan hot tubing, it just happens!! The Pearl was easily accessed and the swim up bar there was nice. There were a lot of kids in the pool bar which was a bummer, but we just ordered bigger drinks and hung out at the Sapphire pool! The beach access is amazing and the beach was clean! If you rent a condo and add the names on the list and someone does not make it and you invite someone else, they won't let the person in. Even if all the people in the list can't make it, you cannot change the names of the people. You end up losing your money. You're paying to stay there and all they care about is a dumb list with names. If you get other people in that are not in the list, you get evicted. read more

You won't want to leave this place; it's very, very nice. The Sapphire has it all: on the beach, huge swimming pool, awesome rooms, awesome ocean views and BBQ grills available on your floor. We rented a 2 bdrm condo and found the ocean views on the private patio, just phenomenal. There were a few "hiccups" but management was very attentive and fixed them quickly. Our kids loved the beach access and the pool as well. The staff was attentive and the place is very clean, even the grounds. The only thing lacking is a restaurant and bar on location - bummer. Oh well, if you can get beyond that, just use your grill. Sit back and relax. Enjoy. read more

We stayed here for 4 days and it was amazing! So peaceful, calm, and full of luxury. The condo was great with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. We were on the 10th floor with a perfect view of the beach and pool. Staff was very friendly and I liked the fact that they had security at the pool to ensure no outsiders tried to crash the amazing pool. The only problem we had was 1 out of the two elevators broke so when checking out it took 20 minutes for an elevator to get us and boy were we squished! Also, they should really have a pool bar. We had to go next door to the pearl to their bar. Other than that, it was a great stay and I would definitely recommend this place for adults , couples, and families. Would not recommend for spring breakers, or young people who wanna party hard lol. read more

The facility is beautiful, the help not so much. They offer nothing extra. For example. I was told I had to be at the front desk by 8:30 in the morning if I wanted to rent chairs and umbrellas so I was there at 8:30. Girl at front desk says oh all the owners get first choice for that so there are none available for mere renters. The end. Get out of my face. I went back upstairs to get my phone so I could reach out the the people we were renting from. And she says oh yes you will have to go next door and rent from the neighbors. What the hell. I paid well over 3000.00 dollars and she did not reserve a single umbrella for me! I would have paid her for it.... Don't even get me started on the sorry service at the also very beautiful and expensive spa. Went back down to the front desk, same girl still there, asked her if there was a place to rent next door and she says "oh yes there is" why in the hell did she not share that little nugget of information earlier!!! Booked a condo here through Airbnb and our overall stay exceeded our expectations. We stayed during the Covid-19 pandemic so some of the amenities were not available at the time but typically this place has great amenities. The pool/hot tub area is beautiful and huge (reminded me of pools in Vegas), they also had a gym and private movie area. They have access to the beach from the property but chairs/umbrellas are only available to rent so bring your own if you don't want to pay. We stayed on the 5th floor and although we were not super high up, our view of the ocean was still fantastic. Our unit had double balconies: one beach side and one bay side. The condos are very family friendly. The location is off to the west side of the island so we did have to drive to get to restaurants and shops but you can rent golf carts to get around the island if you don't want to drive. Condo parking is free and a covered structure. Solid place to stay on the island and Airbnb offers a great price on the condos here. read more

Worst experience ever in all my travels. I was traveling with my family of four. An infant, five year old and husband. We were told to leave the property with in an hour. We had a service dog but we're told they don't allow that. We traveled by plane with a dog and had no way of finding a place for the dog to stay. They did not say no pets. This ridiculous to have to make a family leave because of a service dog. We were treated very rudely and this place had no compassion or understanding for a little girls best friend traveling with her. This place ruined a family's vacation. From the moment we pulled onto Sapphire grounds we knew we had made the right decision!! Check in was a breeze thanks to Dylan who made sure we knew where to go and all the accommodations Sapphire had to offer! The grounds were so well maintained and everyone from the front desk to security, housekeeping was so friendly and we always felt so safe!! Our condo was everything as described and more!! We've been renting for the last four years and it is a little hit or miss on the quality of rooms for the money. Fantastic weight room and great pool and hot tub with access to hotel pool and bar next door. Beach access is the best on the island. A few things to bear in mind: * the staff are absolutely rude and unhelpful (you're a renter and they let you know it) * you cannot bring guests to your room * no extra blankets towels etc. I think we're done forking out the money. For the same price we could probably find better. read more

The condos it's self are very very nice. But we have problems with the outdoor facilities. It's very strict on rules and just ruins the fun. The hot tub has time limits on it (the hot tub is only luke warm btw), you can't play music, the pool is unheated and freezing, you can't have visitors whatsoever and they even have "dress codes" We spent a ton of money to be here, just to be limited to certain things. This place is good for families. But for young adults trying to have fun, I wouldn't recommend this place. The tiki bar next door is nice though:) read more

I have never had an experience where I was treated so poorly. Upon checking in I informed the front desk that I have a service dog. I do not legally have to inform them, nor can they turn me away. Yet they did just that. Even though I pulled up federal law and policy of the company I rented through they refused to let us check in. The owner of the condo even went to bat for us. Owners are allowed to have dogs on the premises but not renters with service dogs. I spoke with a rep from the agency I rented thru and they said clearly the Sapphire organization is ignorant of the law. We traveled for two days to get there. I put in the notes of my booking that I had a 5 pound non shedding service dog. I checked the policy of the Sapphire before booking. They made no mention of service dogs even though they told me they turn people away all the time. We fought them for over 2 hours until we scrambled to find another place to stay. Ironically while we were sitting outside with my dog in my lap, an owner came out with his two dogs that started barking and going nuts when they saw my dog- who continued to sit quietly in my lap the whole time. Yes they will be hearing from my attorney. No one who needs a service dog should be treated so poorly by an organization that thinks they can supersede federal law. read more

