We went into the store to look around and grabbed something to eat from the vendors inside. I got beef shwarma wrap with cheese tomatoes and pickels with a garlic aoli from mama saag international. It was very big, the meat was good but another of grissel. Also had an authentic chicken taco with onions and cilantro. Very good chicken. So I finally made it over here to the Castleton location; the Lafayette Road location is closer to me, but I had heard this one has some extra bells and whistles. The bakery and food court area look nice, but were packed on a Saturday afternoon. The packaged goods are pretty much identical to the other location which is fine since I like that location too and was able to find everything I needed. All the locations are good places to find any ingredient that isn't available at general grocery stores. I always spend an hour or more wandering the aisles here and end up with far more in my cart than planned. Some staples like tahini are also much less expensive here too. I think I'll stick with the shorter drive for regular needs, but will come back here to,check out the bakery, etc when less busy. read more

I have been here a few times to find different items to be able to make a jerk chicken since the regular store didn't have the sauce I was looking for. As I walked in the store it was a lot of people walking in and out of the store. The store had mini food restaurants in there. I love how this is an international store and the aisle is really organized and it's easy to find things. Aisles are organized by the country of the food item. The prices of these items inside the store are on the expensive side but what do you expect it comes from the country of origin. The store is decorated really nice. For the last few years I've been meaning to attend the Saraga International Food Festival. This year I made it a priority to go. It was a lot of fun to wander around sampling Japanese curry, red bean pastries, Itoen green tea, gyoza, Hi-chew candies and more! The vendors were very kind and friendly--particularly at the Mochi Joy donuts booth. We ended up purchasing a three pack of their yummy donuts. They have seasonal flavors like pumpkin spice as well as elephant ear, Oreo and cappuccino chip. We've had Mochi Joy before so we knew it would be worthwhile to grab some donuts to take home. They were nice about me taking photos and video to post on Yelp. I'm giving the event four stars because there were very few healthy vegetarian and vegan options. The majority of the vendors were offering mostly meat and deep fried options. I went for lunch but ended up with just the donuts. I took a lot of pictures to help you get an idea of what to expect. The event takes place both Saturday and Sunday so it's not too late to go if you're reading this now. Go check it out. Especially if you're a meat lover. Make sure to check out the market itself year round for unique international products. I plan on purchasing some things from there for gifts and holidays. They seem to have seasonal stuff as well. We had a blast taking our family here to pick up some treasures for a Filipino dinner party. We stocked up not only in the impressive produce section but in the on-site bakery as well (don't leave without grabbing some fresh goodies from Tous Le Jous in the front corner of the grocery!). The store features an impressive seafood section, array of freezer offerings, dried beans, grains and snacks from around the world. I'm especially a sucker for Indian freezer food, their tofu varieties and produce. You'll find everything from European condiments to Taiwanese bottled drinks. They have it all. So my mother in law wanted to stop by to pick up a few things, she said she's been here a few times but did not know they also had a cafeteria. So of course we had to stop by and we both agreed we were happy we did! We ate at So Gong Dong Tofu, she had the Seafood Pancake and I had the #A4 Beef Bento Box - we will be back again! This place is amazing! I literally spent two hours there wandering around to see everything they have. And seriously they have almost anything you could possibly want. First there is a delicious bakery as soon as you walk in. There is also a small food court. They have a huge produce section. The aisles are marked by country or area to make things easier to find. In many cases you will find the same item in multiple aisles. Seriously anything you want will be there. It also has a fresh seafood area and a halal meat section. They also sell kitchenware. I plan to find some specific recipes and then go back to shop as it can be overwhelming. Customer service was very helpful when I stopped by to ask the location of several items. This location is so different than the one I usually go to (off Lafayette rd) and when I first stepped inside I was like "wow"! It is bigger and has much more stuff in variety. Very impressed that there are long aisle dedicated to Chinese food, Japanese food, etc. It was fun to walk around this store. They have several tenants in the food court which is why I want to go back there. The only disappointment was the meat section. I needed to get some ground beef, but all they had there had already turned grayish brown (the label said it was packaged the day before). I happened to be in the area and was able to check out the Saraga Food Festival. They do this twice a year in the parking lot of the Castleton location. I think there was enough there to justify a visit. There were several food trucks and a number of food vendors. I counted 12-15 or so. They were also selling beer and wine (from international brands), and there was a large tent featuring ethnic goods. In addition to the food festival, you can always visit the actual store or check out a couple more eateries in the shopping plaza. I visited Saraga basis a friend's recommendation and first impressions a very culturally diverse place offering multiple Asian, Hispanic options that go with our cuisine and day to day cooking. I was impressed with the expansive size and loved all the Asian veggies and fruit offerings that's definitely hard and expensive to find in other Asian stores. Saraga is a know store in California so it's good to see the expanded line in Indy. This store is egregiously bad st customer service and I'll never come back thank god there's a much better location in town Pictures of the "security" who harassed me over rolling a basket out to my car when there are zero posted signs and refused to give me even another inch of space on the six inches he allowed me to move my groceries. Had to go back into the store to report Alberto and Jeni was very scared and uncertain and incapable of doing her job. She called over Justin S the store manager and he did not even speak