Review of Suntide II Unit 301 October 2025 We have stayed at this condo before and always enjoyed it. It is a beautiful, well-appointed condo with great views. In fact, we have stayed at Suntide II many times in different condos, and always enjoyed our stay. We always come in the off season as the pricing and weather is nicer. We always rent the largest condo available as we have 13 in our family and 9 or 10 of us usually stay at Suntide II. But this time, there were several issues which really disappointed us. These involved poor communication, lack of accessibility, and a ridiculous parking policy. LACK OF ACCESSIBILITY: I am mobility impaired. I use a cane or a walker. My disability was worsened since we last stayed, about 2 years ago. I realized on this trip; there are only 2 disabled parking spots for the entire building. And they were almost always in use. Which severely limited my ability to drive myself as I was not able to traverse the steep driveway on foot. In addition, the entrance to the pool area is inaccessible as well. The steps are too steep and there is no other entrance. Therefore, I was unable to accompany my grandchildren to the pool, or my husband to the hot tub, or just use the loungers to read. The beach is also not accessible from this complex, but is from the public beach access points nearby. A RIDICULOUS PARKING POLICY: They always say 1 vehicle per condo, but every time I have come, they have given us 2 parking passes, as the parking lot is never full when we are there. This year we brought 6 adults and 4 children in 3 vehicles. One family with an older child parked on the street. My vehicle was parked as near the entrance as we could find. And my daughter who had a baby and another young child parked off to the side in the parking lot but not near the entrance. I stopped by the onsite office several times to get another parking permit, as I have done in the past, but there was never anyone there. They towed my daughter's car in the middle of the night on the 3rd night without notice. Yes, there were towing signs, which have always been there and never enforced during any of my previous stays. However, the parking lot was over half empty when they towed her car. Towing a car with a baby seat in the night (ensures they get at least one night storage fee) from a half full lot is a money grabbing scheme which severely impacts my desire to ever stay here again. It cost $275 to retrieve the car. As a result of getting towed, my granddaughter missed being a flower girl at a wedding they were to attend in McAllen, because the towing yard would not open up in time for them to arrive on time. POOR COMMUNICATION & LACK OF ACCESSIBILITY: This is a VRBO listing, but the contract for rental is with Padre Island Rentals. They sent lots of emails including more than one with check in instructions. The first one I received regarding check in said to go to their office to check in, before going to the condo. I thought that was strange as other rental companies gave us a code to the door for self-check-in. But I followed instructions. That's when I found out that Padre Island Rentals office is not accessible. There are many steps to enter the door. I did manage to find a ramp at the end of the building. It was narrow with no rails, and nothing to prevent you from falling off the side of the ramp. After I got inside, I told them I was there to check in, I was told quite rudely that I was not supposed to come there, to just use the code. I replied there was no door code in the email, and it would have been nice to know that before trying to access their building. Again, rudely they said I didn't need to be there, to find the email with the code. It turns out, there was a subsequent email which had been sent with conflicting check-in info, but I had not read it yet. Also, when I called PI rentals the day after my daughter's car was towed, to explain what happened and ask if they would issue a parking pass for her, they rudely said "one pass per unit no exceptions" and slammed down the phone. DISAPPOINTMENT: We come to the island almost every year for a week with a large group of friends and family. We rent condos or houses at several locations and all meet up on the beach, at the clubs and restaurants. We go fishing and buy fancy coffees, jewelry and clothing. My family lived in Port Isabel for many years. Coming to South Padre has always felt like coming home to me. But it doesn't feel so welcoming now. We are all going to Port Aransas next year. I don't know if I'll ever be back. But if I do come to South Padre, we will not stay at Suntide II and we will not rent through Padre Island Rentals. read more

We did not get what we paid for, and nobody from management took the time to address our issues. The issue we had- nobody notified us that the pool would be closed for the week. There was a posted notice on the property (see below) but obviously we don't live here, so we didn't know. I added screen caps of texts with Vacasa. As you can see, they don't even try to contact me to resolve the issue. The one morning I got to use the pool with my children the staff was rude to me when I wanted to enter the pool 1 minute before 9 am. This place is plastered with threats of fines and fees. They are very happy to take your money but not work with you when something goes wrong. With all the fees it costs around $600 a night to stay here. For that kind of price they need to address issues when they come up. read more

We rented #204, very nice, very clean. Sat on our patio and watched the water a lot. We used the pool, and the hot tub, very clean. The beach side units are perfect for relaxing and people watching. We spent hours on the beach. This is the perfect place to stay. I will say, I was very impressed with owner/mgr/hired person. Each day she was outside for a couple of hours with a bucket picking up trash from people on the beach. And people on the 1st floor. I will say she was very sure that each day she got everything. The last dsy I looked doen from the 2nd floor and saw cigarette butts all over the beach side of one of the 1st floor condos. I could not believe that mess. These are no smoking condos on property. read more

