Half Chicken (Dark), Cheesy Potatoes and Cheesy Spinach

Always perfect. Half Chicken (Dark), Cheesy Potatoes and Cheesy Spinach. Highly recommend.

I was let down for the first time in this place after eating from here 3-4 times. The rice was under cooked and that's an understatement. But into the rice and thought I was eating pieces of bon

Let me tell y'all about my favorite lunch spot. I work around the corner, and everyone gets tired of the mundane fast food. Think fresher, more flavorful Chipotle and for about the same price. I normally get the chicken bowl and prefer it to the shrimp bowl I had today (only because you get 5 shrimp, and I'm greedy). The service is so nice. They are polite and will let you sample things if it's your first time. I always get the bowl but I've heard great things about the half chicken, carne asada, and yucca. My bowl always has the rice, black beans, pico, mozz, and green spicy sauce. The green beans are a must! So good. Honestly best green beans I've ever had. If you're in Greenbelt, you have to try it.

Now I know why people take a sample of their food in the car. That's so that if it doesn't taste like anything they can go back inside and voice their concern. Well, trying to be dignified, I got all the way home and was saddened that this food had little to no taste. No smokiness from the chicken being roasted, barely any cilantro essence to the rice and my plantains only were salvageable after I picked through the charred ones. Something told me to keep going but I opted to give this place a try. Well, they blew it and won't patronize again. Located in the Greenbelt Plaza they offer the standard fare other "Peruvian" style chicken eateries have but they miss the mark. Plenty of seating if you choose to stay, nice staff working there. Parking is dynamic in this busy location so don't have your heart set on parking near the door.

We were passing through and saw the sign in the parking lot. We like Peruvian food and thought we would try it. I had the ceviche and my husband had the Pollo Saltado served on papas fritas with a scoop of rice. We also enjoyed an Inca cola. The green sauce is delicious on the chicken with just enough spice. The ceviche was delicious with lots of red onion served on lettuce the portions were very big. If you live in this area this is a must stop.

I love the smell of this place and it serves up some seriously delicious charbroiled chicken. I've been here twice already and the food has been consistent in good flavor and the service had been great! There are so many sides to choose from and the ones I've had so far have been fresh. There are also dessert options and bottles beverages to choose from if interested. This place is conveniently located at the Greenbelt plaza mall and can be accessed within or outside of the mall. I will definitely come back.

**update* visited again on 10/14/17 and ordered 1/4 white chicken with two sides (green beans and potatoes.) Everything tasted better than my first visit. The sauce, chicken and sides were good. The green beans were undercooked for my liking but weren't bad. The potatoes and chicken were delicious. I asked for extra sauce and they didn't charge like most places. *** Greenbelt has been in need of a Peruvian chicken joint since Pollo Rico closed a few years ago. I want to give this place a rating of 3.5.... I ordered 1/4 of a chicken with 2 sides. The chicken was alright. It was somewhat dry and tasted like it was older chicken that was reheated. Green bean sides didn't have any salt... very plain. Had I known that it was going to taste like rubber I would have ordered something else as a side. The mixed veggies were better. The sauces were good. The medium sauce tasted too mustard-y but the spicy one was better. All in all not amazing but the food was decent... I will return for another taste. They also have ceviche which I will return for. The people behind the counters were nice.

I have to say I enjoyed the flavor and taste today. I've tried several Peruvian Chicken joints all the way from Langley Park, Beltsville, Greenbelt(295) and Laurel areas.(even Sardi's). I thought the flavor and saltiness was just good for my taste. Enjoyed this with plain rice. A destination place for me after walking around Beltway Plaza Mall on Greenbelt Rd. Everyone have different taste...it's worth a try.

Hands down, one of the best Peruvian chicken restaurants in the DMV. Their tilapia is delicious also! :)

I wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy. First off they have no prices posted, secondly they only have about 8 items that they sell. I don't understand how they could mess up tacos to the extent that they did... I ordered 4 tacos (2 chicken and 2 steak). The tacos were $5.00 a piece and the quesadilla was $13 I believe. This was the worse $34.00 I've ever spent. The steak tacos were so small and they were dry but, they did have a little flavor to them. The chicken tacos were like dry shredded rubber--horrible. I couldn't even finish them, even after drenching them in all the sauce I had. The lime was so hard I had to fight to get juice out of it and when I did get juice to come out it was bitter--yuck! They doubled up on the wraps like most places do, but it was useless since the tacos were dried out. The cilantro and onions tasted fresh but that's about it. I removed the extra wraps and they were clean and looked unused. I thought the reason for the double wraps were to help support the first wrap so the taco doesn't come apart..... The wraps weren't even warmed together, they were literally separate--ugh.. The quesadilla was huge until my son opened it and looked inside. There wasn't much filling at all.The wrap was big and soggy--matter of fact I think it was a burrito instead of a quesadilla. It didn't look like it was heated nor was it cut. Everything is wrong at this place, I would avoid at all cost. This has to be the worst taco spot in Maryland.. I am very disappointed in this place, it was the worse experience ever. I've attached the pictures of all the bs they sold me. I

El Taco Rico has some tables outside of the small restaurant, and there are a few inside. When you walk in, tables are to the left, and the register is to your right. They have a plastic screen up, and you can see their small menu... there are no physical ones, and I had to ask what their taco types were. From anyone just passing by, the place honestly doesn't look like much, and everything looks kind of old. I opted for 3 chicken tacos... which came to $12, I was surprised they were $4 each! Around my way I usualy expect things like tacos to be way cheaper lol. So I was a tad concerned... I went to sit down outside, and when the plate was brought to me (I chose dine-in) my jaw almost dropped when I looked at my plate. The tacos were bigger than I expected and they were loaded with chicken! They brought out 3 bottles of sauce and veggies to put on the tacos too! Presentation and size immediately took my concerns away. When I took a bite... yes. The pulled chicken was tender and I was STUFFED after I finished all 3.

We shared the corn, which was perfectly sweet and tangy, ordered three lemonades, and tried a handful of tacos. The taco de lengua was tender and moist without being fatty, the barbacoa was savory with just the right hint of sweetness, and the carne asada was hearty, meaty, and full of flavor. We wrapped things up with a flan that was creamy and custardy--exactly how it should be. The packed parking lot says it all about this place's popularity. Don't miss out.

There are definitely a variety of taco choices. I haven't been unsatisfied yet. There is a small eating area inside away from the bottleneck area where people order and pick up their food but I don't think I'd ever want to eat inside since it's way too busy and the ambiance would be too hectic for me to deal with. There are other choices of sides or extras like maíz loco (corn on the cob with a variety of toppings like mayo, catsup, crumbled cheese, tajín...your choices), dried pork rinds, chicharrón (chewier and crispy version of the pork rinds), atole (hot, masa-based beverage made from corn dough, water or milk, sweetened with sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla). There are quick desserts to go too. I would highly recommend ordering ahead so you can get in and out or figuring out the less congested times. I've come during the dinner rush hours time but hadn't been planning on getting it ahead of time. I definitely recommend this place and will continue to come back.
