To say that this place is great is inaccurate... cause it's amazing!! Amazing people, amazing pastries, amazing all around.

Picked up a chicken dinner, roasted veggies and some odds and ends including mini pies and cupcakes. This fed a family of five and was absolutely delicious. The chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection and if you love vegetables they serve up a perfect medley. Lastly, any dessert I've ever bought was the best I've had anywhere. Hands down. During my most recent visit back to my home town, I hit on Sarah's bakery while in South Hills doing some shopping in the Bridge Road area. My niece and I split a creamy and decadent mini coconut cream pie and my cousin indulged in her fave, the cannoli. I will definitely have to make a return trip on my next visit home. Sarah's also had a nice selection of savory breads with their sweets too. Judging from the business, I hope to see Sarah's become a staple of the neighborhood. read more

This bakery is one of my favorite spots in town! I've visited twice, and both times the staff were very friendly and the treats were delicious. Today I bought a s'mores whoopie for myself and a berry cheesecake for my partner. The s'mores whoopie was AMAZING. It's flavorful without being too rich and I have no doubt that the cheesecake will meet the same standard. Each were about $3 but they're fairly large and fresh so I think it's a fair price for a local bakery. read more

Sarah is the best damn baker in Charleston. Hell, the Kanawha valley. She makes the stuff put out by those pikers in Spring Hill look like Sara Lee. Sarah makes the first truly good pie in Charleston since Southern Kitchen closed. Her whoopie pies are divine. The pot pies made me reassess my Banquet-bred dislike of the genre. Everything is great. I love this place! When you walk in the door it smells like heaven. The set up super cute and it's super clean. My boyfriend and I have tried lots of different deserts and goodies from Sarah's. The first time we visited my 4 year old son got a cup cake when he tasted he said, "that's perfect!" I agreed everything was perfect. My dad and stepmom swear by this bakery not only for their sweets but also their pot pies and quiches. As a Charleston transplant, I haven't had a chance to check out Sarah's until a recent visit home. I tried four things: quiche (with tomato, mozzarella, and spinach), a strawberry cream puff, the key lime tart, and a tiny bite of red velvet cake. I have an insatiable sweet tooth (and am also a baker), and I was super impressed with both the cream puff and the key lime tart. The crust of the tart was really excellent. I don't buy the hype of red velvet cake, nor do I like overly sweet frostings, so I really didn't enjoy the cupcake. I'm not too familiar with fancy quiches, but the ones I've eaten before are firmer. This was very thick and creamy...kind of like a silky tofu texture. So maybe that's what quiche is supposed to be like, but I really didn't enjoy the super soft filling. I was a bit surprised by the prices considering it's a bakery in Charleston, WV, but it seems like they do good business despite that. And a really good cream puff is worth a little extra dough! read more

We visited this bakery for the first time at about 1:30PM on a Saturday which should be considered prime time for a place like this. We kept missing it being open because they were always closed for whatever reason when we wanted to visit before. The overall pastry/sweet treat selection was so minimal I couldn't believe it. I wanted a decedent treat and there just weren't any available. I ended up purchasing "truffles" and my husband got a few treats. The "truffles" were overpriced and not like any truffle I'd had. I ended up going home and making cookies myself. Disappointed; the hype made it seem worth the trip. read more

Sarah's bakery is wonderful for cookies, cream puffs, eclairs, and Quiches. Even the cakes are great! The only reason I'm not giving it a four star is that for $28 I had to throw her apple pie out. All I could taste was the sweet topping, the apples had no flavor and the taste was like tossing apples in flour . The cream puffs are filled with an icing like filling that is not at all a cream and should be called an icing horn. It also was not very good for the high price . I will definitely go back but I will be careful as to what I choose. read more

Let me first start off by saying I do love her cannolis!!! and the. Hockey pot pie is wonderful! However, I do feel that one can buy better cupcakes and that are slightly less expensive elsewhere in our city. I have also been in the shop while Sarah was there I multiple occasions and was never addressed or acknowledged my presence in her shop. I would yield more stars if I felt like me business there mattered. read more

This place is as good as it gets as bakeries/sweet treats go in Charleston! The red velvet cake, chicken pot pie and brownies are to die for -- and that's just the beginning! Don't miss the pies, cupcakes, cookies, cake balls... I could go on and on. And yes, you read that right, I said chicken pot pie! They do savory pies and quiches for those who don't have a sweet tooth. Everyone is always very friendly and the location on Bridge Rd makes it easy to find a parking spot nearby. They do special orders for birthday cakes and things like that, too. Don't sleep on this one. read more

I go to Sarah's about once a week, so I've probably tried almost everything she has (except her famous chicken pot pie which has cooked carrots in it). It's ALL good, just differing levels of deliciousness. My personal favorites? The Mac-Daddy cookies, the chocolate croissants, the salted caramel sticky buns, and this fantastic BBQ pot pie which is pulled pork BBQ with a layer of mashed potatoes before the crust. A layer of mashed potatoes. Her cake balls? The best ever....I generally find them to be dry but Sarah has some type of magic that makes each bite incredibly moist. I love her savory scones too and I wish she would make more non-sweet things, but it's probably the sweets which sell. Sarah's is amazing. Amazing. And have I mentioned how good it is? read more
