For the last few years I've been meaning to attend the Saraga International Food Festival. This year I made it a priority to go. It was a lot of fun to wander around sampling Japanese curry, red bean pastries, Itoen green tea, gyoza, Hi-chew candies and more! The vendors were very kind and friendly--particularly at the Mochi Joy donuts booth. We ended up purchasing a three pack of their yummy donuts. They have seasonal flavors like pumpkin spice as well as elephant ear, Oreo and cappuccino chip. We've had Mochi Joy before so we knew it would be worthwhile to grab some donuts to take home. They were nice about me taking photos and video to post on Yelp. I'm giving the event four stars because there were very few healthy vegetarian and vegan options. The majority of the vendors were offering mostly meat and deep fried options. I went for lunch but ended up with just the donuts. I took a lot of pictures to help you get an idea of what to expect. The event takes place both Saturday and Sunday so it's not too late to go if you're reading this now. Go check it out. Especially if you're a meat lover. Make sure to check out the market itself year round for unique international products. I plan on purchasing some things from there for gifts and holidays. They seem to have seasonal stuff as well. Go on an empty stomach for sure!

This weekend Castleton's Saraga International Festival Sat. and Sun. 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. This is my third time attending this festival and the best so far. Saraga is advertising their selection with various and lots of food samples. Other vendors had some food samples, too. About 10 food trucks - a few new to me. Entertainment on stage - dancers. Great time! The weekend is not over yet so go and enjoy.

100% recommend coming here for lunch or dinner! They have so many options to choose from and the Korean bbq is some of the best that I've had in Indianapolis! I already can't wait to come back. It's very casual so don't expect fun, dining, but the service is great and the food, like I said, is out of this world!

I love all the choices here. People are very helpful and I love all the food choices in the little café and the Japanese bakery so many wonderful things to try. It is very clean and organized by culture so you can look for the country or the type of food that you're looking for to easily find your products. The Japanese bakery is right inside the door. It has delicious milk, bread and savory as well as sweet treats you can custom order cakes, have teas or Boba. Just a wonderfully abundant shopping trip.

We had a blast taking our family here to pick up some treasures for a Filipino dinner party. We stocked up not only in the impressive produce section but in the on-site bakery as well (don't leave without grabbing some fresh goodies from Tous Le Jous in the front corner of the grocery!). The store features an impressive seafood section, array of freezer offerings, dried beans, grains and snacks from around the world. I'm especially a sucker for Indian freezer food, their tofu varieties and produce. You'll find everything from European condiments to Taiwanese bottled drinks. They have it all. The space also offers at least four to five food stalls offering everything from Korean rice dogs to tofu soup. Give yourself plenty of time to peruse.

So my mother in law wanted to stop by to pick up a few things, she said she's been here a few times but did not know they also had a cafeteria. So of course we had to stop by and we both agreed we were happy we did! We ate at So Gong Dong Tofu, she had the Seafood Pancake and I had the #A4 Beef Bento Box - we will be back again! The grocery store alone is HUGE, just WOW! Sooo many options and the produce is very fresh! When we needed help with specific items, we were able to get assistance b/c theirs someone in every other isle and even though theirs so much, the isles are kept pretty clean and the shelves are organized. I can't wait to come back!

So inside saraga there is amazing international food, bakeries, restaurants, jewelry and more! Just go and get lost in there! It's a lot of fun! And then they host an international food festival that is one of my favorite outdoor food events! We went both days this weekend and were so pleased with the food choice options. Follow their social media pages to keep informed! So worth it!

This location is so different than the one I usually go to (off Lafayette rd) and when I first stepped inside I was like "wow"! It is bigger and has much more stuff in variety. Very impressed that there are long aisle dedicated to Chinese food, Japanese food, etc. It was fun to walk around this store. They have several tenants in the food court which is why I want to go back there. The only disappointment was the meat section. I needed to get some ground beef, but all they had there had already turned grayish brown (the label said it was packaged the day before). Other than that, I found what I wanted and even found some things on sale. Highly recommended.

