My office placed an online order for 25 people for pickup on 2/13/2026 at 12:00pm. Not only was the order confirmed four separate times--once on the original date, once on Saturday, once on Tuesday, and again the morning of pickup--but the payment was processed and I received both a confirmation email and an order number. There was absolutely no reason this order should not have been prepared on time. When we arrived, we were questioned about why we "hadn't called," despite the fact that we had called four different times and had been reassured each time that everything was confirmed. To make matters worse, none of the 25 meals were even being prepared ahead of time. There was zero acknowledgment of the inconvenience, no apology, and no sense of urgency or professionalism from the manager. This experience showed a complete lack of organization and consideration for our time. Seriously the best Peruvian Chicken (Pollo a la brasa) in the area!! All of their locations have always been a hit. I've never had a bad meal there! I do have to say though, stick to the chicken as they have lots of other things there too (like steak, salmon and even sandwiches) but they are known for their chicken. It's brined overnight and so so flavorful. I always think chicken breast is dry but not at Sardis. I also love all of their sides and their fried rice is even better than Chinese restaurants fried rice :) I can always count on Sardis for a complete healthy meal with great vegetables as sides! read more

tldr all things considered 5/5. only real complaint is price and the amount of sides that come with the $17 1/2 chicken lunch combo but I won't hold that against them here. First time having peruvian so I came in cautious but optimistic. I got a half chicken which was a good amount for me , arroz chaufa which was a little, and the plantain which was a good sized serving. Everything tasted great and the arroz chaufa was fiya. wish the combo came with more. The customer service was like this -.- but I didn't think they were rude. I got the feeling that some of their customers are hard on them so the staff was a little down on pep yknow. No issue there for me though. they were respectful, clean, and nobody threatened to beat me up so that's all good. The price however is crazzzzzzy I don't imagine myself coming back here but if I had $20 to spend on a quick lunch and wanted some roast chicken that was seasoned excellently I would for sure return. One would think the sauces are theirs personally! 2 sauces for 1/2 chicken is a joke! I would say to all customers to order the 1/4 chicken to be able to have enough sauce. The nonchalant dismissive attitude of the cashier makes me not want to come back to this location! I still get the feeling that if I spoke Spanish, I would be treated nicer and receive more friendly service than today. If Sardi's was a restaurant in the movie Grease, they'd be Sandy's, but they aren't, so they're not. If you haven't had Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken and its infamous green sauce on the side, you have missed a very exciting train ride. But it's never too late to get on. And Sardi's is the ideal stop for boarding. If Sardi's served canned fish, they'd be Sardine's, but they don't, so they're not. There are very few things that constitute "typical DC/DMV/NOVA cuisine", as it's all over the place and not always the best area to get food, but one thing that does stand out from living in and visiting this region is the Peruvian Chicken. Other than El Pollo Riko (Northern Blvd Queens NYC) I've probably never had better PC than in the DC area, and if you think there are better places, then Peruve it. If Sardi's served up tales of explicit sexual encounters, they'd be Sordid's, but they don't, so they're not. After lifting, I recently hit up 3 more DC chicken shops. This was the very best chicken that I tried, the freshest, the most succulent and juicy and delicious, and they gave me extra and were very friendly - they had good creamy sauce too. Sardi seems to be the hardest word, and it's hard to say I'm Sardi. Is it too late now to say Sardi? Well, if so, Sardi - not Sardi. This chain is always very good and sometimes it's great - and in this case it was absolutely fantastic. When they do it well they really really do it well. If Sardi's used a lot of vinegar on their chicken, they'd be Sourdi's, but they don't, so they're not. I have a long history of loving this place. From many of their locations. A couple of the locations I've been to didn't do it quite as well, but this one absolutely does - they nail it and it's wonderful. If Sardi's had a location in Riyadh, Mecca or Medina, they'd be Saudi's, but they don't, so they're not. So I have nothing but great things to say about this excellent chicken shop, and a lovely service to go with their wonderful products at extremely competitive prices - in fact it's probably cheaper than a lot of the competitors, who aren't even as good or as well-known or as generous with their portions - and sauces for that matter. And speaking of sauce, they have a whole array of great sauces here so you should try them all. And speaking of sauce, are you free later? And anyway - Bieber was on tour and called (he's always calling, it's annoying, dude, don't you realize that nobody calls anymore, get with the txt program broseph) me up to ask me who has the best Peruvian Chicken in DC. At first I couldn't remember the name so I left him high and proverbially dry, which is his usual state of being anyway tbh tbf. Hours later, around 10pm, I figured out the place was called Sardi's, so I called Biebz back, and I said: "Is it too late for me to say Sardi's? 'Cause they have more than just good chicken (da da da da da da da da) Is it too late for me to say Sardi's? Yeah I know that they must be closing down, but is it too late to say Sardi's now?" I've heard such good things about Sardi's, but I'm unimpressed. The chicken is probably three stars, but the sides are definitely two. El Pollo Rico really offers the best pollo a la brasa, followed by Super Pollo. Prices are reasonable. If you must go to this location, it's perfectly fine during the day, though a friend warned me about going alone in the evening. I forgot to specify dark meat, so I got white meat chicken, so clearly it was dry, though flavorful. I got the yucca and white rice and beans for sides, and those had no flavor. They were super bland. All the sauces have egg in them, so I can't eat them, and I ended up using the picante salsa to flavor my food. Sardi's really isn't worth going out of the way for (which I didn't--I had business in the area), but I guess if you live nearby and are just going for the chicken, it's fine. read more

