I was skeptical at first, uncomfortable in my own skin, but I felt totally comfortable from start to finish. The hair and makeup gal Miranda was amazing. Such good conversation and made me feel so comfortable from the start. Not to mention she did an amazing job. My hair has never looked better! I was totally new to doing a boudoir shoot walking into this and didn't know what to expect at all. However, Michael sent emails leading up to the shoot, had me fill out a survey and really noticed and remembered what I'd filled in. I went into the shoot very uncomfortable with myself and my body and I didn't know what to expect. Michael not only has a great eye but has such good advice on what looks good and what doesn't, how to Pose, how to look in your face. I felt totally comfortable from start to finish. I researched a dozen photographers, got calls from several of them, and Michael stood out as someone who genuinely cared about my wishes. I was iffy at first - a MALE photographer? I decided to take the plunge after seeing his incredible portfolio, hearing his warm and professional demeanor on the phone, and reading the stellar reviews on Yelp. Trust me, as it turns out, they're all true!! Michael has been doing this for over a decade and it shows. He guides you through with such grace, experience, and knowledge that you feel totally at ease. His professional demeanor made me feel totally safe. I was anxious about how I would feel once 'on-set' given some traumatic experiences in the past, but I was shocked by how relaxed I felt once I was actually there. I arrived and Miranda put me in the chair for hair and makeup, and I had fun chatting with her and Michael while sipping a little champagne. I HIGHLY suggest the bungalow location, the greenery and immaculate Bali inspired aesthetic is incredible. Michael laid out all the outfits I brought and they offered their opinions on what would work and what wouldn't, excellent suggestions as it turned out. Miranda did a fabulous job with my makeup and hair, I've never seen myself like that before! Miranda took her leave and Michael sat me down to guide me through classic poses and tips that would ensure I looked my best. At this point I realized that I had been waiting for a rush of nervousness to hit me, but it had never happened. This speaks volumes of Michael's ability to set a tone that's all focused on "this is about you, you're here, you're ready, let's take some amazing pictures!" I ended up doing several outfits and the shoot took a little under two hours. STRETCH BEFOREHAND! Michael gave me this tip and even with my daily yoga and stretching ahead of time, I was totally exhausted from holding the poses by the end. It was lovely to end the shoot in the beautiful outdoor shower and enjoy the sunshine while Michael edited the photos. He's so fast, within an hour I was sitting down for the big reveal. My face was in a mask at this point, but if it hadn't been my jaw would've been on the floor! I wanted to get my husband a present for Xmas and initially, when I told him about this, he was like "ehh, why don't you get me a bag instead? I need a new one of those". This is because he's "taken photos" of me in the bedroom with his phone and he didn't understand why this is any different. So I finally showed him Michael's portfolio (and I got butt hurt that he wasn't excited about it), and then he's like "ok, sure, it'll be fun". Finally the day came. He went with me to the shoot because I wanted to make sure he felt comfortable. The studio was so inviting! You do the makeup downstairs while Michael plays your favorite songs to get you into a sexy mood. The makeup artist really listens to what you want so that you look like YOURSELF but better, which was very important. During the makeup, we busted open a bottle of bubbly rose to take the edge off and my husband Matt started getting more comfortable. I was concerned because I have some blemishes on my body, but Michael said it's better to take care of that in editing. I was so relieved I didn't have to put a layer of makeup on my body. Not much to describe about the actual shoot, other than Michael knows how to get the shots! He was so friendly and professional and was very instructional so that I can get into the best poses possible for the shoot. I actually wanted to do a half PG13 half R shoot because I wanted something more intimate that's just for my husband. He was able to do that so tastefully. After the shoot, we went away for an hour for drinks, then came back to review the photos. Matt loved ALL OF THEM. So we ended up getting 1 PG album, 1 R album and all the digitals he's edited. Fast forward 1 month, Matt's still bragging and showing trusted friends the photos on his phone because he loves them so much. My nature is to be behind the camera, and that's where I've been for a long time in the film industry. The result of that: not a lot of photos capturing me at my best. After years of doing the work to embrace my body and get rid of inherent shame, and lots of success in my career and big positive changes in my personal life, I wanted to create a