I've gone to this store for years, and overall have had a pretty decent experience. However, tonight I bought a dog kennel and an employee carried it to my car, as I could barely lift it. I get it home and set it up tonight, and it's definitely been used, the wire bars are sticky with what I'm assuming is urine, and the bottom tray is clearly stained with urine and maybe bleach? Needless to say, I won't be putting my dog In there, and now I've got to find a way to return something I can barely lift. read more

They have a good selection of dog toys and the staff is always friendly. I have grown fond of having my dog food delivered to my doorstep though and their selection was often missing our brand/flavor/recipe so I stick to the toy shopping. The grooming salon gets one star at best. I over-paid to have my dog brushed out and washed and have his nails clipped. He didn't get his nails clipped and he smelled so bad of cigarettes that my entire car smelled like cigarettes for two days after. I had to bathe my dog when I arrived home to get the cigarette smell off of him. The staff was rude and not welcoming or caring of the dogs. They were just the next dog in line in their inconvenient day. Horrible establishment. read more

I give them 5 stars for the store , the store staff, and the Banfield staff. I also give them -5 for the very bad service at the groomers they have . That would give them a '0' star, but I really like the store other wise, so I'll give them two stars . I took my two shih tzu puppies here for a bath and grooming at the groomers . One of my puppies came back panting like never before. May be they used very hot water, or may be they used high heat on the dryer for too long on her. I'm glad I took her back home in time. She drank tons of water and chose to sleep in the bathroom under the flush tank to keep cool the rest of that evening.. The other puppy was fine, and was not panting as much. He has more silky hair. May be they didn't have to turn up the heat as much to dry him. Both of them came back home with their dew claws just as long as they were . Their nails , some of them were not cut. This was back in February. I sure know I am not getting my puppies a bath there ever again after that panting incident. About the nails, I wanted to believe may be they missed some. I took them for a nail cut and ears cleaning here yesterday. The same thing again. Some nails are not attended to. The ear hair was even bigger a joke. I pulled out their ear hair myself after returning home. I'm not sure why I paid the groomer my money - to do it all myself again at home. I gave them a second chance. I've been bringing Desi, my 5 yo chihuahua mix there to get her nails clipped for many visits, 4 or more times so far. She doesn't handle nail clippings well and that's why we bring her there. So we're not the bad guy. I called them to see if it was too busy and if I needed to make an appointment. They said no. I asked if there was anything else I needed and they said no again. So I went home to get Desi. She doesn't handle nail clippings well so I get her last minute as to not traumatize her. She almost got away in the parking lot (told you she hates it) but I finally got her inside. First concern, just like an auto repair shop that isn't busy when they should be, there were at least 6 girls there and only one dog leaving. Not a good sign that no one was there. But we were already there and they have cut her nails before so I figured what could they screw up. Stupid assumption on my part. They took over 10 minutes to try and find her in the system. Not making Desi very happy. They couldn't find her. Gave them both last names (my girlfriend AND I) every phone number we have and still nothing. Mind you Desi's been there many times. So finally I said just start a new info packet for her and they said they needed proof of rabies. I pointed out her rabies tag and they said that wasn't sufficient. So they asked for Desi's vet phone number, called and they closed a half hour before. Mind you they could have told me to bring her proof of rabies but evidently they didn't care if they wasted my time or traumatized my dog. This is the last time I walk in there and I suggest you think twice before you do as well. If they don't care enough to tell me what I need on the phone, how much can they care for your pet when you're not with them. Like I said before, how good can they be if they're all standing around with no work on a Saturday. read more

The groomers are awesome....but ...PetSmart has a ridiculous policy, that if your dog is being treated for Congestive Heart Failure, they will not allow it to be groomed here. The dog is on regular medication, and has been going here for years, but now they are turning our pet away. I feel that if you are advertising that you are a caring company for pets, it makes sense to not "fire a customer" based on a corporate policy labeled to be in the animals best interest. read more

Worst grooming experience ever. Had a male groomer. He returned my baby to me and I tipped well. When I got home Lady Godiva had a 1 in. in diameter, circular cut on her face. It was impossible for the groomer not to notice and I stake my life that Lady yelped when it occurred. He said nothing. Shame! read more

