Poor Service A Menue that's Not Appealing and The Food is Not Good. No I Would Not Recommend Them at All..And I Definitely Won't Return

My daughter and I like to ride on my motorcycle to get Sushi. I somehow came across this place when searching for restaurants in Waynesboro, figuring that it would be a good ride. Even though I saw great reviews, I was hopeful that it was from people other than just Waynesboro and were legit, not people who are friends and padding the reviews. We decided to take the long way and rode two and half hours to go up there today. Let me say, per my daughter, this is a top 2 Sushi restaurant for her of all time. I do not eat as much Sushi as she does, but I agree it is the best I have ever had. All the food was fresh, and the flavors were to die for. The owner is very hands-on and came over to check on us and we chatted. She is extremely friendly and one hundred percent cares about your experience. This restaurant is so good that now when we want Sushi, and it is riding season, this is where we will go. read more

Never thought I'd have to give my absolute favorite sushi place a 1-star review. We called at 8:00 PM to place a pickup order and let them know we were about 30 minutes away but would arrive before their 9:30 PM closing time. We got there at 9:00 PM--plenty of time before close--only to be told that the person who answered the phone never took our order. Today was my 21st birthday, and I chose this place for my birthday dinner. We wasted a lot of time going back and forth, only to leave empty-handed and disappointed. This was incredibly frustrating and not the experience I expected from a place I've always loved. I hope they take steps to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

Our waitress was awesome! I wish I could recall her name--she was so funny and the most charming lady, made the experience even better. I had the yellowtail sushi and the garlic crunch spicy tuna roll, both were so good and fresh! I also shared beef dumplings to start and those were really good as well. Service was fast, the ambience was nice and it seems like they have a ton of regulars which is a great sign. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely go back! read more

This spot doesn't get nearly enough recognition. There are some great sushi options around Frederick, but this place stands out as the best. It's definitely a case of quality over quantity (not that the portions are small...the food is just that good). Honestly, it's some of the most flavorful food you'll find in Frederick. If you haven't been yet, you need to check it out. We used to always default to Lazy Fish (which is also solid), but after finally giving this place a shot, it's become our new favorite. This place is in need of updating. But it's in Waynesboro where everything seems to be dated such as it still it's the 80s. But looking beyond the dated decor you'll discover the great food that this place has to offer. I'm somewhat wary of eating in the 'boro as things tend to be subpar in terms of spice, seasonings and if to be brutally honest freshness. Sapporo however brings all free things that I worry about and brings a kinda big city quality. read more

My partner and I were in the area and picked Sapporo based on its Yelp review. My partner had two sushi rolls and chicken teriyaki. I had chicken tempura and we split a gyozo appetizer. The food was excellent and served quickly. Our server was very attentive, although it probably helped we were the only ones dining mid-afternoon. We'd definitely eat here again. read more

We had great experience in this location. The cooked sushis were phenomenal! We recommend the Bang-Bang crab rolls and Eel Maki Maki(these were bang!chef's kiss!) and Mango Tango! Sapporo is a great Japanese restaurant in the quaint town of Waynesboro, PA. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the food is absolutely delicious. Due to COVID-19 restrictions relaxing a bit in the last couple of months, the restaurant has recently allowed dine-in service again. When you first walk in, there is a large table for carry out orders, but the next room offers plenty of seating. I must say that I enjoyed and felt nostalgic listening to music from the early 2000s on the sound system. The furniture is a little worn and could use a little updating, but the food more than makes up for it. Definitely give Sapporo a try! read more

What an amazing hidden gem in Waynesboro. This place is delicious and the Korean specialties are so amazing. Definitely go here and try out some of the dishes, you won't regret it! Great food and service. We were in town for a few weeks visiting family and dined at Sapporo three times! Every meal was fantastic.

I will premise my review with I've travelled to Japan many times and had sushi there more times than I can count or recollect, actually mostly sashimi now that I think about it. I've had relatively expensive Tokyo sushi and also conveyor belt sushi in other prefectures there so I've experienced a range. I've not had sushi in the US that compares in equivalence to anything there although some places in the Bay Area have come really close so I try to adjust my rating's accordingly. Had the sushi deluxe for dinner. I didn't want to get the sashimi on a first visit. Overall I would rate this as ok, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I thought the price warranted a higher quality at the end of the day, especially if ordering nigiri by the piece. There could be a challenge in getting fresh seafood currently, I'm not sure, but it didn't taste as fresh as I was expecting, especially the salmon which is one of my go to types. The California roll also was missing tobiko which was disappointing. My system is if this would have been great I would then try taco, and if that is great, finally uni. I didn't make it to the taco. Again, not bad, just not great which was what I had expected given the reviews. read more