permanent record. I really appreciated Michael's approach to booking new clients, having actual conversations, and seeking to understand where each client is in her own life and what she's trying to get out of this experience. The lead up to the shoot was very organized with lots of guidance and tips for selecting outfits. The actual shoot went very smoothly too -- my makeup was applied expertly, the music of my choice was already cued up, and the instructions for posing were super simple and effective. It was a safe space to be myself and I felt that I had a good rapport built with Michael from the work he put in throughout the process. The level of nudity and the poses themselves were always up to me, and we were consistently communicating. I think in a scenario where you are in a vulnerable state, you will get the best art when you can fully trust the person behind the camera is seeking to capture you in a way you've never seen - and that's exactly what I got. The fact Michael edits images right away and sits with you to review them immediately after is my favorite part of his process. After all that vulnerability, having any lingering doubts erased makes for a great day. My images were tasteful and beautiful and my friends were speechless. I got digital copies within a couple days and a gorgeous album within a month. I would strongly recommend Michael for your boudoir shoot, especially if you have some butterflies about the process. Mike was SO amazing! I was a little nervous about my shoot. I was nervous on what to shop for and how to pose mostly. Mike responded to emails promptly. I would send an email asking for advice on an outfit and I always got a response back near immediately. He also gave me so much reassurance while shopping - like "that would photograph so well, I am so excited for your shoot!" His confidence transferred to me so much that many of my nerves were gone by the time I showed up! Once there my nerves about posing were put to rest immediately because Mike is so professional while showing you poses and even demonstrates them himself! (Provides some comic relief :) ) Mike also showed me images throughout the shoot which made me so confident and excited to see the final images! While looking at the slide show I really got almost emotional seeing how beautiful I really am. Let me preface this review by saying I am not a photogenic person. My family and friends have always been *very* vocal about how I look better in person than in photos. You can pick me out of a lineup very easily: I'm the one in the Christmas photos with one eye closed, a crooked smile, and nose scrunched in that awkward not-cute way. In most lighting, I have a massive butt chin. More than that, I never know what to do with my hands! I hate taking pictures. But you know what I hate more than taking pictures? Realizing I don't have any pictures to look back on as I get older. I don't have photos from graduation, with significant others, lunch with the girls... I'm the one offering to take the photo rather than be in them. I made the decision to gift myself a boudoir shoot because I wanted that confidence boost. The one where I can be proud to jump in a photo instead of standing on the sidelines. What better way to get that confidence boost than to put on some lingerie and take some amazing photos? You'll even have hair and make up are done for you! I didn't make this decision lightly. I put in a lot of time and effort before deciding on Michael. If you're looking to book a shoot, here's my experience. Investment This is going to be a hefty investment. I made sure to put aside plenty of "fun money" just for this shoot and any potential upgrades. It's easy to think, "Oh I'll just get the smallest package with 10 photos." Trust me hun, that's not gonna happen. You're gonna fall in love with each and every photo Michael takes. The baby package just isn't enough! Research I probably researched 30+ boudoir photographers in the Southern California area. I checked out their websites, portfolios, instagrams, youtubes, facebooks... if they had photos somewhere online, I saw them. I even had several consultation calls and emails with other photographers before deciding on Michael. You know those cheesy graduation photos you take at the mall? Michael is the exact opposite. Michael has this way about taking photos that just can't be beat. Don't believe me? Check out his Instagram and Youtube. That's exactly what I did. He uses natural lighting in way that makes all the photos look so... sensual. No studio or ring lights here! Seriously, do yourself a favor and watch his behind-the -scenes photography tutorials on Youtube. You really get a feel for his shooting style and process. Comfort Is the idea of being in lingerie in front of a complete stranger daunting to you? It was for me. But in all honestly, after a few jokes and test shots, you're home free. Michael has a really easy going personality and goes along with your comfort level. You want to keep your top on at all times? Go for it. Wanna take it all off but keep it classy? You go girl! You don't have to worry about "picking the right thing to wear." Just bring lots of options. Michael provides you with a general idea of what to bring but it's all up to you! He'll also give lots of input the day of as to what pieces will photograph well. Not to mention the bungalow! That place is gorgeous. And completely covered so you don't have to worry about prying eyes. It's not all about the bedroom and kitchen shots --- check out that outdoor space! Not sure what to do with your hands (like me)? He'll tell you exactly what to do, where to look, when to point your toes... you'll pretty much have a cheerleader at your side every step of the way. End Game I think I almost died seeing the photos. It was me... but in a way I have never seen myself before. You know those Instagram models whose beauty looks so.. unattainable? Girl, that was me after these photos. I don't even have an ass and Michael somehow made it look like I did! So if you're hesitating, just go for it girl. This is such an amazing experience. My confidence is through the roof. I'm ready for those Christmas photos this year, even with my crooked smile. (and I'm definitely ready to this again!) Side Note: "I don't look ready" For all you ladies who think, "I'll do a shoot when I've lost [x] pounds" or "I'll do a shoot when my ass looks like [x]." Don't think that way. You're perfect the way you are now and Michael is here to make sure you see that too. Trust me. I have the flattest ass in the world and he made me look HOT. But in all honesty, I didn't even buy any of the ass shots. I loved all the photos so much more! Looking hot isn't just about your ass. It's about your eyes, your hair, your confidence in a pair of heels... So take a note out of Shia Labeouf's book and JUST DO IT. Side Note: Covid related Michael and Miranda (the makeup artist) wore masks at all times. Miranda used brand new, disposal makeup tools only and there was no double dipping involved. Ten. Thousand. Stars. Five is just not enough! It was everything I wanted it to be. I can't say enough about what a positive, uplifting experience this was - from beginning to end. Vivian Tran, the hair/make-up pro was AWESOME and so fun! I brought inspo photos for make-up, we had a detailed conversation re: what I wanted (and didn't want) and she nailed it: it might've been my prettiest day. It took me a long time to find the courage to book my shoot. Most of the women in Michael's portfolio have 'aspirational' bodies, which is understandable - but a little intimidating. I knew he photographed 'regular' women too, but this was way out side my comfort zone (which is why I did it) and I had a bit of anxiety leading up to the shoot. As soon as I arrived I felt immediately at ease. Michael has a warm, calm and confident demeanor. I trusted him right away. The most important thing for me (considering how vulnerable I felt) was that I feel exactly as sexy as I did safe. And I absolutely did. He moved us through the session with light, easy conversation, I never felt rushed, and he was totally present and engaged - I couldn't have asked for more. Michael is not the cheapest boudoir photographer out there - but I do believe he's the best. Based on my experience, the value far outweighs the price. I looked at a few other photographers in the LA area for my boudoir shoot but felt like they weren't really my style - very posed, very made-up, very bright studio lights. Once I saw Michael's website, I stopped looking immediately and reached out to him. The images in his gallery were just damn sexy but had a very natural/relaxed feeling. The pictures are of course posed but they don't seem that way...you feel like you're getting a secret glimpse on a fun, intimate moment, which is just damn sexy. It was exactly what I wanted as I was giving this to my fiancé as a wedding gift. Like basically every other review, I was nervous about the posing - I thought I was going to have to already know what I wanted to do and how to do it...so awkward! Michael not only told me exactly how to pose but actually demonstrated some of them for me. You learn very quickly that he knows EXACTLY what he's doing - finding positions and angles that highlight your best features. Once I saw the first images on his camera, any and all awkwardness was gone and I was not just comfortable but having a really good time. The final pictures and the album are unbelievable. OMG where do I begin. Best experience ever!!! This was probably one of the best experiences ever, and I would recommend every women do this at least once in their life.I am getting married and thought a boudoir album would be a good wedding gift to give my fiancé during the honeymoon. Not only did I leave this shoot feeling sexy and super confident, but I was so pleased with my photos. I still can't believe my photos and poses turned out as amazing as they did. Let me start by saying I consider myself a confident woman so I didn't come to Michael worried that I would not get decent photos. However, I did come with apprehensions about whether Michael would capture the right angles, and whether me trying to be sexy would look funny. I