5 STARS and a great turn around experience at the groomers. On a previous trip Our 5 pound Yorkie didn't look clean nor smell clean. We couldn't see where anything had been trimmed. We were told she was disruptive, inattentive and could only return during certain hours. We were shocked and disappointed. She has been groomed there for 3 years with never an issue!! 3/9/18 We returned for one last try. Tony groomed Lily and it's the VERY best she has ever looked!! We couldn't be happier. Great selection of fish. The only problem is the TANKS THEY SELL! There are two tanks you can buy that are betta tanks that hold only 1 quart of water!!! That is too small, but other than that, nice store, always stocked, always pretty friendly, and just a great pet store to go to. read more

Truly awesome service here every time! My 65ish lb golden retriever/collie mix has enough hair and anxiety for ten dogs. So I know she's not easy to groom. She trembles at the sound of clippers and tries to sit down anytime you go near her backside with a brush. Yet somehow she always comes home looking beautiful. The staff here are always so patient with her and I know they've had to work together to get the job done, but they never cease to amaze me and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my dog! read more

Don't go there for dog grooming.They don't honor their appointments and generally were extremely rude when I arrived with my dog.They came right out and said they would not service my dog for his appointment due to being short a staff member.All I needed was a message left on my answering machine informing me my appointment was cancelled. I got my dog home and called the store to speak to the manager.She said there was a medical emergency in the staff member's family.I get that but someone should have called me,as they claimed they called other customers.Manager offered a free bath,but after this experience I said,"No thanks!" I called PetSmart before heading out from Schuylerville to get my dog's nails trimmed, something I have never done before. I asked if I needed an appointment and was told to just come in. When I arrived I was asked for rabies vaccination paperwork. I was surprised because I was not told I would need it when asking about coming in for service. This equates to poor training, weak customer service, and an overall lack of anticipating the potential customer's needs. A wasted trip and a promise to never spend money at PetSmart are the two things I gained from the experience. I wish I looked at these reviews prior to calling, looks like the grooming department is a mess. read more

I'm no longer able to clip my elderly Lab's nails. I give Miss Kiki in the grooming salon 5 STARS. She is beyond patient with my old boy and even manages to clip the fur between his pads so he doesn't slip as much on my hardwood floors. I give the store 4 STARS overall, because the poop situation in the curbside areas outside the store is terrible. There are bags and a receptacle, but ppl don't seem to use them. While the store isn't to be blamed for the rude, slobby dog owners, it's still the store's responsibility to make sure their area is kept clean. read more

We have been bringing our animals to this PetSmart for years. Dr. Ryan and the amazing people who work at Banfield are simply the best. Their caring professional treatment for the animals and their owners is simply unmatched. We have always used the grooming department for our cocker and cockapoos. Bobby has been exceptionally talented and loving to our family. We are always pleased with how they looked and smelled. Tony was also so patient with our cocker who had anxiety issues. read more

I recently came to Petsmart with my dog to purchase some new toys. We were shopping together when all of a sudden he found a Mc Donald's chicken nugget on the ground. I thought that was very un-sanitary and discusting. We then proceeded to the toys. They were cheap and low quality. I also looked at the apparel and found that Petsmart only caters to dogs that are "XS" sizes. I was not satisfied with my experience at Petsmart. read more

I was in Saratoga, briefly, and decided to visit the adoption center in PetSmart. I was already planning to adopt near my home, but I thought since I was renting a car and in beautiful Saratoga, perhaps I could adopt from this location. The adoption rep was in the store and I fell in love with one of the kittens. I stood there holding and playing with this kitten while speaking to the rep, and another customer, for about 15-20 mins. I was heartbroken when I learned that adoptions are not done from the store. I would have had to drive up to Queensbury to process paperwork, and it was already the end of the day. While I understand the desire and need for thoroughness, in this day of technology the system DOESN'T work! I could have given a very good home to (2) kittens, but due to this archaic system they remain in a cage. I ask that the adoption organizations begin implementing systems for in-store adoptions, PLEASE! read more