to me before telling me to call the police which was hilarious and ridiculous. It's a great place with many shopping options. They have food and products from different countries, making shopping very convenient. Parking is easy, and there are also places to eat inside. The only thing to watch out for is that they often make mistakes with the pricing. I've been there 5 times, and 3 of those times I was overcharged. The marked price and the actual price charged were different. Last time, they charged me over $20 for a watermelon that was priced at $5. This expansive location that was once home to Target offers an incredible selection of international products, from a tremendous in-store food court, fresh fish, meat, and produce to specialty ingredients from all around the world. Saraga is the type of grocery store that I would see everywhere when I lived in Southern California and took for granted. The type of store where you could find food from many different cultures -- a place to get ingredients that you can't find at mainstream grocery stores. But now I have this type of store here! In Indianapolis! Saraga makes me very happy. The amount of imported products available to purchase at Saraga is overwhelming. Each aisle is dedicated to a different country or region of the world, so you have your Indian area, your Japanese area, your Eastern European area, your Mexican area, your African area. I'm impressed not only by how many food items there are, but also by how freaking neat everything is arranged. The aisles are mesmerizing with their orderliness. You will find so many different kinds of food at Saraga, but most importantly, they sell juice candy here. Lots and lots of flavors and brands and varieties of juice candies. Which, according to my children, is the best thing ever. So if you're looking for the famous TikTok juice candies, you will find a literal aisle here of juice candies. You're welcome (and I'm sorry). This grocery store also has a food court inside, which houses the bakery Tous les Jours and the corn dog joint Korn's. (See my separate Yelp reviews for both.) These two places are excellent, and I'm excited to eat at all of the other places inside Saraga at some point. How nice to have a grocery store where you can shop for groceries and also enjoy a meal. Nestled behind Castleton Square Mall, Saraga International Grocery is located in a former Target that had become a wee bit run down before finally closing a while back. About a year or so ago, we began to hear the news that Saraga, a popular international grocer that likely qualifies as an Indiana-based mini-chain, would take over this spot. We waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, just before Christmas (12/23/22 to be exact) Saraga International Grocery opened up and after the holiday rush ended it seems as if Indy has discovered its opening and fallen back in love with this diverse, culturally inspired grocer with remarkable offerings, friendly employees, and so much to look at that it's hard to imagine a first visit being under an hour or two. Saraga started out in 1992 with two young brothers from Indiana who started selling foods out of their truck. In 1994, a small store simply called "Saraga" opened up in Bloomington and happily existed for around 10 years when, in 2005, a 62,000-square foot Saraga International Grocery opened up on Indy's northside to be followed by Greenwood in 2010 and Columbus, Ohio in 2013. With the new slogan of "Good Price, Good Products, Good People," Saraga International Grocery now opens up in Castleton with a diverse employee workforce, aisles of amazing food, cooking devices and utensils, and even a food court that is intended to grow beyond its current four occupants. If you embrace international cuisine, Saraga International Grocery is likely induce an orgasm. No, seriously. I'm pretty sure I had one. If you've always wanted to cook that ethnic dish you love, there's a pretty good chance you'll find the ingredients here. If you don't, there's an even better chance they'll do what they can to find it. There's Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern, Caribbean, Hispanic, Thai, Indian, Philippine, and other countries and regions and continents represented here. I think I even saw American, though rest assured that's not the emphasis here. Saraga is clean, well organized, and has super friendly and knowledgeable employees. I love the ethnic diversity of the crew as that speaks to the knowledge base available here. From what I hear, this entire corner behind Castleton is aiming for an international flavor with a strip center right next to Saraga destined to have additional shops. This entire area has been vacant for too long and it's lovely to see it coming to life with the always busy Costco also right across the street. Departments include grocery, seafood, fresh produce, meat, and Halal meat. Prices range from "Wow, that's affordable!" to "Cool, maybe next time!" Authentic international foods will inevitably be a little more expensive, however, judging from the crowd here they didn't mind too much. I always thought Saraga would be irrelevant to me as an amateur cook, but this is a place I fell in love with instantly. I prefer this location to the westside, though it's awesome living in a city with more than one location of this great international grocer that focuses on quality and customer service. This Grocery store opened at the end of 2023 and is off to a great start. The first thing that I noticed about the store is that it is clean and organized. The shelves are immaculate. It looks like something out of a commercial. The store has a food court with about 5 vendors, a fish market, meat market, a stand alone bakery/coffee shop, and a cell phone vendor in the front of the store. They have a huge private lot to park in and is in an old strip mall, where it is currently the only business. This store has fresh produce and hard to find ethnic food from around the world. They have tons and tons of imports from Korea, Mexico, China, Africa, the Middle East and many other countries. With selling unique and hard to find imported items, as expected, comes at a price. This store is a bit pricer than your typical grocery store. The staff did their job, but was not very engaging. They were all working hard though. They also have a decent international beer and wine selection. I did not see any hard liquor though. This is a very nice grocery store. I do not think I challenges the regular chains though because they sell different things and attracts different shoppers. It is like comparing apples and oranges, per se. I will definitely be back here though and look forward to expanding my horizons and trying some more of their unique goods. read more