wasn't sure if I could make a "sexy face" in my photos because I don't normally pose that way. I decided to go with Michael because, well to be honest, his reviews were really good. I wanted someone that was professional. I wanted to make sure my photographer would coach me through every step without making me feel awkward. I definitely made the right decision! Michael was extremely professional throughout my entire shoot. Before my shoot, he was sure to find out what I wanted and what poses were important to me. I was comfortable the entire shoot and Michael was really positive.I remember expressing a concern about my hair and he even put me in touch with the hairstylist so that we (hairstylist and I) could figure out beforehand what my hairstyle would be. I could not have asked for a better experience working with Michael. At first, I was being very picky about the photos that I liked when reviewing photographers and had narrowed down a few options from recommendations. I gifted myself photoshoot for my 40th birthday and it was one of the best experiences of my life. This particular year has been full of change, not only change of decade but also separating from my husband and becoming a single mom, rediscovering what it is to take back ownership of my life as a women. 5 stars isn't enough! I never considered myself sexy. I have always been the girl who makes a goofy face in a photo to avoid actually looking like I was trying to look pretty. So when my friend asked if I would do a boudoir photo shoot with her for her birthday, I did it more as a gift to celebrate her special day than for me. Little did I know I would book my own solo shoot a month later! Initially I was nervous when I heard a man was going to photograph us. My friend figured a man will photograph her in a way that her husband would love. As soon as I met Michael my nerves went away. He was so helpful from helping us pick out our outfits, to showing us how to pose, and even helping us select the photos once our ordering session came around. In the beginning, I would laugh every time I tried to make myself sexy, yet once Michael showed me a sneak peak from his camera view I instantly saw myself in a new light. I literarily walked out of his studio ready to take on the world. At our ordering session, I decided I wanted to do a full shoot. The pictures were better than I could have ever expected. Both my friend and I were over the moon with how great they came out. Her husband loved his album and she loved sharing the pictures with him. I cannot thank Michael enough. By the time the glamorous makeup is on and you're standing there looking amazed at yourself in front of the mirror in Michael's studio, the nerves will have subsided a bit. After all, Michael has been calm, professional, personable, and kind. The makeup artist, Vivian Tran, is talented, efficient, and funny. But, then there's the next matter of changing into outfits that you don't usually wear/have never worn before and, well, wearing them in front of a stranger. He instructs you on how to pose by showing you himself, makes adjustments to make each shot perfect, and above all, remains a complete professional. As Michael shows you each shot on his camera, you realize that this man does this for a living and his artistic expression is a medium to show your best features in photographic form. Seeing yourself in that way, and being able to show that to your significant other is incredibly validating and empowering. I chose Michael because I thought simply "Wow, his photos look the best. I'll go with him. Better than spending less money but maybe getting stuck with photos I might be unhappy with." But what I actually came to realize is that Michael's photos look the best because they have a natural look to them, are deeply expressive, and perhaps most importantly they unapologetically show the women as they are in the most beautiful way. Michael's approach is based on body-positivity and allowing you the opportunity to appreciate yourself, and that's what really comes through in the photos. So what else can I say that all the other reviewers haven't? I echo all the positive things that have been written here, and would highly recommend giving Michael a call just to chat and get to know him if you're at all considering having boudoir photos done. Such an amazing experience! Michael is truly amazing at what he does. From beginning to end, he takes care of you; the process is organized, he is super responsive, helpful, sends all pertinent information, coaches you throughout the session, and most importantly: is kind, professional and SUPER CALM. I looked through tons of photographers and was drawn to Michael because his photos were so sexy without being trashy or cliche. I feel like he can take a nude photo and make it artistic and almost poetic and that is exactly what I was looking for and he totally delivered. I am extremely critical of myself and my body but he poses you perfectly to give you the most flattering pictures ever. I literally said to him "what if I don't like a single picture we take" which is hilarious in