This review is solely for the grooming salon: My boyfriend and I took our young, 8.5 month old Siberian Husky puppy to get the Pawdicure Plus package. We did not have an appointment (which was perfectly fine since this was a package that didn't require such). He has never had a salon experience before, so we thought it would be fun to give this a try and have his nails trimmed and the other goods that come with the package. When we walked in, the employees did not really greet us with a warm tone. One in particular seemed annoyed that we were even there (why? This is your job after all.) When they asked how he is on getting his nails clipped we told them the truth...we've been playing with his paws since we got him at 10 weeks old, so he is pretty good, but it is a 2 person job as one clips his nails while the other feeds him treats to keep him distracted. But he is not aggressive with anyone touching his feet by any means. We picked him up maybe after 20 minutes, but again the employees were rude and claimed he wasn't good with the nail trimming. You do realize you had a siberian husky *puppy* right? Of course he is not going to act as calm as, say an older dog. I don't think these people understand how some of these breeds are...if you can't handle high energy dogs (esp as they are puppies), what are you doing working in a pet grooming salon? The attitudes were just rude, and not interested in my dog...will not be taking him here again. We will continue to do the grooming ourselves. Disappointed PetSmart does not hire people who genuinely care and understand different dog breeds. read more

First of all let me start by saying Petsmart in Saratoga store is wonderful the staff is wonderful and so is the whole store let's get to where there's an issue the grooming salon is terrible the staff is rude and should not be working with animals animal lovers do you not bring your animals here I had a horrible experience they brought my dog out after $107 and my dog was filled with hair I paid extra money to get him the top dog I think that's what they called it he didn't even have a bandanna that was supposed to come with he also didn't smell good at all didn't even smell like he took a bath the lady offered to bring my dog back in after I waited four hours like I had nothing else better to do but wait for the dog to have another bath so while I was waiting the another groomer her name was Bobby was clipping a dogs toenails she must've clipped the dog too low because the dog started crying and would not stop this woman did absolutely nothing to console the dog she just kept going on with the next thing I wish I would've waited and told the owner of the dog but I did not want to make a scene when I asked if the dog was all right she totally ignored me apparently she's got the store manager fooled also because when the manager called me all she did was say how wonderful this woman was this was the second time that I have had direct contact with this lady she should not be working with animals at all she has A horrible personality and absolutely should not be working on animals do not bring them to the store!!!! read more

Petsmart sold me a sick guinea pig! We brought her home and within hours her eye started to have green discharge. Whne i called the store to get information on what to do for her, the associate was extremely rude. She stated that the animal probably had an upper respiratory infection and I would need to return it, get a merchandise credit and buy her back in 2 weeks if she survived. I explained that I couldn't do that, as my daughter was already attached, and asked if there were verts in the area that treated "exotics". She said "yeah, but it's going to be expensive". When i told her that while I understood that I agreed to their return policy, I didn't think her tone of voice was appropriate and that it wasn't unreasonable to expect a little more compassion from the associate who sold me the animal, she replied "what are you talking about?". Her entire attitide over the phone was rude and uncaring from the minute she answered. I was transferred to the manager, who was polite at first and agreed the associate was disrespectful, but when I explained to her that several people had warned me against Petsmart because of her employees rudeness (I should have listened to them!) she began talking over me and raised her voice. I finally hung up on her becasue I couldn't get a word in edgewise. I did find a local vet who diagnosed the guineau pig with pneumonia. She said that thiis store ,and others like it, get these animals from places where they breed them in large numbers. The animals are then shipped and stressed out, and often get sick. I believe they have no problem selling sick animals because they know no mothr will return the pet after their child gets attached. It cost me $60 to treat her. The vet says baby GP aften don't survive pneumonia. She has finished her meds and is still with us. Time will tell! GO TO BENSONS! They buy form local breeders and their associates are much more knowledgable and FRIENDLY! I purchased some other pet supplies there recently and every employee I encountered was helpful and kind. I never leave reviews, ever, but feel the need this time. This was the third time I brought my previously very hairy dog to PetSmart for grooming. The first two times were fine. But this time, the groomer was barely civil, and when I brought my border-collie / newfoundland mix in stated several times that he was going to be a lot of work. He swims a lot and rolls right after so he gets a lot of mats. After Christine told me again that he would be a lot of work and that she would need to cut him, I specifically told her that I understood he needed to be trimmed but NOT to shave him. Another dog was on a table being shaved when I was there. I said I understood and wanted my dog to be trimmed up, but that he should not look like the dog being shaved. When I picked him up, my double-coated long haired dog was shaved almost completely. One of the managers, Dave was sympathetic and agreed that they, Christine, dropped the ball. But that doesn't put the hair back on my dog. I am especially upset that my dog's outer coat is gone and the winter is coming. When my almost two-year old son saw the dog he said "hair all gone." This is not a good sign. Do not use this groomer. read more
