Good value, but still similar to any other teriyaki. But very reasonably priced. Of course a lot of rice.

Best fast stir fry in the area for sure! Chicken is so fresh and sauce is amazing! I usually get extra veggies added to it

Nom nom nom. Yummy teriyaki and big portions. One of the few places to get nearly-fresh 'fast' food.

Definitely a spot I was sleeping on, but not anymore…read more I'll admit, Hana Japanese Restaurant was completely off my radar for way too long, but now it's the only place I'll go for sushi. Once you find your spot, you find your spot. Fair warning: walking in for the first time, the place looks almost too small to be legit. But don't let that fool you. Most nights it picks up and you realize pretty quickly this spot is the real deal. The rolls here are just consistently good. I have yet to have a bad one, and at this point I've had enough to say that with confidence. Our table almost always orders the Diamond Roll (teriyaki steak on top, yes, really), and I have zero photos to prove it because it disappears within seconds of hitting the table. Every time. My personal go-to's are the Tomo and the 007 Roll, both of which I'll be ordering until further notice. I recently branched out and tried the Oceanside Roll, which was a really refreshing change of pace. Glad I stepped outside my comfort zone on that one. Service is solid. Nothing flashy, but they're polite, attentive, drinks stay filled, and in all my visits they've never once gotten an order wrong. Honestly, that consistency goes a long way. We also tried the crab rangoons. They're fine, decent, not mind-blowing, but the dipping sauce that comes with them is surprisingly spicy. A little unexpected, but it works in its own way. If you've been sleeping on Hana like I was, wake up.

We really enjoyed the sushi platter to go. Friendly service, food was great & ready as ordered…read more Small seating area right downtown Sun Prairie.

I've tried sushi all across the world, I've also had grocery store sushi. I would rate it slightly at or below grocery store sushi. Grocery store sushi at least has taste and flavor. I decided to come back, I hadn't had this in over a year and restaurants, and taste, can change. And somehow it was worse than a year ago! The sushi was incredibly bland. I gave it one star because the duality was good, the salmon was decent and the avocado was fresh. I would have given it two, but all they're really doing is meeting quality standards. However, the Salmon Tartare was packed with onion that it was almost the same amount as the salmon and Tobiko. The maki roll was packed with rice and cucumber rather than a balance of ingredients. I haven't tried their other foods, but I would not recommend their cold appetizers or their sushi. It's consistently not worth it and I wouldn't recommend it.

A shabby chic dining room allows for a clear view of the kitchen and the sushi prep. The menu is big! It has your standard sushi options as well as some signature rolls by Ale owner Kong Ni along with teriyaki, udon, and apps. Prices are extremely reasonable. As always, we ordered way too much. I was surprised at how large my salmon sushi piece (2.95) was for the price. While the fish was fresh and cut well and sushi rice well prepared, it was almost too large. Same goes with the Golden Ale Tuna roll. Well prepared, the individual pieces were quite large. Special shout out to the gyoza. Homemade with a flavorful pork filling, they were excellent. Our server was doing his best with waiting on tables and taking orders for carryout. He was hustling. While not the gold standard in the Madison area, you could do much worse. A solid recommendation for Ale.

A young entrepreneur taking a chance opening a restaurant in cottage Grove. Great to hear where he comes from, where he gets his tuna, etc etc. It's a family own business and everyone there chips in. Food was good. Definitely can improve to make it stella. The tuna was fresh and the proportion of fish to rice is excellent. Just a bite of rice with plenty of meat. The shrimp tempura was also fresh. The vegetables were chunky and fried just right, not over cooked. The batter for the agedashi Tofu, tempura and soft shell crab was crispy and piping hot when served. Careful with that. If the batter could be lighter and still crispy, it will be fantastic. Ask for some togarashi to go with the agedashi Tofu. It makes that dish very pleasant - soft tofu covered with crispy batter and just a touch of spice. Overall a good meal and I would recommend Yako Sushi.