hindsight because I was agonizing over which photos to cut from the album cause I felt super hot and confident in so many of them. When I thought of the idea of doing a boudoir photoshoot as a gift to my husband I started researching Pinterest, Instagram and Google . I found Michael's Instagram and loved his style. Then on Pinterest I kept pinning pictures and poses I wanted. Every picture I saw had these beautiful long, lean, statuesque models. I immediately thought OK, I've got to lose at least 25 lbs if I'm going to do this. I kept following Michael's Instagram and started to notice that all of his models were so different and SO INCREDIBLLY beautiful! So I started to gain confidence in what this man could do. Finally the week of the shoot I emailed him and checked logistics and even told him I wasn't going to eat the day of the shoot to be as thin as possible. His response only confirmed that I made the right choice picking him for this special experience. He told me that it didn't matter if I ate 4 cheeseburgers before my shoot... I was going to look beautiful . And I have to tell you... He was right. I'm a curvy girl who my husband finds sexy and Michael KNOWS his angles and knows just how to make sure your beautiful side is reflected in these photos. My experience was so much more than I could have expected. The makeup artist was fantastic, fun, and talented and made me look like a million bucks. The setting is absolutely beautiful, very private and peaceful. And Mike is great at making you feel comfortable and relaxed, and he walks you through every step of the process. Where do I start?! First of all, I found out about Michael through my coworker, and she was raving about how amazing he is at what he does! For fun, two coworkers & I had the opportunity to take some quick shots, and WOW!! All I can say is WOW! He is really amazing! I have never felt more beautiful as he was taking the pictures, the way he talks through it, saying "Wow! yesss!" "Work it" "beautiful" , I must say I really felt like I was workin' it! Let me just walk you through my day. First off I was driving in from Orange County so had to leave pretty early to skip the potential traffic. I get to the place and give him a call so I can park in the structure (I hate to parallel park). He answers and says he will be right down and open the gate for me. I wasn't nervous at all before this, but it started settling in at this point. Micheal walks down and introduces himself and shows me where to park. He kindly grabs one of my bags and directs me to where the shoot will be. We enter into the showing room area (where you will see all the pictures after) and he escorts me upstairs. There awaited the lovely Vivian Tran. She was there to do my hair and makeup. I can't say enough fantastic things about her either. I told her what I thought I wanted with my hair (straighter, not curly) and makeup. She was like let me give you depth and gave my hair some wave but not curly and gave my eyes a beautiful smokey eye. While she was doing my hair and makeup, Michael sat down and chatted me up. All the while 90's alternative was playing in the background which just made my heart incredibly happy. He made it a point to make me feel comfortable and wanted to get to know me better. It was sweet and refreshing. Vivian finished with my makeup, gave me a huge hug and promptly left. After that was all said and done, the fun was about to begin. Michael sat me down and showed me some beautiful albums and told me what to expect and explained the process to me. He even showed me some poses ahead of time. We then moved on to my mountain of clothing options. We put everything out and picked what would work best. Once the outfits were chosen, we got started. When we started the session, I took his lead. He helped to pose me and make me feel relaxed and if I asked again to show me, he would. If I just was not understanding what he was trying to do, I would just have him "move" me. It made the process go smoothly and move along quickly. I seriously had the best time of my life. I was beautiful and feeling so confident. It was a weird out of body experience to see myself in a picture looking beautiful. Michael works with the natural lighting so elegantly. I plan on doing another shoot again in about a year and a half or so. I plan on going back to Michael, and I am so excited to see what the next session is going to be like. I highly recommend Michael and cannot stop raving about him. I cannot express how much Michael made this session worth it in every way possible. My expectations going into it was excited yet partially scared. Some of those scared feelings had to do a lot with Michael being with a male photographer. The stigma is real folks. I was proud to tell my mother I was doing a boudoir shoot to empower my self and be proud of me for me. Still, I was hesitant to open up to her initially about having a male photographer and doing potentially nude shots. I was happy to tell my mother after the shoot that it was a male photographer and it was the best experience I have ever had. I had a blast doing my photo