I am always so impressed with the care I receive from Dr. Sarah Yamaguchi. I feel so fortunate to have her as my gynecologist. I make a three-hour drive to see her and she is worth every minute of my time. During today's visit, she spent thirty-plus minutes with me. She started off the visit with her usual warm greeting and smile. Her calm demeanor has a way of making me feel at ease. Since my last visit, I had undergone abdominal surgery and she was genuinely concerned about how I was doing. Her kindness meant so much to me. During my annual exams, Dr. Yamaguchi is the gentlest gynecologist I've ever had. On top of that, she performs THE most thorough breast exams. As always, I left feeling cared for and absolutely confident that I had just received the best possible care. I'd say that she is quirky but her bedside manners are great and a great person to interact with however if you had issues that needs probing or investigation or just a bit out of the ordinary (like hormone levels, polyps etc) then I wouldn't go to her because I don't think she does those things, she might be great at delivering babies (I am not sure since she didn't deliver my baby) but as a general OBGYN I do have questions about her abilities read more

43 year old male here. I went to sarah for the Alma TED treatment for male pattern baldness. I started loosing my hair in my early 20s, so I try to keep realistic expectations on what can actually be done. But after 3 treatments it looks like it's working. I'm sure I'll have a better idea on how well it worked after more time passes, but my wife says it thicker now. So that's a win! The process is easy and painless. I have been seeing Dr. Yamaguchi for the past 3 years. She came recommended from a mom's group on FB. I came for my annual gyn appointment today, I requested a Pap smear as I do every year. Dr. Yamaguchi proceeds to tell me that it is only recommended every 3-5 years (fine no problem that's her job) I tell her that I'm more comfortable doing it yearly. She then says to me "why don't you get a pap every month then?" Obnoxious, rude and unprofessional. What is NOT her JOB or business is to tell me the costs associated with having to perform a pap or insurance cost, or if I have to take off of work for the appointment I'm currently at (which I did not) and if I had it would not be her concern. For her to continue to try and dissuade me when I said I'm more comfortable having it performed is out of line. I pay for my insurance and if it cost me anything then let me worry about it. I won't be back and I'll be sure to let others know about my experience. This is the second year she has done this I should've switched to a new provider last year. I was referred to Dr Yamaguchi for a very specific reason and shared that reason with the office when I called. But for some reason they booked me for a well woman visit which I told them I didn't need since I had already had one that year. When I arrived, I observed Dr Yamaguchi complaining about a patient to her staff right in front of me, which seemed highly unprofessional. Then when she saw me, she started yelling at me that I shouldn't have been booked for a well woman visit. I reminded her that I clearly told her staff what I was coming for, which she then yelled at me about more because apparently she doesn't treat that. Her manner was completely rude and dismissive. I don't usually write reviews, however after finally getting the help I needed- after a month of hospital visits and doctors not giving me any direction to improve, I found Dr. Yamaguchi. I was lucky enough to just find her through my insurance companies search results. She attended me immediately, was extremely engaged and caring, and knew exactly what needed to be done to finally get me some relief. I was in and out so quickly. The office is very clean and actually quite cute. Didn't give a cold Dr's office feel at all. She made sure to message me as she said she would regarding next steps. She followed up on my blood work right away- and again gave me the best course of action. You can tell she is passionate about what she does and actually cares. I called to schedule an appointment. Esmeralda set up my consultation as new patient. After waiting for almost two months to the appointment date I got to the office and Esmeralda said they accept my insurance HMo but not the specific group that I have. That was so disrespectful with my time. I missed work and had to arrange my agenda to be there and they simply does not take my insurance "group"... Why she didn't tell me that when I gave my insurance information by the phone? Horrible front desk service. Long overdue review... She doesn't care about you, or at least that is how I felt. She misdiagnosed my miscarriage as an ectopic miscarriage. Her lack of empathy when I lost 20 lbs in my first trimester had me seriously doubt she would be the best fit to deliver my baby. I was so weak when I couldn't keep food down for 2 weeks and was barely able to keep water down. Instead of caring, she talked badly about me with her co-worker (a male doctor in the same building) who she referred me to when she was not available. I'm really surprised to see so many good reviews about this doctor. Well, she for sure only cares about you if you are having a baby, and doesn't take all other matters as seriously. I have a long history of painful periods, ovarian cysts, etc. She put me through a long series of uncomfortable exams, and her office staff called me to tell me an incorrect diagnosis, and to make an appointment immediately to discuss results. When I arrive for my results appointment, she basically tells me I shouldn't be in so much pain and if I don't want to try more birth control to just consider therapy or acupuncture at this point... Complete waste of my time and really insensitive to my needs and concerns, and actual problems and illnesses going on in my body. I disagree with all the other reviews praising her, and because of her "suggestions" I had to go to more therapy for a year before my insurance approved me seeing another gynecologist. The whole medical system is trash, especially out here in Los Angeles. And I'm still suffering from all of the same problems I had before seeing her. Her front desk staff is also a nightmare. I have had the worst experience with this entire office. They knew my insurance information for over a month and a half, only to tell me they have moved offices and can't take my insurance anymore (30 minutes before my appointment). Myra at the front desk was laughing while I was trying to figure out a solution on the phone. I can get over a bad receptionist if the doctor is good, and I was still very excited to be seeing Dr Yamaguchi. Upon seeing her, she was talking immediately about prices instead of hearing what I had to say. That was concerning already. It turns out I needed to have imaging done at an imaging center. The doctor is supposed to send the information on what scans I need to the center. HOWEVER. I called the imaging center and they informed me that they didn't receive enough information from Dr. Yamaguchi. They told me they were really surprised at the lack of detail she provided, and I would not be able to make an appointment until she provided the details. Imaging center told me they called her office with no response , but when I called she swore they hadn't called her. Later, she did admit that she missed a call from them. This was immensely disappointing and the final straw. They just want money. They do not care about your health. Beware. read more

