RUN AWAY! This was the most disgusting food I've ever had. If this is considered Thai, they are doing in terribly wrong. I was so hungry that I continued to eat my pad Thai and got FOOD POISONING. From the friendly greeting when we walked in, til we left, everything was great. staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My husband speaks Spanish, but I do not, so they spoke English at the table, which i thought was very polite, especially in their own country. They asked if we had any food allergies which was nice to hear. I requested my food have no peppers or onions and they were very accommodating. Again, everyone was friendly and helpful. We had tried this place on a previous trip and remembered it was good so we booked a reservation for dinner. It is a covered outdoor space just outside the main entrance to the Marriott. If you are staying at the JW Marriott you can also easily access it. The decor and ambiance is great. It was relaxing and cool. We started with the some Gai (Chicken) Satay and Nua Dad Diew. The satay comes on a skewer with a peanut sauce and cucumber relish. It was solid. I would say good but it did not stand out. The Nua was great though. It is marinated and fried beef strips with a cucumber peanut salad and a Sriacha sauce. The beef had great flavor and texture. You do not even need the sauce to enjoy it. The sauce was a nice add though. For my meal I ordered the Gaeng Phed Nua. This is a red curry beef meal. I opted for the Jasmine rice, but they also give you the option for sticky rice. The flavor was on point. It is a large portion too. You will easily be full and happy. The peppers and other vegetables add more flavor and texture too. The staff was friendly and helpful. Where do I even begin? The service is phenomenal, my respects to all of the waiters/ waitresses. They are constantly making sure you're well attended and very conscious of food allergies and are just super spot on. I wish I would've taken a picture of all of the food my family and I ordered, the presentation was gorgeous and everything is so yummy! If you stay at one of the Marriots in Cancun and can't decide on what to eat, this is the place to go, it's DELI! I did not have high expectations, however, I was impressed! The food is yummy, and very flavorful! The portions are huge, if you are not too hungry sharing would be a great idea. You get a complimentary appetizer of nuts, sauces and wonton chips, ahh they were so good, or maybe I was just too hungry. Our waitress was super sweet and provided great service. This place was pretty busy on a Thursday night (Thanksgiving day), we waited 15 minutes before we were seated, not bad. Stayed at the Marriott resort on our last of 8 nights visiting Riviera Maya. Total of 5 tables in the restaurant when we were taken to our table and the host was extremely friendly. We loved how the entire restaurant is open air but have ample clear wind shields to help limit the impact of wind gusts. A bit on the pricier side compared to thai food we have in the states but it is tasty and served/prepared by a nice group of folks. The business shares a restroom with the connected Hibachi Grill/Sushi Bar however the resort had COMPLEMENTARY sushi at the lobby bar that afternoon which I had already indulged upon while everyone else was napping through the afternoon rain shower. We ordered several apps, wine & all four of us enjoyed our entrees. Make sure to ask for the "thai chili spice caddie" if you are into heat. My favorite thing about this restaurant beyond the friendly service was Gai Satay served to the table still cooking on a mini-grill. Resort food by definition is for the most part a miss but this was a hit for our group and a great final dinner for our trip. Everything I read before we went for our meal stated they are reservation ONLY however that was just not the case on a random Tuesday in January. I'm sure it is busy on weekend and during peak season but we had no issue getting in for a nice meal. If you are staying at the resort or at a nearby property this is a great option. read more

They have the best curry (you must get it with sticky rice --the jasmine rice wasn't as great); nothing like this can be found in Toronto, you just can't beat the quality of the food. Not the loveliest plate of food to look at, but assuredly and humbly tasty. Despite the street-facing views, this open-air restaurant was dimly lit, in case you're going for the total reclusive feel. 10/10 for the service and the drinks were also delicious (highly recommend the Sasi Daiquiri). read more

Great service. Our waiter was very attentive and really helpful and sweet. The cucumber salad is flavorful and refreshing. My wife and I had the paid Tai and it was great. My son had the lamb with tikka masala sauce and it was the best I had tried...ever. Really all the food was delicious and the service was great. The only thing that wasn't perfect was that they didn't have the white wine we ordered. We wanted to try a Mexican Sauvignon blanc which they were out of. We had a casa madero Chardonnay that was even better and less expensive. They did a great job. The outdoor ambiance was great. We couldn't hope for better climate, better food or better service. Pricey and mediocre dishes Ambiance: I sat inside which has an upscale asian grass hut type feel. Nice and airy. Service: Friendly to a fault. hard to have a moment where someone doesn't ask you if you need something. Plate are whisked away even before you finish and they constantly hover around. Food: Disappointing. I tried a few items - a small ramen bowl which was over-salted to the point of inedibility. The gyozas were okay but still on the salty side. i did like the free accompanying chips and salted nuts which were uniquely flavored but not what I was coming for. Excellent cocktail selection. Our server recommended two drinks based on our preferences. The green chicken curry was amazing. It was the spiciest but it would be a 6 or 7 on the 1-10 Thai scale, just an FYI. We also had the shrimp spring rolls, the veggies were super fresh and not overpowered by cilantro. They had two dipping sauces, one savory and the other one was a sweet chili sauce. We stayed at the Marriot and tried a few of the other restaurants on site which I'll write a separate review. Just know that this is Thai twist Mexican Rivera style, so delicious yes...but authentic not to so much. Service was exceptional everywhere at this resort. Would definitely comeback to enjoy the ambience, specialty drinks and sunset this restaurant has to offer. read more