shoot with Michael! I'd been thinking about making an album as an anniversary gift for a while, and loved the images on his website. The first time around, I did this for my husband... the second time around, I did it not just for my husband but for myself. For as long as I can remember, I was plagued with what society deems a beautiful body. The constant thought of what I shouldn't be putting in my mouth and the hours of exercise a week I needed to complete in order to just maintain (what was in my mind) a "so so figure", it was exhausting both emotionally and physically. I never realized just how unaccepting I was of my own body. Then I became a mother and all sense of self worth flew out the window. My body wasn't the same anymore. The workouts became more vigorous because I was racing my body to be something that it wasn't naturally born to be. Then I came across Michael's information while doing a bridal make up trial with, what was unbeknown to me, one of the stylists he uses for his shoots. She had his business card displayed in her room. That's when a light bulb went off in this once conservative girl's mind. I thought, "Why not? It'll be a nice surprise for my husband". Needless to say, he was floored by, in simplest terms, masterpiece that Michael created and surprisingly enough, I loved everything about the pictures... I loved the way my body looked and that was a rarity!It became a breakthrough for me. A little over two years after my first photo shoot with Michael, and 2nd child later, I decided to do it again. I mean, why not? I was only getting older and aside of loving how I felt and looked when I completed the shoot, I decided it would be an enticing Christmas present for my husband. Going through this process, I've learned so much about the power of self acceptance and to just really love myself for who I am and how I look. Michael helped me appreciate and celebrate every little bit of me. A powerful gift that came from such a spontaneous thought. This review is going to be long but TOTALLY WORTH reading it!! I honestly don't believe that 5 stars is enough. This shoot was beyond anything I could have imagined. I have been searching for a boudoir photographer for 3 years. I wanted a certain style and to be comfortable with the photographer. I wanted to feel sexy without looking trashy. I wanted this experience to be done the right way. After 3 years of waiting, I got the chance of a lifetime and it was so worth the wait! Just like many women I never thought about a male photographer but I have been following Michaels work for a while now and knew he was the only guy I would trust to take these kind of photos. I have watched his videos and got to know him through his social media. Y'all, that is so him! He is incredibly open, he made me feel comfortable within minutes of actually meeting him in person. We laughed throughout the entire session and now he feels like a good friend of mine. I was 100% comfortable during my entire session and I contribute that to Michael putting himself out there to let us know him. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt special and like I deserved this. I have my own business and a toddler and this was much needed "me time". Hair and makeup was incredible! I felt beautiful and pampered. Then it was time for photos and just like many women, I was nervous! Nervous in the best way possible! I was prepared to be giggly from all of the nerves and the fact that I can't make a sexy face (or so I thought)! He walked me through the steps of sexy face and then showed me some of the images, HOLY CRAP!!!! SEXY!!!! Who knew I could do that?!?! He walked me through all of the poses and never made me feel like I was doing something wrong. He was encouraging and so reassuring through the entire shoot! He showed me images throughout my session and it helped me feel confident and sexy! I'm still walking around with a confidence that I didn't have before the shoot. Where do I begin?! Shooting these photos with Michael was such an amazing experience. He made me feel so comfortable and it was so much fun! When I finally decided it's now or never, I did extensive research of the boudoir photographers in the OC/LA region and settled on Michael based on his clients' reviews, his website, and Instagram photos. Ladies, I did the research for you ;) I appreciated that Michael photographed an array of women with a variety of body types and they all look absolutely gorgeous. On the day of the shoot, I felt very at ease with Michael. He is skilled at making you feel beautiful and comfortable. He took effort to ensure I felt welcomed before and during the shoot. I have no tips or advice for Michael because the experience/photos I received were just that amazing. If you have been contemplating doing a boudoir shoot, do it. I had been feeling really self conscious about myself since the birth of my last child three years ago. Since I am a mother of four children, my body has gone through many changes and rendered me insecure about myself. I thought having boudoir photos taken would help immensely with my self esteem.