Dr. Yamaguchi is the best! She takes her time with you, is funny and is both direct but also doesn't freak you out about the small things. I had my daughter 3 years ago and everything went very smoothly and have also recommended her a ton of friends who all love her as well. I really wish people wouldn't leave bad reviews for the office staff on this page since it's a shared doctor's office and this page specifically for Dr. Yamaguchi. With my last gyno (Dr. Hill) I always felt like I was being rushed out but Dr. Yamaguchi always comes in with a great attitude and awesome jokes/commentary and explains what she's doing and answers all of my questions. 1. I should've known that this wasn't the place for me when I had to wait for two hours for a simple ultrasound. 2. The nurse who drew my blood asked the same million questions that the doctor did. Shouldn't that info be in my chart...the one that you're holding in your hand? 3. In every doctor's office I've been in, either the doctor or the receptionist has told me when I needed to come back for another appointment. That never happened. I would always have to tell them. With it being my first time being pregnant, I wasn't sure how often you were supposed to go in for check ups. Thankfully Google works wonders. 4. I hated placing my urine sample on a counter along with several other ones. I'm not sure if that's normal, but it seemed a tad bit unsanitary to me. 5. Dr. Yamaguchi was extremely sweet, but not as thorough as I would've hoped. During my 16 week check up, I told her that I thought I was feeling movement. She brushed it off and told me that it was too early in my pregnancy to feel anything. After continuing to feel "movement" for a couple of weeks, I made an appointment with another OBGYN who came highly recommended. Come to find out, the movement I was feeling was actually contractions. I was 2 cm dilated going into premature labor. Needless to say, I was diagnosed as having an incompetent cervix and was immediately placed on hospital bedrest in the high risk prenatal unit. I ended up giving birth to my son at 22 weeks, and unfortunately he passed after a few hours. Of course I'm not blaming Dr. Yamaguchi for nature taking it's course, but I wish she would've at least checked me to rule out any possible scenarios. If it was detected early enough I may have been able to get a cervical cerclage and possibly carry my son to term. read more