It was a pleasant dining experience after an exhausting flight. We were very hungry and settled on the Phad Thai and green curry with shrimp. The portions are well-sized given the pricing. The phad thai was more sweet but still pretty similar to what we get in the US. The green curry was spicy, which I enjoyed a lot, and even had some pineapple in it, which is different from what I've had before. The staff were courteous and kind, didn't have any issues at all. One night, when time was not on my side, I ended up eating at Sasi Thai as most of the options I had were limited due to the late hour. What I thought would be a mediocre experience was far from such a scenario. The staff was very nice. Sasi looks better at night. At night ambiance with house music. Initially they served Chips and curry nuts with sriracha sauce on the house. Then they presented a Cucumber Tamerind Appetizer on the house. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. It was good. I can die now. I've experience the most wonderful evening. Ending a long travel day I decided to try Sasi Thai for some appetizers and beer. Sitting at the beautiful bar I was greeted by Salvador. A smartly turned out waiter. "Good evening Ms. T, how was your day? What can I get for you?" The service at Sasi Thai is simply amazing and the restaurant is beautiful, just stunning. Is the food wonderful? Who cares, you will be mesmerized by an evening at this place. Okay, the food for my Yelpers. My beer was delivered immediately with some crunchy snacks. The snacks were a bit soggy but as a Floridian who lives in the swamp I'm not sure this is avoidable. I ordered the Thai appetizer sampler. I really enjoyed this. Presented in bamboo baskets with three different sauces. The spring rolls were okay, the fried dumplings were the best. The mint dipping sauce was my favorite. Can't wait to return. read more

They are to the right from the Marriott main gate when you step out, stick to right and pass the Japanese restaurant. + Good view even it's just next to the small street that leads to the resort. There are coconut dropping from treetops in the front and sometimes it rains a little which would definitely increase the value of the beer in your hand =] + Staff are friendly and all services are great. - The chicken wings (10pcs. one) we ordered came in with extra fun size, the size you'd ever have got from any restaurant in US would guaranteed themselves no higher than 2.5 star review averaged at Yelp, regardless of the pricing. - Seems to be only outside seating w/ coconut/banana leaf roof, it does not leak at all, yet just a bit humid if you come in a rainy time of a day. read more

Stayed @ J. W. Marriott. Went here on our 3rd night after a full hot & rainy day excursion. We're Asians, had high hopes & wanted to support fellow countrymen's business. Upon arrival, finding out it's only outdoor dining & after ordering 3 glasses of Thai iced tea, we should've ran for the exits (check the pictures). It looked like the tea bags ruptured & waitress thought we would not know how a Thai iced tea is supposed to be. I mean, really, at least try to strain them tea grounds! She did replace 2 out of 3 drinks but only after the complaint was made. You're probably wondering what happened to the 3rd Thai iced tea glass? Well, I didn't bother because after they fixed the 2 Thai iced tea drinks, it still tasted watered down & not even near a decent one we're used to. Then it was pretty much down hill from there. Sure, food presentation is important but great tasting food to us is everything. Nua Yang, according to my wife, had a decent size Filet Mignon but had a weak peanut sauce & was better served dipped in a red curry sauce of our other order which was Gaeng Som Goong. This order hardly had seafood in it (and yeah that white round shaped object in the center isn't onions or Quail eggs but Lychees.. Ugh!). Thirdly, my son ordered Guay Teaw. He's a big fan of Phad Se-iew but this did not impress him one bit. All in all, our dinner orders where underwhelming, generally small portioned & not true to their name.. real disappointing. Dining with similar unsatisfied patrons with dissatisfaction on their faces made us feel extra ashamed for being Asians on this damped & humid night. Whether you're here with friends or with your significant other, Sasi has a relaxing setting and excellent food. I've eaten here 4-5 times now and every time has been consistently great as far as service and food quality goes. If you're looking to stay local, this is going to be one of the best choices around. It has beautiful little huts which allow you to enjoy your meal in the open air. When it gets rainy, the huts have flaps which can come down and protect you from the moisture. The staff here are friendly, personable, and sharp. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone staying nearby, as it has superior food to many of the touristy spots in the area. read more

We just finished our meal, so my impressions will be fresh. We asked for a bottle of sparkling wine, which apparently and most kindly had to be brought from the adjoining Marriott Hotel. In the mean time we ordered Titos martinis. They were room temperature. Our crispy wonton appetizer was tough. Every meat on the shared combo satay tasted exactly alike. Our sparkling wine arrived as the appetizers came. The wine was barely chilled, but as I said, the effort was kind. The entre. shrimp pad thai, was loaded with bamboo shoots and not much noodles.