We stayed at Suntide II unit 301 and we absolutely loved this place! The description & pictures were exactly as described. The view was amazing! The short walk to the beach was very enjoyable. The Host has a closet full of beach chairs, beach toys, beach towels a large cooler with wheels & a wagon to carry everything! That shows how thoughtful the Host is. None of these extra amenities are mentioned and it was a huge surprise when I saw them as they were so convenient & saved us money. I would definitely rent this place again! The nights were peaceful and enjoyable. This is a great place for a romantic getaway or a family vacay with small children even a nice calm relaxing place for retired people as the place is accommodating with handicap features. The location is just perfect! It's surrounded by many restaurants, gift shops, attractions, grocery store, pharmacy even a Starbucks is close by for all the coffee lovers. I stayed 4 days but you easily need 7-10 days to be able to enjoy the place. read more

1st Time! Best time ever! This was my 1st time ever to South Padre Islands. Our stay was from Arrival Date: 3/30/2019 with the Departure Date: 4/1/2019. It was better than expected. We stayed here in Suite 309! All I got to say if I had the money, I would have never departed! The Suite was super clean, comfortable, peaceful, pleasant, welcoming, personable, and I could just keep going! They were able to extend my check out. I was so grateful. Every restaurant and store we went to was just Uniates away. Right on the beach! I was able to open my window fall asleep and wake up to the sweet sound of ocean waves! I will definitely be back! Questions and concerns were answered promptly! These people here are on there A game baby! So get there and enjoy it! I know I'll be back same suite too no doubt! read more

On both my trips to South Padre island I have stayed at these condos. They're in a great location, right on the beach. The units themselves are, I believe, individually owned and furnished so each is unique and comes with its own pluses and minuses. The unit I stayed in two years ago was the same that I most recently stayed in... I would love to rate this place more highly but unfortunately the same issues remained as on my first trip. A toilet in the front bathroom wasn't bolted down and the heat/air conditioning doesn't flow well into the bedrooms (problem if you visit in the winter when it is pretty cold and windy and night). All the units feature full kitchens but varying levels of utensils/kitchen items. This is a huge advantage for large families who vacation here. Towels can be exchanged before 11 each morning although there's no daily maid service. There are large rubbish bins on each floor so you don't have to run your trash downstairs. And although they offer Wi-Fi, it has very poor connectivity. I would still recommend these condos to anyone looking to stay on the island due to size, location, and convenience. But I'd recommend the staff look into general upkeep. read more

Very first impression was incredible! We stayed in 307. All condos face the ocean. When you first walk in, straight back is the balcony with front row views of the beach/ocean. There is a large balcony with plenty of seating. Two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, dining table plus bar height seats, full size kitchen and living room. Pretty big place! It was me, my husband and our 5 children. The master had a king and nice large windows looking out to the water. The condo was very clean, including bathrooms, beds, etc. There was a flat screen tv in each bedroom and in the living room with direct tv and a dvd player in each room as well. We had plenty of dishes to cook and eat and drink with. We had a few things go wrong in our condo such as the water heater and fridge but they were quick to start making necessary repairs or replacements. I don't blame these things on the staff because stuff breaks. How they respond is important! They gave is an extra night stay AND replaced out groceries since we had almost a day without water and our fridge wasn't cooling. They made it right as quickly as possible. Every single staff member was helpful and nice and went out of their way to help us. One guy even tracked us down on the beach to let us know the status of replacing the water heater. I can only say nice things about this place. Decent prices for what you get and helpful, efficient staff! Specific names that were especially helpful were Terri (the manager), the maintenance guys: Adan, Rudy and Urbano. There were others but I didn't catch their names. Love this place! read more

Our favorite place to stay while on the island. Nice rooms, nice staff, nice pool, private walkway to beach, reasonable prices and they let us bring our doggys on vacation with us. Every summer my friends and I go we book room 109 and loove it. read more

We stayed for 3 days and loved it. Beautiful inside and perfect location on the beach. Nice pool and jacuzzi. Clean and tennis court on the 3 floor. Slept 6 people well. Cooking ware available in the full kitchen. We gotta go back here. Recommend this location anytime! read more

Went with a group of friends and this place was an absolutely disaster. Staffs were literally pushing me to buy their drugs. The rooms were also dirty and old, but that comes as unsurprising for South Padre. However, the showers were horrible: weak water pressure and often times, murky water. Lady at the front desk was not a pleasant company neither. We got her name down after having a conflicting conversation, Terry. Definitely not a place to come back to. read more

We love this place and have gone back several times. The property managers are great and do all they can to make sure you enjoy your stay. This is a smaller complex very relaxing and right on the beach. This is a great place to stay! They have a pretty pool right in the middle of the complex and a walkway right to the beach- this is really nice when the sand gets hot! There are only about 20 units so it is very peaceful if you want some quite time too. read more

This place sucked. They don't allow guest in your room. They charge you for everything not washed or damaged at the end. They do not tell you check takes 30 minutes so if you don't do it before you are charged. Security all through the night. Wrist bands are given and a fee is given to replaced them. Management is very very rude. The only good side is the view and maintenance guys; very helpful. Don't stay here unless you want to spend more money and not have people wondering. read more

