Other than the ugly color, the gym is same as it was before. A good amount of nautilus equipment and cardio for a decent workout. Hopefully the audio equipment for the machines will be replaced. They used to have a distorted sound and you had to plug in your headphones just right. I have not listened to them since re-joining, but it's the same old stuff there. Upon entering, we were incredibly impressed with how clean and modern the facility looked. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. We were early, so we were able to wait in the lobby, which was very well appointed. When we made our way to the room where our party was being held, we were promptly greeted by the party host. Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name, but she was the lovely young lady who I overheard her saying, has graduated in the last year or so. She was awesome! She was super helpful to us, and very good with the kids. My husband and I live about an hour away, so this is not somewhere that we would be able to visit routinely, but I can assure you that, if we lived in the area, we would absolutely look at memberships because we were so impressed with the facility and all of the great program they seem to have For families, and young adults. ( the following is a reply to the reply from one life) Hi Kelly, I think it might be wise to get some facts straight before you reply. Your regional manager never "explained" anything. After looking through the internal notes of the account, the general manager thought I should be refunded. But he could not authorize such a large refund and had to kick it up the chain to the regional manager. After many attempts, the regional manager essentially ignored the flagged requests from the general manager. So please, do your due diligence and look through the internal notes on the account. I don't judge a company by the mistakes they make, but how they fix them.

They also seemed responsive to their member surveys and it seemed like my suggestions for improvement were actually taken into account based on the changes I observed. I typically went during the mornings and found that I rarely had to wait for equipment, which is always a plus. Better experience here than most gyms I have been to.

Many variations of "pride gets in the way of progress" and "it never gets easy" seemed to be a common response. I love that! In April 2011 I decided to make a change…read more Why I did this - - A trip to my doctor brought news of high blood pressure (borderline medication); high cholesterol (the bad kind); over a healthy weight (minimum 10 lb. loss required); and an inflamed liver... - I was losing my natural ability to multi-task and remain focused while still achieving my desired results across the multiple projects I was working on - It was becoming increasingly difficult to get up and get my day started as my nights were restless and sleep was limited What I did - - Worked out twice a week with Grant Hill of MyBootcamp with less focus on cardio and more attention to sculpting the entire body with tools such as TRX Suspension Training and Rip Trainer, a fire hose, sledge hammer, and a 60 lb. tire - After the first month I added in a weekly spinning class and either pilates or yoga to keep my body challenged - Read books like Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson and Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes re-educating myself and challenging what conventional wisdom tells us about what we should eat - Treats are certainly allowed but for the most part I eliminated grains -- wheat, oats, barley, rice, corn, flax, etc. -- and avoided processed foods, anything with sugar What I didn't do - - Give up my wine -- this wasn't a suicide mission - Count calories -- I ate every time I was hungry - Excessive cardio -- focus was on strength training with occasional bursts of cardio - Avoid egg yolks and red meat as you are usually advised when watching cholesterol -- I ate more that I did previously What did I get after three months? - Dropped 20 lbs. - Lower blood pressure eliminating the need for medication - Lower bad cholesterol, back in the safe zone ...and my liver returned to normal. That was over a year ago and I'm still 20 lbs lighter than when I started - AND my last physical has me still in great health! Working with Grant was a life changing experience for me. His kind nature and genuine care for his clients is evident in how he advises and trains each individual. It wasn't just me! I first met Grant at his indoor cycling classes at Revolve, and his rides were and always are mentally and physically tough. I had started to build up my endurance and strength through cycling, but the thought of trying out MyBootcamp was still intimidating. I mean, c'mon - I saw pictures of MyBootcampers pulling tires, slamming firehoses, and tossing sandbags. I thought I wouldn't survive my first session last March, but afterward I actually felt like a complete badass. I whipped that firehose and learned how to properly do kettlebell swings, among other things. Plus I was the only girl there (thanks Matteo, Rob, and Neal for letting me kick your butts that day :). (Side note: most sessions are filled with fit, athletic and attractive ladies, so all the single men in DC should definitely sign up... just sayin' ;) ) Four months later and I'm incredibly proud of how strong I've become because of MyBootcamp. Grant and Chris have taught me how to really push myself mentally and physically. They know exactly when and how to push me to get past my comfort zone, and because of that, my endurance/strength/mobility levels are at the highest they've ever been. Now I'm addicted to improving those levels with each workout, and my two favorite "Grant-isms" that stick with me every time are 1) There is never perfection, only progress; and 2) Being strong is only good if it's actually useful. Most studios charge by class, but A Pole New You has a monthly membership fee. So I can go to as many classes as I want!! The studio is awesome. It is very clean, feminine, and even smells good. The instructors are very knowledgible and friendly. The class sizes are small, so you really get to know each other and feel comfortable working out. I am sad that I moved away from the area, but when I visit I will try to stop by and take flutter-ins!

Jan and her cadre of instructors will always ensure that you have a great and safe workout. I can always count on Jan to help roll out the kinks on my back and feet in her Restore class. Lee Anne also gives the best classical Pilates workout. The staff is great, the classes are and skills are age appropriate, so my youngest has lots of fun and encouragement while my oldest daughter gets a stricter, more structured class with tons of great feedback on how to improve. She just got her purple belt and keeps saying she wants to be one of their instructors when she gets her black belt. When our younger daughter decided to stop going, there wasn't any problems, billing immediately ended. No-one pressured us to stay, they just asked a few questions about why she was stopping. They wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem with the class or instructors. There wasn't, she just wanted to go back to doing dance, and we couldn't juggle the schedule for both. They're always doing fun events for the kids, special classes around Halloween, 'Bring A Friend' classes, Ninja Nerf, Mr. Daniels Birthday Party........ My wife and I even tried their adult fitness classes for a while too, they were FANTASTIC! I wish I could have found a way to keep going, but with my work schedule it just didn't fit. I only ever got to 1 class a week. Can't recommend Kicks Karate enough! Their true colors show when you don't want to stay!