Dr Yamaguchi delivered my first baby in 2013. I could not be more happy and grateful for that. My delivery went really well and she did an amazing job. I was always terrified of the stitching part after pushing the baby out but not only did I not feel it, she just put me at ease about everything. She was really amazing. My mother saw her for a regular OBGYN visit and LOVED her. My mom is VERY picky about doctors and has gone to many in her life and Dr Yamaguchi was by far her favorite. Dr Yamaguchi has been my GYN for the past 9 years and I can't say enough good things about her! I know going for your annual exam isn't the most pleasant thing for most women, but I actually look forward to mine because it means I get to catch up with Dr Y. She always puts you so at ease and truly cares about her patients. I've never had a doctor who was so willing to take her time if I had questions and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me as a person. She really gives you her full attention and I've never felt like she was rushing off to another patient. She recently opened her own private office and it's a beautiful facility. Appointment scheduling is so easy and can all be done through their patient portal! She's been my doctor since 2015! Delivered my daughter and it was a wonderful fast easy birth! I did not tear at all which was awesome because with my other kids I did! She's a great doctor because she doesn't sugarcoat anything she tells it how it is and sometimes it's not what you want to hear. That's what I like and respect about her. Her staff is great as well! I started seeing Dr. Yamaguchi for my pregnancy, and she just recently delivered my baby. Let me just say that my husband and I could not have been more pleased with the entire experience of appointments with Dr. Yamaguchi and all of her great expertise. It is quite evident she is extremely experienced and an expert in her field. Also, for my labor and delivery, she was incredible. Dr. Yamaguchi was my OBGYN for my pregnancy and she also delivered my baby a few months ago. She went above and beyond for me. I developed postpartum preeclampsia and without her I don't know what I would have done. As soon as I called her a week after delivery and told her my symptoms she had me come in to check my blood pressure and immediately admitted me back into the hospital. She went out of her way to go to a pharmacy to get me the meds I needed. She let me contact her every day for 6 weeks with my blood pressure numbers so she could keep an eye on my recovery. I'm so thankful for her. Also, during delivery she was amazing. She made it so my tearing was minimal and recovery was a breeze. My baby needed to go to the NICU and she was on top of it when it came to knowing something was wrong and calling the NICU team in as fast as possible. She also has an amazing personality, she's always bubbly and funny. I would recommend her to any and everyone. Thank you Dr. Yamaguchi!!! read more

I am sad to say that our experience with Dr. Yamaguchi has been ruined by the careless behavior of her office staff. Dr. Yamaguchi delivered our first child and we are very satisfied by her performance as a doctor. We have since continued with her through three failed pregnancies. Unfortunately, her office has made the painful road of failed pregnancy even more difficult to navigate by failing to communicate with secondary care facilities. They have repeatedly forgotten to fax authorizations or sent authorizations for the wrong procedures. When confronted, they systematically deflect any wrongdoing and lie to us about the status of our own paperwork. This pattern of carelessness has pushed us to the edge of our patience and our sanity. We are very disappointed by Dr. Yamaguchi's choice in staff. These people simply do not care about the welfare of her patients. Please spare yourselves and find a doctor with a professional support staff. read more

Four stars for Dr. Yamagutchi, one star for her inadequate receptionists. I had a procedure done and was told I needed to pay upfront and later be reimbursed. After the procedure I asked the receptionist if I needed to call my insurance. Instead of going over the details she rushed me out stating "they take care of everything." After receiving a EOB from my insurance I called Dr. Yamagutchi's office to confirm a refund. Note the refund was for $800 which is why I was so intent. I called the number listed on my receipt from Spectrum, and was rudely told (by the receptionist of course) not to call that number but instead another number. Shouldn't the correct number be listed in the first place?? I was able to speak with billing and she was more pleasant to talk to than the front desk ladies at Spectrum. Billing said the refund would be submitted and processed but only since I called. It had been three weeks since my procedure and evidently the front office actually didn't handle it. read more

While I sincerely adore Dr. Yamaguchi, dealing with scheduling an appointment with her is a nightmare. I had booked her way in advance and a few days before my appointment, I was asked to move mine because she is scheduled for a C-section. Fine. But again, a few days before my revised appointment, I was again asked to reschedule as she won't be in the office. I'm in client service too, and I would never dream of treating my clients this way.