This is an email that was sent to the manager of Padre island rentals and I never received a response. Matthew, I wanted to make you aware that the ac people never ended up coming. We were hoping to be able to enjoy our last night in our condo with a nice fully functional AC unit. Upon our arrival you guaranteed us that the ac would be replaced if it couldn't be repaired. After countless phonecalls you refunded us some or our money and said that the ac would be replaced either Wednesday night or Thursday. However Thursday still nothing was done. I called and you said it would be done Friday. Still nothing was done. It's very disappointing when you expect things orare told things and then there is no follow through. Also, the shower in the master bathroom was very gross with tons of mildew. I had them come clean it but it was still gross, so much so that we wore flip flops in the shower. I am attaching some pictures so you are aware. Please know that as much as I appreciate the $700 refund I am still not happy and have a sour taste in my mouth. I have stayed through your company in the past and felt like since it was a larger company and been around longer that it was a guaranteed good experience. Is there anything else you can do to help make it better? read more

Condos are well kept and office staff is very friendly and helpful! The maintenance guys are super awesome and could not be more helpful (specifically Adam who is AMAZING!!!). The views are awesome and the beach is right out your door! You will not be disappointed to stay here!! read more

Don't stay! Had a party of 6 staying in a 3 bedroom condo. Only allowed one parking pass for a 3 bedroom condo that sleeps 8! Really! Arrived at 5:12 waited for the primary person to arrive in another vehicle after checking in so we would have access code to condo. Unloaded vehicle, came out at 6:00 to move vehicle! Vehicle was not there! Vehicle had already been towed! Two men from Tow truck company---Rancho Autoplex Island Garage was walking around scanning parking lot, taking pictures of cars themselves, waiting and not giving people time to unload and get things settled and move their vehicles before towing vehicles. $251 later before a female disabled Veteran was able to get vehicle from Rancho Towing company. I should add the young Hispanic man from Ranco towing was a smart ass the entire time! Tow company lied and said vehicle had been sitting for over an hour before they towed female disabled Veterans car, when in fact we had proof it had not even been an hour but less than 45 minutes! People beware they have a money making scam going on and are taking full advantage of people! Will never stay here again! read more

Terrible stay!! Horrible staff with a hostile front desk woman, that wasn't helpful at all and seemed totally annoyed at everything that we did. Then the stay overall was disgusting, the showers were slimy with terrible water pressure and the rooms were dirty, I doubt they ever actually get cleaned. I will NEVER even think about returning here and I would strongly advise everyone to stay far away from this terrible "resort" read more

Just finished up a stay here and will not be coming back, I even made a yelp account just to review this place. The bathrooms had mildew and the showers dripped water when turned on. The staff was unpleasant, unhelpful, and even offered us narcotics (no thank you). Specifically, the lady at the front desk, Terry I believe, was quite hostile and of no assistance. This put a horrible mood on our vacation and quite frankly, made it less pleasant than intended. I recommend coming to the island, just don't stay here. read more

My family of 5 just returned from a 3 night stay here. We liked it. Close to the beach, fully furnished 2 bedroom and awesome views of the beach. Since we went during early June, it was crowded at times at the pool. I would recommend this place to families, as Suntide has showers as you enter from the beach to wash off the sand. Oh..one piece of advise I would give is make sure your kids have water shoes as they walk to to beach. The sand heats ups and its pretty uncomfortable. We had to carry our toddler. Overall, I was very disappointed in my stay at Suntide 2. The water pressure was atrocious and my bathroom smelled awful. Service to our room was pretty bad as well. I tried making numerous maintenance requests to fix the smell in our bathroom, but we never received service. Not only this, but we were offered cocaine by some maintenance men. When we brought these complaints to the manager (Terry), she was extremely rude and very disrespectful to my friends and I. Overall, I would definitely not recommend staying at Suntide 2. read more

This place ruined our spring break! The woman at the front desk (I think her name was Terry) was incredibly rude and seemingly forgot the meaning of hospitality. Other members of the staff tried to sell members of our group drugs! The water pressure was nonexistent, and the showers themselves were disgusting anyway. Go anywhere else! read more

Absolutely terrible. My friends and I felt very unwelcome by the rude and hostile front desk manager, Terry. Once we reached the room, we noticed the showers were in terrible condition along with a complete lack of water pressure. The additional resort staff was sketchy and eventually offered us drugs during our stay here. Needless to say we felt very uncomfortable and will not be returning. read more

STAFF DEALS COCAINE- VERY INTIMIDATING AND UNSAFE!!! An employee offered to sell us cocaine at the pool the day we arrived- that should say enough! But the staff and security steal anything that is left out (one tried to sell us a marijuana wax pen for $40 he said was left out by other guests) and they hustled us out of our security deposit- after other condo official had checked out our unit upon checkout and said nothing was damaged and that we'd get our full security deposit back, the maintenance worker who had offered to sell us cocaine said there was a tear in a couch cushion and kept our entire $500 security deposit!! It's clear that he tore it to keep our money perhaps because we didn't buy his cocaine or just because he could and wanted to. Even if we did tear the couch cushion it wasn't worth $500!! He undoubtedly pocketed the money. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STAY HERE. Also the water pressure is awful if cocaine dealing kleptomaniac staff isn't enough of a reason not to go here. read more