We stayed here for four nights, rented through AirBnB but had wonderful stay. This review is only about the resort amenities as they have no control over each condo. The grounds were well maintained, the pool was clean and huge, staff was very friendly and accommodating. I wish they had either more pool cabanas for rent or that if the people who reserved them didn't show up, they would release them. We wanted a cabana one day and they were all booked but not all in use. I would definitely come back and stay at Sapphire. read more

I cannot begin to express the wonderful experience over at the Sapphire! The condo we stayed in was beautiful and felt like home (603). The front staff was very friendly at all times! Esperanza was our go to gal and assisted us through our 5 day stay. The pool was beautiful, inviting, and very clean. We got to enjoy the gym, pool, game room, and theater room. The beach was nice and quite in this area. Loved this stay!! Will definitely be our come to spot while visiting SPI! read more

If you want to pay to stay in a prison - this is the place for you I rented a condo at the Sapphire Condominium at South Padre for my family and I to enjoy a much-needed break. I didn't realize that the owner was going to interrogate me, and the condo had more rules than a prison. As soon as I made the first installment of a very expensive condo in January, the owner contacts me and asks me personal questions about my children. As a parent, I was very wary of this and did not answer these questions. Why would she need to know a little something about my kids - we are renting a condo from her - not going on a date. In February, I emailed the owner back to let her know that I was going to be bringing 2 nieces and 2 nephews as I was taking care of them as their parents were out of town (BTW- this brought the count to 8 and that is what is allowed in the condo). Suddenly, the world exploded. The owner told me I could only bring family. I explained as they are part of my family and in my care, I am not certain what the issue was. She proceeded to tell me that the Condominium only allows birth children. Yes, you read that right. Only children that are LEGALLY mine. So, for all of those out there with blended families, or you take care of your nieces, nephews etc. this hotel is NOT for you. They do not want you there and will make NO exceptions. I know this because I called the front desk and spoke to an employee there and she told me that yes as they are staying me my nieces and nephews were welcome to be with us for our vacation. I was elated. I emailed the owner this wonderful news and she emailed back that she called the office manager and my nieces and nephews were NOT allowed but I could certainly call and speak to Alfonso if I wanted. Of course, I call Alfonso to explain the situation and he absolutely did not care. He also let me know that he believed South Padre was too wild at Spring Break for families and was surprised I was going to be there with my family at this time. I said I don't know what to do. DO you think the owner will refund my money? He said, it doesn't hurt to ask and if she won't, you can always call the credit card company and dispute it. Yes, you read that right as well - the manager of the condo encouraged me to dispute the charge if the owner would not refund my money. I called the owner to ask her if she could refund the money and explain the situation and she of course never returned my call, but she emailed me to let me know there was no way she would refund my money as we had missed the window. After a few more messages with this same tone, I stopped emailing her and realized I had to come up with a new plan. The owner then continued emailing me to ensure I was ONLY bringing myself, my husband and my 2 children to the condo. Safe to say, renting from this owner has been one of the worst experiences of my life. While I view renting through VRBO as a place to conduct business transaction, this owner seems to use is as a place to bully and harass people. If you want to control what the people who rent your place do, you really should pull it off VRBO. And the condo, though right on the beach and had a beautiful pool, did not have the amenities the website promised. There were no umbrellas on the beach as they are only seasonal, and you must pay more for the pool cabanas. I also witnessed an owner of one of the condos being harassed by a maintenance man as he was not wearing his green armband. Lastly, both the owner and the condo touted what a family friendly place this was and that is why they are so cautious with people staying at the condo. The condo is right next door to The Pearl which had numerous spring breakers there, with a DJ playing explicit music at the swim up bar and drinks all over. I would NEVER recommend renting from this owner nor staying at this place. And to top it off, the cable in the condo that we rented would not work for most of the time we stayed there. What a waste of money and energy! read more

If you want to feel like you're in high school and want the staff in your business all day everyday, come here. If you prefer most of the stuff in your room and floor to be broken or "out of order", come here. If you want to ask the staff questions and get attitude, the "run around" and disrespect, come here. #2505 Overall the Sapphire is great, but do your homework with the booking agent. It was obvious the owners were not keeping the condo refreshed. The major issue was the Master bed which was unsleepable. Other issues (all in the condo) included an ice maker not working, burnt out light bulbs, terrible frying pans, can opener that didn't work, rusted through patio furniture... Way too much money for a condo in this condition. The Sapphire is great, but check out the condo before you throw down the money. read more

So disappointed! We stay every year because we enjoy the pool and we will not be staying again! We asked to add two visitors for 1 day visit and we were told that would put us over our capacity. They consider my 18 month baby a headcount! So rude... I understand crowd control but this was too much. We planned on renting a cabana but they will not get another penny from us! read more

Beautiful resort with possibly the very worst service that I've ever experienced. I stay in condo's at least 2x per year and have never seen such un-trained and flat out disrespectful staff at any kind of accommodations. We have asked over and over for basic needs such as towels and linen service only to be told that this is not possible. We are staying in a 3 bedroom condo with 8 guests and have been issued 5 keys to the door as well, the "machine" does not allow for more than that. Upon arrival, our microwave did not function, the washing machine did not function and the toaster wouldn't work. When we took our issues to the manager on duty, he told us we "could have stayed somewhere else". Clearly the staff is not to blame for all of these problems, but their inability to solve any problems and make any decisions in support of customer service shows the complete lack of management or the just terrible management. I would strongly suggest taking your $600/ night and finding somewhere else to stay. read more