We have done take out and eaten at the restaurant several times. A cute, smaller space inside, we have always been sat quickly and the staff is polite. The really outstanding piece of this location is their food. The quality is outstanding and the food is amazing. Sapporo rates the highest in Waynesboro and while it is a small town, it is still an excellent restaurant with terrific service, and more importantly, excellent fish. Located at on Main Street in the very center of downtown Waynesboro, the place was pretty well packed when I entered. I was pointed to a table and when the hostess (owner?) noticed my wine bottle, asked if I just needed one glass. She opened my bottle and returned it to the table with the cork and the proper glassware. Interestingly, I was not charged a corkage fee. I had a seaweed salad to start. It was tasty and extremely cold. A good portion. For mains, I chose two rolls. The Manhattan was a tasty combination of a few different ingredients including tuna and yellow tail and eel. Very flavorful and with a sauce that was not overpowering. Well plated. The Sapporo Special was a combination of tuna and salmon and yellow tail. Well put together, I'm sort of amazed that none of it fell out and splashed me! Yum! Clearly, it's a regular place for several locals. I eat Sapporo usually at least once a month. Their sushi is fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The other dishes have all been above and beyond (fantastic tempura.). It's a vey cute little restaurant (I only ever order takeout). But it's got great ambiance. The family that owns it are some of the SWEETEST people. The matriarch of the family is usually there and such a funny, genuinely nice person. Always remembers me, my name, even small chit chat about life from previous visits. Sapporo is bar none the best Sushi in Waynesboro/Chambersburg. If you want good Japanese/Korean, please try this place. These guys are wonderful. read more

Pretty good stuff! This was my best meal on my Appalachian Trail hike so far. I was kind of skeptical at first - I expected places out here to be better at standard American fare (burgers, etc), but surprisingly so far I have been disappointed on that front. Sapporo is no disappointment however. The prices are a little higher than your average food, which is normal for quality sushi, but it's very worth it! They have bluefin tuna, which I felt guilty about trying, since I know most of that tuna isn't sustainable. It was very delicious though... Tried the unagi, tuna, bluefin tuna, tamago, and salmon sashimi, which all came out on a looooong plate that barely fit my table, which was kind of funny. Looked and tasted great. I think the only thing I didn't really like was the tamago, which seemed too sweet for me, but maybe it's just a preference thing. The owners are Korean, but I guess Japanese food is more marketable here. There are some Korean dishes to try out if you want, which is nice. At least it's not one of those hodgepodge "Asian food" places which have Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese all thrown together! Would definitely come back! One thing that threw me off was the BYOB policy, which means they don't serve alcohol - due to some sort of state regulations I probably don't quite understand. Would love if they could serve Japanese alcohol. Some warm sake would have been great tonight. read more

I have to give this 4 stars. You'll need to take out a sushi loan from your bank in order to eat here . . . but, yeah, it's worth it and they almost got a full 5 from me. We stopped in after a soccer game. Not expecting to find any good restaurants in the town, we decided to try the sushi place with the awesome Yelp reviews. It's a small place so we were happy to have a seat. Honestly, some of the very best sushi I have ever eaten. One of the best things is the non-traditional roll options. If you're sick of things like the ubiquitous "rainbow roll" or "dragon roll", look no further. This place throws down some really different offerings. We tried the Camp David Roll (how can you be so close and not have that roll?), Bob's Roll, Banana Special Roll (very different but good), Crazy Tuna Roll, Manhattan Roll, White House Roll, and Tokyo Delight Roll. All of it was great. Service was very good. Wait time wasn't horrible, but there weren't a lot of people when we arrived. By the time we left, the place was pretty full and service had slowed. Which was probably a good thing because we probably would have ordered one more rolls . . . and I would have needed a second sushi loan. The bill was well over $100 for lunch for two hungry adults and two teens. When you consider each roll is about $15 and each person eats about 2 rolls . . . it adds up quickly. All of the food was super fresh. The plating was beautiful. I would consider this a great place for a special night out. I don't think my wallet can handle too many $100+ post-soccer tournament lunches like this. But, ooooh, it's worth it. Even though they're expensive, the rolls are a decent size and come out looking like artwork. The only thing I didn't like, on some of the rolls with the "crunch", was how much space the crunch (like panko crumbs) took up in some of the rolls. However, the kids liked the crunch so much we started adding panko when we make sushi rolls at home. Two thumbs way up. read more

I didn't feel like anything really stood out on the menu. The rolls were mediocre and very overpriced. They were very pretty, so some points for presentation. The service was nice enough but when we went there was a young man at the register that had to go back and ask questions every time we had a question so I don't know if he was new at the time or just really didn't care. read more

This is some of the best sushi I have ever had. Their Menu is expansive and has just about anything you could think of. I would recommend their sushi. Absolutely outstanding Japanese restaurant !! Come early, they do not take reservations. But, it is worth the wait.

Went Friday night and made reservations since there was 8 of us, everything was amazing! The service and the food! We tried the Gyoza, Shumai something called a Jalepeno bomb which was so good! So many rolls. Everything was fresh and everyone loved there meals. Great experience highly recommend it and will be back for sure! Remember to BYOB. read more