So, I have a list of reviews created in September, I need to write by following my 100 reviews or less spolicy. The Sardi's happens to coincide with a 2019 visit just this past Friday. I wanted to get through at least some of my list before getting to 2019 & late 2018 restaurants. I had been to this location on a few occasions. Sardi's is one of the best when it comes to Peruvian chicken. The chicken is tender, and the dipping sauces are great too. The sides are all good as well. Most of the time you go to a Peruvian chicken place, and one of the sides isn't very good and/or the chicken, but here at Sardi's everything is great! On one visit on a 90F day on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, I visited. I was in the office that day in Columbia and on the way to a movie date in DC, I decided to stop at Sardi's. This visit was a bit negative because it was hot in there. The a/c wasn't working, which wasn't cool (literally). There were a few flies. The chicken, Yuca, & plantains were excellent though. However, the Friday, January 11, 2019 visit was all positive. I had started on diet last Monday, January 7. It's a biggest loser competition at work. Before the weigh-in on 1/7, I had a 4-day eating purge to bulk up. I had Chick Fil-A including milkshake, Z Burger with milkshake, not a 2-piece, but 3-PIECE fried chicken at Roy Rogers of Germantown (the same center as the Johnny Kabob I just wrote a review on), a copious amount of Ledo Pizza, as well as several other things...every day was 3000+ calories. But now, I'm trying to keep around 1500. No bread, less carbs in general, and healthier foods. Peruvian chicken is pretty good, but it's the sides that make it unhealthy. On Friday's visit, for my sides, I got green beans & black beans. I learned black beans are healthier than Pinto, but I would probably get black beans anyway. I asked for more beans & less juice since I was VERY hungry as I only had like 600 calories that day. She gave me a larger container, and there were a generous amount of beans. The green beans were surprisingly good. My white meat chicken was good was always. I used the yummy dipping sauce sparingly; some bites just plain. I happened to have gained 0.4 lbs from Friday to Saturday morning, but that was because of the celebration I went to; I had cake, champagne, & cider that night. But overall, I've definitely been on a downward trend on weight. read more

I was in the area running some errands, and after things didn't go my way, I decided to treat myself to some Sardi's. Now, the last time I went to Sardi's, it was my first time, and little did I know that when you go to Sardi's, you're supposed to order their famous charbroiled chicken. (I know that now.) So, I decided to give Sardi's another shot. If you've never been to Sardi's, it's kind of like a Peruvian Boston Market (fast casual). The chicken theme also lends itself to comparisons with Nando's. I ordered the 1/4 chicken (dark meat) meal, which comes with two sides. Sardi's has more variety of sides to choose from than Nando's. I chose the fried yucca and sautéed spinach. They also have other mixed veggies, french fries, rice, potatoes, mashed potatoes, etc. No short supply of starches here! I thought that the servings of the sides were generous. Service was efficient. The meal cost just under $10. What makes Sardi's special is their homemade sauces, which are basically different aoilis. This Sardi's has a "limited sauce" rule - I could only get three sauces for my 1/4 chicken meal. They have a sign posted by the register which lists the number of sauces you're allowed to get based on which entree you order. I chose the blanco (white sauce), amarillo (yellow), and verde (green). The white sauce was the plainest (naturally). The yellow had more flavor and spices. Green had cilantro and was spicy. They also have a red sauce (which I assumed was the spiciest, but the container also has a picture of a red bell pepper, so now I'm not so sure...). I dined in and they have ketchup bottles on every table - great for your sides, particularly the fries. They also have free WiFi. In terms of the food, the chicken is cooked better at Sardi's - moist and juicy - but I still prefer the flavors of Nando's. The outside seasoning was definitely salty. The homemade sauces were good, not great. If I had to choose between reaching for a container of Sardi's sauce or a bottle of Nando's sauce, I'd go for the Nando's. The sautéed spinach was nothing special. I mixed in the sauces and had a creamed spinach situation going on, which made it better, but I wouldn't choose the spinach again. I liked the fried yucca since I don't get it often. I don't see myself frequenting Sardi's, but it was good overall. read more

