Seen the place a ton of times and decided to stop by on a whim. It's in Beltway Plaza next to the pho spot. You can access it either from inside the mall or from the parking lot outside. They offer Peruvian staples and much more. You've got the charbroiled chicken, but there's also some saltados, tacos, burritos, wings, gyros, and more. Now, usually I'd get a Peruvian staple, assuming that's what they're known for. But I had a taste for some other random things. I decided to get their lamb gyro and 24 karat wings. It was around lunch time so it wasn't empty in there, but it wasn't crowded. It was obvious some of the folks were regulars... everyone was nice. My order was taken and I got it within 10 minutes or so. When I got home the first thing I had was the gyro, which wasn't bad! The lamb was flavored a bit differently than I'm used to, but the texture and everything else was good. With the name, I was expecting the wings to be... golden, and they weren't at all. The flavor was good, but I was definitely expecting a different aesthetic. Wings are made well. I'd go back to try the Peruvian staples, hope they are good! read more

I always pass by this place, when I'm in the area, but never go in. I decided to change that. So, I ordered my favorite: wings. The wait wasn't long, the staff was nice, and the place had vibrant, inviting colors that represented their culture. Lastly, the wings were steaming hot & good. Going 2 zip codes south of my home to Greenbelt 20770, I come to DC Charbroiled Chicken on Sunday, May 18. My girlfriend & I were on a Greenbelt Meetup walk and was done earlier than we anticipated. We switched our plans around to go to an earlier movie at AMC Academy here in Beltway Plaza Mall where DC Charbroiled Chicken is. For lunch, we decided to drive straight to the mall and wing it. We walked through considering our options almost going to a Mexican place in the mall, but there was no one at the front to take our order, so DC Charbroiled was the winner (sort of...as it was 3-stars). I got a 1/4 chicken white, and my girlfriend got wings. I was getting charged extra for plantains, which I wasn't set on. I asked about the price discrepancy, which she said was the plantains. I said I didn't see that on the menu, which I had the foldable paper menu I was looking at. When you look at the menu posted, which is high up, it says plantains are 99 cents extra. But when you go around the corner to select the sides, there's no warning. I don't care much about the plantains and told them to replace with something else. I think in the end I got beans & side salad maybe. I don't like when Peruvian chicken places or others charge extra for plantains and/or certain sides. Sometimes I've paid the extra depending on my mood & what I want. Today, I wasn't dead set and didn't like being blindsided. Also, there was a language barrier as the cashier didn't know what I was saying and ultimately had to get someone else; so that was annoying too! I got my chicken with a short wait, nothing unreasonable but a bit of a wait. As for my girlfriend's wings, they took a good 15 minutes LONGER than my food. I didn't want my food to get cold, so I chowed down. I shared a bit of mine with my g/f too. She shared some wings with me too. Wings were pretty weak overall. My 1/4 chicken was good, but nothing to write home about, and sides were fine. Also, why the heck is it called DC Charbroiled Chicken?!...they aren't in DC and don't have a location in DC, why would they promote DC?! They could be PG Charbroiled Chicken as they have 6 locations in PG County or MD Charbroiled with the Virginia locations being VA Charbroiled. read more

I went to this Peruvian place in Beltway Plaza mall regularly after getting hungry from working out at the Planet Fitness nearby years ago. They had some of the best wood-fired chicken, arroz chaufa and pinto beans, burrito/salad bowls, lomo saltado, etc. All the sides and condiments were great, too. Never had a bad experience, and I wish this chain (or Sardi's) would expand out of the DC area into PA and other states. read more

This peruvian chicken spot wasn't that good and the chicken was a bit dry, I'm not sure if I gotten a piece that was just a little bit over cooked. The sides were salty for those who like salt, but overall it is edible. I wouldn't recommend this place unless they change somethings up. Let me tell y'all about my favorite lunch spot. I work around the corner, and everyone gets tired of the mundane fast food. Think fresher, more flavorful Chipotle and for about the same price. I normally get the chicken bowl and prefer it to the shrimp bowl I had today (only because you get 5 shrimp, and I'm greedy). The service is so nice. They are polite and will let you sample things if it's your first time. I always get the bowl but I've heard great things about the half chicken, carne asada, and yucca. My bowl always has the rice, black beans, pico, mozz, and green spicy sauce. The green beans are a must! So good. Honestly best green beans I've ever had. I had the ceviche and my husband had the Pollo Saltado served on papas fritas with a scoop of rice. We also enjoyed an Inca cola. The green sauce is delicious on the chicken with just enough spice. I love the smell of this place and it serves up some seriously delicious charbroiled chicken. I've been here twice already and the food has been consistent in good flavor and the service had been great! There are so many sides to choose from and the ones I've had so far have been fresh. There are also dessert options and bottles beverages to choose from if interested. This place is conveniently located at the Greenbelt plaza mall and can be accessed within or outside of the mall. I have to say I enjoyed the flavor and taste today. I've tried several Peruvian Chicken joints all the way from Langley Park, Beltsville, Greenbelt(295) and Laurel areas.(even Sardi's). I love the food here, but when placing an order online they didn't even make the food. They were arguing with my husband that he had to pay again even though we had already paid and even gave a 20% tip. We showed them the email receipt and everything. What is even the point of having an online ordering system if they do not fulfill the orders and don't believe the customer when they said (and proved) they already paid. So I like everything I've had here! I've had the chicken with rice and string beans as well as the shrimp nachos. The food is fresh and delicious. My coworkers had the quesadillas and loved them too. I've sat in and ate as well as called in my order for pick up both were quick service and they allow you to add toppings and extra guac and sour cream. Hidden down one of the hallways of the Greenbelt Plaza or gaining access from the outside, you might be more likely to stumble past this review than this location. However, once inside this simple set-up and high quality food won't disappoint. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and will be back to try some others out later. I would like to give zero star here but the option is not available. I was misled into the restaurant by an advertisement in the Greenbelt mall, which said "quarter chicken meal with 2 sides for 6.99". It seemed a good deal, until checkout, where they charged me 9.48 without tax. The food is just fine as the quarter chicken was almost burnt on the skin without much warmth. The string beans was under-cooked. I believe Peruvian grilled chicken is a nice cuisine, and I would definitely like to try it anywhere else without misleading ads in the future. read more

I stopped in for the 1st time and me and my dining partner both got the quarter dark chicken, we both got mixed vegetables, i got plantains which i had never tried before and she got fries. The chicken was very good and I enjoyed my sides. The fries were not a good choice. Staff was very friendly and helpful, overall a very good meal for the price.
