    Varney Agency

Tim Varney, the President of Varney Agency, should be ashamed of what's going on and fix it !!!!!!…read more I think certain agents have very poor attitudes towards people who are only insuring older late model vehicles and not large Corporationsor Big Businesses or a customer paying large insurance premiums. They act like your questions and concerns aren't important, and they act like you're bothering them and wasting their their time. They talk over you and don't answer your questions and say stuff like well your lucky your rate only went up that much as others had double and triple your rate increases."" They don't want to hear about the fact you haven't had any accidents or traffic Violations in 30 plus years and say that's not important any more when it comes to insurace, and if you don't like the rates, find another agency. Trying to get answers to your your questions and concerns is getting more and more difficult, and I feel customer service is less important and dwindling each day and very poor. Seems they rather you file complaints with the Better Business Bureau and other State and Federal Agencies, then be Customer Service Friendly and Answer Your Questions and Properly Assist You. I feel it's a double standard as Im betting this is not how they treat big corporations and businesses or customers paying big insurance premiums. It's sad that a Maine Company that is where it is today from the people of Maine, but now you're no longer an individual but just a policy number and phone number. I think Tim Varney, as president of this company, should be ashamed of how this is happening and correct it, but if it's anything like how certain agents are allowed to treat customers then nothing will get fixed and nothing surprises me anymore.

I was told by someone to switch to the Varney agency because I was currently using another agency…read morethat I had some issues with, my first experience inside the office at Varney agency was not great to begin with. The Admissions ladies that sit at the front were of absolutely no help, there was no one in the office that was able to help me so they made me sit at an empty desk and connected me with someone in another office, I reluctantly settled on progressive for my insurance because they don't go through nearly as many insurance companies as they should to get the best deal because I was paying around $60 previously and that was for two vehicles, the woman told me that it would be around $75 for just one vehicle. I chose to ensure the one vehicle because I didn't have a choice I needed insurance that day, I've called once or twice before today just to ask questions about my policy and they didn't send me to the same agent as the one that I enrolled in progressive with which I asked the woman when I enrolled in progressive if she was going to be the one I was going to speak with each time because at the previous agency I went through I had some issues where they passed me around and I didn't appreciate having to explain everything over again to a different person which is why I went to Varney agency to begin with. I called today to cancel my insurance because I looked online myself and got a quote for about half the price for two vehicles as Varney agency has me paying for one. I called today and let them know I wanted to cancel my insurance and the woman said "OK I'll email you a cancellation form" and basically said have a good day, she didn't seem to care why I was canceling my insurance, she didn't ask me if there was anything wrong (which any normal person would ask considering I've only had this insurance for less than a month) or if there was anything she could do to keep me as a customer and I find that really disgusting. I will not be recommending Varney agency to anyone.
