I recently gave Sarah's Nails a try in Ridgefield after I was dissatisfied with the other nail salons in town. Walking in, I recognized Sarah right away. She used to own New Burtis Nails in New Canaan. She was very nice and always took care of her clients. I had been wondering where she had gone (when I lived in New Canaan). I was in to get a gel manicure which Stephanie did. She did an amazing job! The color is beautiful and it has been a week and still looks as good as new. Stephanie was very sweet and talkative. I will definitely ask for her in the future. After I was finished with my treatment, Sarah gave me a bunch of coupons and a gift certificate for a pedicure for the next time. I went in the following day when i had time and that the most relaxing pedicure. It was nice and quiet when I went and I almost fell asleep. HA! After the massage, Sarah treated me with a free 20 minute chair massage by Mariam. She had the strongest hands and gave a wonderful massage. No complaints here! So far, this has been the best experience in Ridgefield and I will be back soon! read more

Terrible experience! Was not aware that the previous owner Sarah had left, what a difference she made. Sarah was the most friendliest, warmest, and accommodating with her clients. I came in with my daughters (4 and 7 years old) and 2 nieces for a girls day out. They were charged full adult price ($70 plus each) for their mani and pedis, unlike before when Sarah would give kids special pricing under $40. Their services were rushed and not as good as before. Definitely less courteous and much more rushed. I also got a spa pedicure, and while drying my nails at the end the male nail tech gave me a massage. I asked if it was included and he nodded yes. However, when it came time to pay the bill the new owner had the audacity to charge me extra for it. After arguing with her over this dishonest and misleading sales practice they took it off the bill. I also had a small gift certificate from 6 months prior and the new owner laughed at me saying it was old and couldn't be used. I let her know Sarah gave it to me to use anytime for up to a year and she scoffed. The new owner is condescending and lacks courtesy and professionalism needed to retain her neighborhood clients. I was absolutely disgusted with their customer service and will never come back. Now that she's gone, TAKE SARAH's NAME OFF THE BUSINESS SIGN! Stop misleading and be more upfront and honest with your clients. read more

I've been going here for years. Sara, the owner, is wonderful and takes such pride in her business. She always throws in extras and as part of the service she provides a nice chair massage which is a great treat. The quality of their work is really good and it's a very welcoming atmosphere. I gave them a try multiple times. I made an appointment every time and was still out in the back burner. I have an important vacation/wedding to leave for and did a pedicure on Saturday and gel manicure on Tuesday both appointments made in advance. on Saturday I showed up and wanted a spa pedicure they told me no no we are all out. I did not care I just needed my feet looking good. meanwhile 20 min later a woman comes in gets the spa pedicure right next to me. the owner apologized and said it was because they had other appointments coming in. I made my second appointment then for Tuesday to get a gel manicure. I came in and was treated like I did not have an appointment. My manicure was rushed and all my cuticles are bleeding and sore as well as the polish looking like I did it myself. I am so disappointed and the owner knew it was a bad job as she has given me my third "gift card" since I've been coming. Do not recommend.they are a pure hit or miss. However on my third visit they failed to actually schedule my every other Saturday appointment and could not fit me in so I rescheduled for another day. When i arrived for my 4th appointment they asked me to come back later as they were busy, even though I had a scheduled appointment. This salon has gone significantly downhill--just got the worst manicure/pedicure I've ever had there. I got cut in 4 different places during the manicure and the technician did not apply the product to the cuts that stops the bleeding, but rather she applied nail polish remover to the open wounds. Also, this salon has always included shoulder massages with your service, for which I would tip extra--but I received no massage, nor did the other customers in the salon. I came here to get my eyelashes done and I would've 100% have rather bought lashes myself and done it myself. The lady got so much glue in my eye that it was burning like crazy well after I was done. And I told her to do very dramatic looking eyelashes (long and concentrated) and she gave me the shittiest looking lashes. They are probably the same size as my natural lashes so it makes absolutely no sense. Save your money and go to someone who actually knows what they're doing. read more

