My husband's head next to the dosa, for scale

I was just looking for a casual place to get Indian food, so I was surprised when I walked in because the restaurant was much more upscale than anticipated. It was very busy but we were seated very quickly. I got the thali and my husband got the Masala Dosa. We were shocked by the portion sizes once the food came out, which I feel justified the high prices. We could've each realistically shared the Dosa and been pretty satisfied. The thali was so yummy and I really enjoyed sampling each little dish. The Dosa was also very yummy, but I wish there was more potato stuffing inside. We ran out of potato and started just eating the bread. Overall this was a very fun experience and provided us a great way to sample many kinds of dishes!

my daughters, with four different sauces inside was potato. She is a vegetarian.

I ordered the paneer mild, but it wasn't. They give you rice. The service is impeccable. They stand there at the beginning of the restaurant and watch their tables. You can get their attention at any time. Went on a Saturday night. The place was full.

Ok, THIS is an amazing place! If you are looking for an amazing delicious vegetarian Indian restaurant, this is IT! We ordered Dosa's and they were huge and delicious! Their service was quick and the place is very family friendly!

While I really like the idli Vada here and which is average priced , I was shocked by their prices for some of the other items like chole bhatura. It cost $17.50 and the quantity that came with it was a shocker. Ithe chole felt more of a mini side dish that wouldn't even be sufficient for a single bhatura. The average price to nearby restaurants showed up as under $13. I am fine paying the price they charge if only the quantity justified it. Also they do not serve water and you can only get bottled water which was another shocker for me.

Every time I come to this restaurant the food is excellent, the service is fast and smooth, and the staff are friendly and helpful! I ordered the South Indian thali and it did not disappoint at all! It always fills my stomach happy and my heart VERY happy! I love how such a big plate of food makes me feel so at home! This is a must-do eatery if you are making a trip to Mini-India for shopping.

First time trying Indian vegetarian food and it was delicious! Went with a group of 5 on a Saturday and it was busy. Tried the rava masala dosa, the tomato, onion and chilli uthappam, the paneer manchurian and the thali. So many different chutneys served with the dishes. My favorite was the rava masala dosa and the paneer manchurian. The paneer manchurian was crispy on the outside and coated with a sweet and spicy sauce. If you are like us, trying it for the first time and don't know what to order, just scan the take out menu, there are pictures of all the dishes. We did feel like it was on the pricier side, but the food was good.

We were a large group of 12, checking in for lunch and we had a great time. The service was prompt and great. Our server Ruchita was very helpful and always around and checkin on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was awesome as expected from Saravana Bhavan with a very authentic regional taste.

Saravanaa Bhavan is an Indian restaurant in New Jersey famous for its South Indian dishes. There are some North Indian curries served as well but Saravanaa Bhavan is an all and all South Indian restaurant. The main attraction of this restaurant is that it serves only pure vegetarian dishes which brings people to this place every time. Most of the customers who visit Saravanaa Bhavan , come for Dosa. There are different varieties of Dosa served with a tangy Sambar which gives you a real flavor of Indian spices and an aroma that remains with you even after you have left the place. Saravanaa Bhavan is the ultimate place to visit when looking for south Indian restaurants in New Jersey.

Teeters between upscale and casual vibes. Great location in Edison NJ. Lots of seating available and able to get seated quickly. We ordered Traditional masala dosa, Rava dosa and cheese dosa and all were amazing, served with 4 different chutney/sambar. Huge portion size, all you need it one item to be full. Wish Sambar was more flavorful and had more herbs. A bit too oily. Rava dosa took too long to prepare on a weekday. Lots of locations around the world.

Yup, I agree with most of the reviews. I know this chain, even when I was in Belgium, my friend took me to this restaurant. Also back in India so I know this chain quite well. But why they are not maintaining the same quality? Yup ambiance and service-wise- they are good, but I can still feel- their food items need improvement. We ordered- Mysore masala dosa Chettinad Cheese Masala Dos And Paneer 65- My bad, I expected something like indo-chinese as it was an appetizer, but it was just small paneer cubes fried in oil, with onions and chutney. The only star I am deducting is cause my dosa was soggy, it should be crunchy. Also, half of the dosa was undercooked. Chutneys which come with dosa - why it looked like they are full of water. My sambhar was not even warm. upon request, they fixed that. It's not like I won't come here again as quality-wise - they are still good, it's just they have to improve just a little more. A2B in Parsippany - now I feel, they are better than this. Sorry folks!!

We visited Saravana Bhavan on a weekday and it was an easy check-in, and getting seated. Ordering was easy as well, scan the QR code and you order via the Toast app. We ordered the combo meal, medu vada and madras coffee. The combo meal came with a masala dosa (good), idly (not good and hard texture), kichidi (good) and kesari (ok). The medu vada was also ok and not soft. Madras coffee was good too. The service was swift and easy.

Went back yesterday and we liked the Diwali lunch Thali. Very quick service and quick billing . Kids liked the idli and poori . Rava onion was very average . Less salt and didn't taste good at all .. Sambar quality has gone down too. Wait time was less . If the wait time was 45 mins plus , I do t think it's worth the food they serve .