I've been wanting to come check this place out for awhile but I was waiting for the "newness" hype to die down, so it wasn't so crowded. I stopped by after work, and wow! What a cool place! It's very spacious, well organized, and there are so many different options. I loved just looking around at all the different options and sections. I picked out some different items that seemed tasty, and I have some of them since. I can't wait to go back here when I have some more time. This place is great, and I'm so glad there is now one close to my home!

I visited Saraga basis a friend's recommendation and first impressions a very culturally diverse place offering multiple Asian, Hispanic options that go with our cuisine and day to day cooking. I was impressed with the expansive size and loved all the Asian veggies and fruit offerings that's definitely hard and expensive to find in other Asian stores. Saraga is a know store in California so it's good to see the expanded line in Indy. There's a huge fish counter and extremely authentic variety of Thai, Indian, Chinese, Mexican and many other flavors you can buy from. Highly recommend checking out!

Alberto walking away after I caught him staring at me while I was talking to the manager.

Alberto the security guard is incapable of interacting with customers. Justin S the store manager needs to be fired for incompetence as well as Jenny/ Jenni/ Jeni the "manager." This store is egregiously bad st customer service and I'll never come back thank god there's a much better location in town Pictures of the "security" who harassed me over rolling a basket out to my car when there are zero posted signs and refused to give me even another inch of space on the six inches he allowed me to move my groceries. Had to go back into the store to report Alberto and Jeni was very scared and uncertain and incapable of doing her job. She called over Justin S the store manager and he did not even speak to me before telling me to call the police which was hilarious and ridiculous. Do not shop here if you don't want security in your personal space threatening you over a rolling basket.

The new Saraga International Grocery in Castleton is a treasure trove for food enthusiasts! This expansive location that was once home to Target offers an incredible selection of international products, from a tremendous in-store food court, fresh fish, meat, and produce to specialty ingredients from all around the world. The aisles are well-organized, string it a part from their west side location. It's a true culinary adventure I always love to take no matter wish location I go to I always find delight in discovering unique spices, sauces, and snacks to take home and enjoy. I really started saving money by coming here to purchase my boba tea pearls and powders too. Whenever I am looking for a specific ingredient or I want to explore global cuisine, Saraga is a must-visit destination for all food lovers.

Outside shot of Saraga - incredibly cleaned up from Target days.

I enjoy shopping there I've been shopping there for quite some time now. Only thing I don't like is sometimes they don't have the electric carts so I try to shop early in the morning so maybe I can get electric cart. So if you ever in the neighborhood of downtown Indianapolis stop by Kroger's on East Michigan Street they have great values great products or you're not shopping just stop by and tell them what a great and wonderful job they're doing. I definitely give this store location of Kroger's five stars and two thumbs up in my review. I don't have any pictures to post and maybe next time I'm shopping there I'll take some pictures and get the names of the employees that are very friendly and edit my post and my review.

I also wanted something sweet and ended up with this chocolate tres leches style cake. Never had anything like this before and it wasn't bad. Not sure if I like all the liquid but I did like the flavor. And it was only 200 calories. If you've never had a cake like this I would definitely recommend trying it. And they had other flavors if chocolate isn't your thing. Would also recommend going to the customer service desk and signing up for a Kroger card so you can get the sale items. So all of the old reviews that mention Marsh don't apply to this newer store, now called Needler's Fresh Market. I don't know -- I think Needler's is pretty good! It has a little bakery on site (Lemon's Bakery Cafe), which has hot food and baked goods, with seating by big windows that overlook Mass Ave. Beyond the cafe, the rest of the joint is a small grocery store. You'll find a modest produce section with fresh-looking greens and fruit and things. They sell house-made hummus and sushi. The wine section is abysmal, but I did find a bottle of one of my cheapie low-key favorite bottles of Malbec here, so I picked that up. The dried ramen section is also better than it needs to be. The prices seem to be about the same as Kroger and other grocery stores. Checkout was quick and there were several registers open. The only thing is that I entered through the cafe and exited by the registers, so I got a little turned around once I exited. Keep in mind that you can only enter/exit through the cafe at certain hours. They lock that door after a particular time. (I think it's 5 or 6 p.m.)