This place is huge. There are so many aisles of products of different countries. There's a lot to explore. We spent hours here...2.5 hours to be exact. There's so much to see - multiple rows of Asian countries represented (Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indian, Philippines, Thailand) Middle Eastern, European, Caribbean, Hispanic. That's not even all of the countries! There's specialty produce, refrigerated goods, frozen food, and shelf stable pantry goods of all kinds, unique to each cuisine type. This is a one stop shop. It's hard to find cuisine-specific ingredients in the big box grocery stores in the area, but not here, you can find it all. I kept saying "wow, they have this here??" Have I mentioned how big this place is and the wide variety of items?? It's so clean too. So nice that this location finally opened. It feels like it has been over 2years in the making. As of right now this location is cleaner, brighter and more spacious than Lafayette Rd. Although they have the smell in common. Fresh fish should not smell that way. The selection of major brand goods is bigger here. The tea selection is amazing. Still didn't find two things we love. This place has become a regular spot for me. First the bakery in the front is amazing! Sooooo many yummy treats. My faves are the twist donuts, the croissants, garlic cream cheese... basically everything! Second the vegetable selection is good, lots of things you can't find at mainstream grocery stores. Third love the variety of ethnic foods available in one store. And the prices are usually better than some other ethnic stores. The only downside is that because some of the goods are kind of niche items not everything gets a lot of rotation, so be sure to check expiration dates. I loved this store! It was super clean and beautifully organized. My brother and I just grabbed a basket when we walked in with the intent of just exploring and buying whatever looked good. We both had a basketful by the time we got to the register and my total was only $23. What?! I can't wait to try all the new foods I bought. In addition to never-ending aisles of food products, they have a section with pots and pans and other kitchen items. There's a large beer and wine section that is coming soon. There's also a section with a variety of restaurants as well. I got several pastries from Tous Les Jours. They had some amazing looking cakes that were so reasonably priced at $30-40. read more

We shop at Saraga when we can. They have so much, however..... There isn't a lot of meat selection and the one they do have is not within our price range. The butcher lady was nice, but I couldn't find what I was looking for (the meat) I needed for the pozole I was planning to cook. She just pointed to where I needed to go. She had no other customers... I couldn't find anyone else to help me, so I ended up leaving. Just a small suggestion about that. :) A little help goes a long way. Other than that, we are thrilled to have such a fantastic grocery store. The cashiers are a lot nicer now than when they first opened the store to the public. The security guard is super awesome. Stopped in here recently on a weekend. It was very busy but handles crowds well. This place is massive. It can be confusing to navigate at times because of how many aisles there are. I also couldn't locate any flour tortillas. They were well staffed and everyone was friendly. The prices are a bit higher for a lot of common items you'd find at a regular grocery store, but they also have a large variety of things you can't find there. There is a fish smell which, if fish is fresh, shouldn't be there. I can't wait to come back to try the corn dog kiosk and pick out additional items in the grocery section. read more

The real deal. Please, please support this new place, Indy! This Saraga is exceptionally clean with wide and easy to navigate aisles. The store is extremely well organized with the best selection of international items I have ever seen. The prices are decent and there's plenty of good deals if you look. The modest food court was limited in variety (sushi, bakery, Korean BBQ, Mexican). Foods from all over the world including Africa, the Caribbean, India, Eastern and Western Europea, Japan, China, and Thailand. The produce is wonderfully fresh and there's a good frozen selection. The fish and meat markets looked super! I can't say enough good things about the layout and variety. Take soy sauce. You can find it in the Chinese aisle if you want to make stir fry, the Japanese aisle if you want to dip sashimi, and in the Southeast Asian aisle if you are looking for sweet soy sauce to cook with. Beer and liquor not yet for sale. FYI as of mid February, the Sushi restaurant is currently running a deal - buy any roll and get a second roll of equal or lesser value for a buck. read more

They have a very wide variety of foods, and they have a few nice restaurants and a bakery inside as well.