First time trying South Indian food, great experience! Went on a Sunday around 11 am. Very busy and almost every table was filled but didn't have to wait. Lots of seating available in the restaurant which is nice. Very cozy and homey vibes. All the dosas came with three sauce/dipping options: spicy green one (fave), white one, red one. sorry my descriptions are vague!! idk what was in them. Ghee Masala Dosa (5/5) This was crunchy, crispy, and delicious. Had some masala in the center that went great with the dosa. Because the dosa was cooked in ghee it was very thin and crispy like a crepe cracker. Also I accidentally left my wallet which they were kind enough to keep for me!! Water came bottled, costs money here. Great experience, left very full and happy lol!

The tomato onion based curry lacked salt and spice and the actual soya pieces were too soft and mushy in texture. Wish these were a bit more dense as experienced in other restaurants. Roomali Roti- drown in ghee and it must have sat over a gas flame because it tasted of bad chemicals. Basically like eating the ghee-soaked cotton swabs from the candles at the local temple. That's the same reason I didn't click a lot of pics like I would usually do. The vegetable biryani, SPDP chaat and puris with aloo subzi came in no time from the time we ordered. As much as the food was tasty I found them bit salty and the subzi little oily - this coming from a salt lover who tends to add salt to anything he eats, you can trust me. Overall a good restaurant serving quality food and with ample parking space (weekend parking story could be little different).

When entering from Grove Ave, it's easy to be a little bit confused because the restaurant is stuck in the corner behind what used to be Stop n Shop and such. The shopping center is certainly very empty without the anchor grocery store, so it's often quite easy to miss this. Knowing that the restaurant opens dinner service around 6, we got here just before then and realized that the staff was already accepting people beforehand. That was great. As my girl is from Goa, this was a place that was on her mind for some time to try. Likewise, I wanted to try some authentic Maharastrian food too. To start, we ordered a mango lassi & a Kaira Panha. I stuck with the former, which was great. My girl enjoyed her drink too, though def not my first preference. For an appetizer, we ordered the Kothimbir Wadi. This was quite tasty and well enjoyed with the chutney. Certainly authentic. For the main meal, my girl enjoyed her fish fry. I got the Veg. Kohlapuri along with Garlic Naan. The Kohlapuri was good and was easily able to finish it. The only small gripe we had was that the tomato-based curry kinda reminded me of a North Indian korma that you'd get from other establishments. My girl noted this and do wonder whether this is truly the proper way of making and enjoying a Vegetarian Kohlapuri. She noted it was meant to not have a tomato base and was supposed to be a bit more flavorful. As this was my first time, I'm not sure if I can fully validate this, but it's worth a question. Nonetheless, I can't complain about the food. Just simply a curiosity on my end.

When the community migrated to Nagpur in 1877, their food followed -- spreading through the tradesfolk and mill workers who embraced its bold flavors. Today, Saoji is considered the signature cuisine of Nagpur: intensely spiced, unapologetically hot, and built around powerful, roasted masalas. Tonight we ate at Nagpuri Saoji in Voorhees (they also have a location in Iselin), and these two spots are reportedly the only places in the U.S. where you can experience this cuisine in its full, blazing glory. To Start We began with sabudana vada -- the classic Maharashtrian fritter made from tapioca pearls, mashed potatoes, peanuts, and spices. Served piping hot and impossibly crisp outside with a tender interior, they came with two chutneys and were absolutely sublime. Alongside that was goat sukka, a dry-style mutton preparation associated with the Mangalore and Udupi regions, with spice influences tracing back to Goa and even Arab and Turkish traders. Coriander, fennel, cumin, black peppercorns, and fenugreek give it depth and warmth. It was bold, savory, and incredibly flavorful. The Curries I ordered chicken kala masala curry, and it was deeply earthy, nutty, and robustly savory. "Kala" means "black" in Marathi -- referring both to the color and to the roasted spice blend itself. Cumin, coriander, cloves, cinnamon, stone flower, coconut, sesame seeds, and chillies are roasted and ground into a dark, complex masala that lingers beautifully on the palate. We also ordered Goat Handi, with tender meat in a velvety, aromatic gravy, and a Malwani goat curry, made with Malvani masala from the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra -- a spice blend that balances heat with coastal warmth and depth. Rice, plain naan, and indulgent Amul cheese naan rounded out the meal. Dessert We finished with Sitafal Rasmalai (custard apple-infused rasmalai) and Jamun Rabdi -- both creamy, fragrant, and perfect against the lingering spice. A Few Notes Like much traditional Asian cooking, the meat dishes are cooked on the bone -- so eat mindfully. And if you request "hot," they mean hot. This is not toned-down spice; this is the real deal. I was thrilled to try dishes from India that I've never made before. Saoji cuisine is bold, unapologetic, and absolutely delicious -- and I'll definitely be adding some of these flavors to my home repertoire. If you have the opportunity to try this cuisine -- do it.

The tarri tasted weird so it ruined the entire dish. Same tarri was present in the misaal too, so this dish was ruined too. Sol kadhi was average. The service was fast and the ambience is okay-ish.