I asked for my feet to be massaged/calluses removed and when they rung me up... $75 later... I refused to pay that amount and walked out paying $55+tax. They maintain a very high level of care and are meticulous to make sure you are completely satisfied. I started getting foundation nail gels after she recommended them for my brittle, flakey short nails ( I'd given up on them). I have been very happy with my foundation manicures at Sarah's... They look amazing and natural. My nails are actually long! If I've ever had a break or any issues with them she has always, without skipping a beat, redone them. I used to love this place!! Sarah IS so kind and she really wants the best for her customers. But everyone else that works there are scammers. I went to get my legs waxed and they used the exact same strip every time. Every other place that I've been to using a new strip for each area they wax. I say to myself ok don't worry I'm sure it'll be fine. I then get off the waxing bed and I look down at my legs there are red bumps up and down my legs. I didn't take any pictures because I wasn't on yelp when this happened but I then feel my legs and there is still so much hair. I then tell the woman who did it and she first said that that always happens. But it has never happened to me. And I say that. Then she plays the I don't understand card. So then I get my manicure and it was average. One tif the nails were square while the others were round. She also was trying to scam me into getting a 15 dollar more expensive gel but I thought she was saying that it was free so I was like oh it's free?? And she said yeah but then Sarah, the owner, screamed at her in Korean or something and then Sarah said that it wasn't and she apologized. After my manicure we go back into the waxing room and try to get the rest of the hair off and she then all of a sudden doesn't understand me when I'm telling her to not use just one waxing strip the entire time and instead to use different ones each time she rips off the strip. But then she did it her way and I stayed there for 30 more minutes going over each area of my legs that had hair on it. The bumps stayed on my legs for 4 days until they disappeared. All in all never going back there and I actually go all the way to Stamford now just to go to a good nail place. read more

What a horrible establishment and horrible owner, if I could give this place zero stars I would. Took off my expensive acrylic nail set without my permission . Put on shitty extension tips and everything just looks fucked up about them paid $65 when all I walked in asking for a fill-in and a color change. Left very upset but they took off my nice acrylic nails that I got less than three weeks ago The owner blamed it on a communication error when there was no communication at all she did what she wanted. After years at Jenny's, I have very high expectations of my nail technician - from attitude to cleanliness and service. Sara who runs/owns Jenny's is one tough cookie. She takes a lot of flack for being hard on her staff. Now I understand why Nails by Jenny is so far superior in Ridgefield. I have been going to Jenny nails for a number of years now. I had tried all of the Salons in Ridgefield and Jenny nails came out way ahead in terms of cleanliness, professionalism and kindness. When I first started going I was not thrilled with a manicure...not bad just okay(new girl). Sarah sensed it right away, had it fixed and gave me a free coupon for my next manicure. Sarah is always attentive to her customers and truly cares about the quality of service she is giving to her clientele. I now get gel nails and absolutely love them. The price here is a bit higher but Sarah gives free pedicure certificates which offsets the slightly higher price over time. If you are a regular you may even come out ahead of the other salons as her manicures seem to last longer. (Michelle does a wonderful job) Sarah also has a very kind heart. Don't let her efficient demeanor deceive you. I became ill and Sarah knew it. Whenever I showed up at the Salon she would immediately make me sit down and have one of the free staff give me a massage before my manicure, not just during and after. I was recommended to NBJ from our realtor. We just moved here and she has been telling me about places to go. I went once for a pedi and once for a mani. There wasn't a long wait, my nails look excellent and they even give you a massage while your nails are drying!!!!! Another thing I loved was the price!!!! he is so much less expensive than what I am use to, so now I will be able to get my nails done much more often! I highly recommend NBJ!!! About 5 years ago I decided to make a change from the nail salon I had been going to for many years since I was not happy about their growing lack of concern about cleanliness. There are so many salons in Ridgefield to choose from, and I checked out about 4 over the course of a couple months. I chose Jenny Nails because their technicians always do a great job on my nails and the place is super clean. And as a bonus, there are excellent back and neck massages as well! I notice that other reviews mention the owner being a strong personality. I have gone to this salon for years. I agree that Sarah the owner does tend to talk sternly at her employees as she runs a tight ship. There seems to be a more relaxed atmosphere at the salon when she is not there. She does have preferential treatment of regular clients but don't show up without an appointment as you are not treated as well. My biggest bone of contention is that after having shelac manicures there for years my nails have always gotten very thin..I would take a break to let my nails build back up over a couple of months and start again as I love the way the shelac looks. When I had attempted to speak to Sarah about my concerns with the thin nails after having the shelac manicures for a while she would tell me it was because I "you wash you hands a lot at you job. you nails are dry""...she would not entertain the thought that the nails were being filed down too thin. She had suggested getting gels under the shelac so protect my nail beds...so I payed the extra and followed her suggestion. Boy was that a mistake...I was paying more $$ for the same result..thin nails due to over filing. In addition to this they disrupted my cuticle bed under my thumb and now my nail bed is deformed where the nail grows out...forever. My Dr. couldn't not even do anything for me. If I let my nails get too long the nail will get caught on something and bend back due to the lack of support where the cuticle used to be (under my nail at the tip of the finger). Initially when I noticed this when they took the gel / shelac off I showed sarah wanting to know what was going on and her response was "it fine..you just wash hand alot at you work"....She knew something was wrong because after my manicure that day she sent me on my way with a coupon for a free pedicure.....Really Sarah...guess what ...it not ok! Also one last word......even if you only get spa pedicures when you qualify for a free service it will only be a regular pedicure. She will also charge extra for an "extended" leg rub with your spa pedicure. She has a card system as most salons do but it is a plastic card that they will keep in your box (if you buy one)....an let me tell you ...they don't always process your visits on that card so beware.