However, I was waiting in line 12 and a child in front of me dropped some coins and was paying for his own cookies. His mother was in front of him, so I helped him try to find his coins and so did she, and there was only one person behind me. Everything moved along relatively smoothly, but when I got up to the register, and the mother and son had left the cashier who is an older lady wanted to complain to me about the woman that her son taking too long and moving in the way, and having their cart still there whatever I told her twice that it was not a big deal and that I didn't care about the weight, but she wanted me to join in with her in demeaning this customer that was before me. I expect a lot more from the cashiers at Meijer because I've never had this experience before, but I was in a really good mood because it was New Year's Eve and she really soured the moment. How rude.

It has been nearly nine years since my original review of this Meijer location, an eagerly…read moreanticipated arrival for me as a longtime fan of Meijer. An updated review is long overdue. First off, the anticipated battle between Wal-Mart and Target has been a non-starter. All three still co-exist within about a mile or so of each other with Target, in particular, blossoming with the growth of Glendale Town Center. While my original review was for opening weekend, this review is now several years in with hours changed, staffing patterns established, and a sense of the mundane established. ADA still tends to be fine (and slightly better than Target in my opinion. The Ben's Pretzels that was here is long gone. The South Bend Chocolate Company spot that was planned never came to be. The area where you can buy pizza is a small dining area at the back of the store with a few tables and a vastly reduced selection. The pharmacy here is still a highlight. I've always appreciated the staff - something I can seldom say about the rest of the store. As a chain, Meijer has a long history of hiring people with disabilities and frequently for more than being a doorway presence. In the battle of the three major stores (Target, Wal-Mart, Meijer), there's no question Target's the winner. I primarily head to Meijer for certain items, for pharmacy (I don't care for CVS pharmacy, a Target partner), and for ice. I also head here because the accessible parking is superior to Target and Meijer has small carts that are easier for a wheelchair user to manage. Customer service? Clearly a Target win. It's not even close. Even at opening, Meijer fell short and it's only gotten worse here. Last night, I visited Meijer in search of a few items. I can almost never find help to reach an item. Customer service continues to carry on personal conversations in lieu of serving people. The self-serve check-out is nearly always unreasonably long. Actual check-out lanes are typically 2-3 available with ungodly long waits. As an ostomy wearer (if you don't know, you probably don't want to), mine actually popped last night because I was in line so long waiting. Seriously. Seriously inexcusable. I live about 2 miles and five minutes from this location. I frequently get in my car and drive all the way to McCordsville because that location is better staffed, friendly, has greater selection, and is immensely cleaner. I realize it's newer, but it's actually been a while and I consistently have a better experience. Yes, I know McCordsville is a small town. Yes, I know 56th and Keystone is a bit rougher area (as evidenced by the fact that security and/or IMPD is consistently a presence here). But, really? If you're going to have this location why not show some pride in it? My feelings of "meh" have given way to feelings of embarrassment to the Meijer chain for this location. I should not have an ostomy pop because I've waited in line for so long trying to check out. The cashier? Perfectly fine (I do tend to view Meijer employees as Stepford employees...incredibly robotic and devoid of personality). Am I done here? Probably not. It's too convenient. However, more and more I'm giving my hard-earned dollars to Target and/or making the trip to McCordsville. This area deserves more than a dirty and under-staffed Meijer with a worse selection. I absolutely want Meijer to continue to be here - I just want this Meijer to be representative of the best of Meijer instead of the worst.