Decided to try something new, so I ordered from this place on DoorDash -- sight unseen. As Peruvian chicken places go, I thought it was pretty good overall. Not quite 5 stars, but definitely a solid contender in this crowded space. I ordered the half chicken dark (so two leg-and-thigh pieces) with two sides. The chicken was on the small side, but it was moist and flavorful. In that way, I found it superior to competing places like Crisp and Juicy -- which tends to be drier. The chicken came with three choices of sauce. I didn't know which one to get so I just chose the green, red, and yellow ones. All of the sauces have soybean oil as their first ingredient though, and they all seemed to be glorified, colored versions of mayonnaise. I was not impressed with the sauces at all! For my two sides, I chose the roasted red potatoes (which were DEEEELISH) and the crispy Brussel sprouts. As an initial matter, I was just so impressed that a place like this even offered Brussel sprouts as a side! And the dish was almost perfect. Emphasis on almost! But they would've been so much better if they hadn't been doused in so much oil. Perhaps because of the heat and the transit time in the takeout box, the Brussel sprout and roasted carrot mix arrived too soggy to truly be enjoyed. But maybe I wouldn't have had that problem if I'd been eating inside the restaurant and could've enjoyed my food hot off the grill. Even with this little snafu, I still think the sides here are better that the ones at District Rico on H Street, which gives you huge portions but in the end the sides aren't all that great. Sauces and soggy Brussel sprouts aside, I was still pleased with my meal overall. I wouldn't rush back to Sardi's any time soon. But I would be a future customer at some point again. read more

In my opinion, Sardi's serves the most delicious pollo a la brasa in the DC area, and this location lives up to this expectation. The portions are big and the food is really VERY delicious. Aside from the amazing chicken, what I love about this place is the large number of side options to choose from, including mouth-watering plantains and several tasty vegetable sides, such as grilled brussels spouts, cabbage, and spinach. However, I do wish that the regular entree (I normally get the 1/2 chicken) came with more than two sides (currently only two sides are included in the price, though you can pay extra for more). The ambiance is casual; the space is clean, though indoor seating is very limited at the moment, because of covid. There is no outdoor seating. I've come to this location many times and have never noticed long lines or missing sides. The service has always been good, though not particularly friendly (but I don't mind--I come here for the food and get take-out anyways). Overall, I would definitely recommend this place if you want delicious food and don't mind the casual setting. read more

When I used to live closer to Sardi's, this place was my everything. I could eat it almost everyday! I'm not as close anymore but it will always have a special place in my heart. From the chicken, fish and shrimp dishes to the amazing sides. You can't go wrong at Sardi's. They have some pork dishes as well but I don't eat pork. However, there's something here for everyone. Even if you want to go vegan/vegetarian. The veggies, rice, potatoes, and plantain sides alone could be a meal as the portions are nice and hefty (which I love). It is alright that they don't speak English every well, but when they do not understand their customers due to that, they get frustrated and talk shit about their customers. Even though I live in NY, I LOVE this Sardi's!... Thank God for my family that lives in this area... I get to visit 1x or 2x a year..and enjoy this to the fullest.... and when they come to NY....they're gracious enough to bring me one whole chicken... (FYI - they freeze and reheat perfectly in the oven). Being a Caribbean woman, we need to have our meat well seasoned....and Sardi's does such a great job.. Always moist and flavourful!... I've had their Lomo Saltado on one occasion.. (be prepared to wait...as it's made fresh)... very tender steak... Although I always say that I'm going to try something else on the menu... I ordered the enchiladas. My husband ordered in-restaurant. He was told that my plate would take 10 mins which is GREAT because that means it was made fresh and not frozen or premade. The order had three enchiladas and was a GREAT portion. I couldn't eat all in one session. The enchilada is filled with huge chicken chunks, their house made sauce and cheese. It comes with one side and I got the kale with mushrooms. I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms so this was perfect because it was only a few mushrooms. The only thing I was left wanting was more of the green sauce. If I had known, I would have asked for a small cup to use for dipping. I love this place and always try to get a new dish each time. This Sardis was pretty okay in my opinion. The space is very good and I feel like it's not too cluttered as to other locations i have been to. What I did not like, was that we were not asked whether we wanted a bag or not. Not everyone likes to be charged a fee for a bag. Since I brought my own bag and handed it to the person bagging my food. I received the meanest look just because I choose not to be charged. It may be something small, but other places ask whether the customer wants a bag or not. Another problem is the attitude the workers give when ordering food. While ordering they look like they're dragging themselves and so irritated with customers. Please be in a happier mood. But I dont eat chicken so I didn't dive in. A couple weeks later, on a hectic weekday after work, I stopped in to try the grilled salmon and veggies. To my pleasant surprise my meal was great! I immediately became addicted. The service is fast, the food is well-seasoned, and they are reasonably priced. The seafood options are pricey but that's normal. On a positive note, the portions are large. I definitely recommend the grilled shrimp; you get 10 perfectly grilled large, tender shrimp, rice, and two sides for $14.99.
