I remember receiving call from him at 7pm when we were finalizing him for our son before he was born. He made sure he called me the same day even if it was post hours for him. Whenever I send an email to him for any query or health concerns, he always makes sure that he himself or his care team calls me to check on the symptoms in detail and then advise accordingly. We loved the fact we could get in touch with him and Dr Sharma at anytime and they were always so nice and very patient with me being a first time mom and calling for every hiccup. (You know how that is right?) My low rating comes from the circumcision procedure. The initial procedure went well and I felt like everything would be ok. Within a few weeks however I noticed it just didn't look right. I asked both doctors if it was supposed to look as it did and they both reassured me he would lose his "fat pocket" and it would look normal. We had to change insurance and our current pediatrician did a well check and low and behold, he was NOT circumcised correctly. We gave it 6 months to see if it would correct itself and it didn't. We were then referred to Oaklands Childrens Hospital to see a specialist (5 star btw for O.C.H. urology dept!!) and the specialist told us it was a botched circumcision and that if we didn't correct it, there could be loss of feeling and/or pain later in life. I hate that fact that I feel like it wasn't handled correctly and that my feelings about it were brushed off. Specially after I paid the $200 and the check was cashed the day of the procedure.... There is a possibility of us returning to him one day as we do want more children but circumcisions will be done by O.C.H. if I can swing it with my insurance/future insurance company.

After talking to him during those initial hospital visits we decided to move our son's care under him and switched right away. Glad we did because he is really good with parents like us who have many questions and always looking for detailed answers. His staff, especially Amanda is awesome. She is great with kids and knows her stuff well since she is been in this for a long time. BUT on Dec 11, 2020 for our second month check up there was another staff who helped us check in with weight, height and initial set of questions, she was rude and also sarcastic about questions such as "is this thermometer generally accurate" and she says "well it just recorded 98F it MUST be accurate" During that visit I just wished Amanda would come back for the shots and I am so glad she did.. otherwise we would have come back another day. I am hoping Amanda always takes care of our son's immunizations and not the other lady. That was really unacceptable and needs to be rectified by PAMF

Yes, it is a bit odd to have a doctor answer the phone all the time, but he is more than happy to set up an appointment, and he always is thorough on details pertaining to the patient. He has even come through last minute when we needed him. My recent experience, he requested a blood testing (which hasn't been done by my other two children from previous experience) for my youngest child (he asked me if my child had been taking in any iron) and they found my youngest has an anemic condition from that blood test. With a regular provider, I'm pretty certain (based on my other two children) that I may not have even known about his condition had I not come here. He's always been so patient and friendly whenever we come to his clinic to get our child checked. He always thinks of the patient and is always happy to help the parent navigate anything they need for their child. After assigning him as my child's PCP the process has always been so smooth. I don't have to wait on the phone for odd amount of minutes (I have been on hold for nearly an hour to set up appointments in the past), he's in a decent location, no waiting 2 to 3 weeks of appointment time to get my child's needs taken care of. He will take you in within the same week, if not the same day, if he has the availability. I highly recommend this doctor if you are looking for someone who is always more than happy to help, can take care of your child's needs first, and not having to navigate through a whole system to get an appointment.

He is now a big shot administrator, but still sees us in his limited times. One quick story to illustrate my point: one time, we were at the clinic for an emergency and were assigned to a different doctor randomly selected. Lo and behold we found Dr. Hu waiting for us in the physician's room. Apparently he had found out that we were there and made himself available to see my son. Nobody would do that.
