Good God this place makes my blood boil. I would GENUINELY rather play golf in the heart of Afghanistan in 2004 than spend 5 minutes here. I had a tee time at 12:08 and did not get to swing the golf club until 12:45. This place might be hell on earth. Not only is the pace slower than a horse with no legs, the conditions are that of the 126 freeway. Not a single blade of Bermuda grass to be seen. If you're one that likes to hit from grass, do NOT come here. You are SERIOUSLY better off going to Huntsinger and hitting clubs. I would give zero if it would let me. I took my 4 year old son with me for a 10:30am tee time on a Thursday. It wasn't busy and would be a great time to introduce him to golf. He and my daughter have ridden with me before at other much nicer courses, with no issues and no questions asked. They had a great time. Today I checked in was told I had to wait, then the GM said we can't play. With all the denim, work boots, and flip flops I have seen on that course, you would think it would be fine. His power wheels goes faster than the golf cart. What is the point of making us sign a release of liability, when you yourself don't honor it. In summary I had to take my crying upset son and go to another course. read more

Great golf course for beginners or people that jsut want to have fun and not as uptight as other places

Short flat course with small greens. Since all the rains and water problem taken care of and a NEW younger manager eager to turn the course around with the right help now the course looks great. Honestly... I can't believe it after starting to golf there a few years ago. What a change. Right now the Fairways are lush, green and have a cut rough now. The greens are fast and a LOT better then when i started playing there. Price is right also, joined the club, comes with a option of medium to large bucket of balls everyday, $10 for 9 holes and play around again for $5. Cart $12 Also you get a cheap beer or water with a paid round. Hopefully the course will look this good all year long. read more

Play this course often. The new management has been putting in a lot of work to get this course cleaned up. Would be nice if they posted rates in the club house more clearly because I'm fairly certain they've increased prices but it's still a good value. Training of the newer hires leaves something to be desired... sometimes they mischarge or forget to check for membership status. Fairly busy now. Used to be able to walk on but last couple months have to book a tee time. I see this as all the good progress making the course more popular. Keep up the good work. read more

Hackers welcome ! If you're a golf snob go somewhere else! This is the welcome to golf type place where all newbies are welcome and you don't have to feel out of place trying something new! It's rough it's rugged the fair ways are crispy but the greens are bright! The driving range is spacious and fairly priced at 16 bucks for a large bucket of balls. Again if you're a golf snob go somewhere else. I typically take the kids out to the driving range and we have a good time talking/joking around with each other because we are there for fun. We spend time together laugh and joke and that's what it's all about, if you've thought about bringing your kids do it they'll have fun even my 4 year old loves going! read more

Did you know that if you're driving down Telephone Rd or Wells Rd along the Saticoy Regional Golf Course and you or your vehicle is damaged by a golf ball that the golf course takes no responsibility for it?..... me neither until it happened to us. Please be careful. Apparently it's their policy and completely legal even though there aren't signs anywhere stating this ridiculous policy. Someday someone is going to be seriously hurt by a ball. They need to have higher nets or restrict new players from this course! read more

This golf course has been mismanaged for years. The latest outrage is the driving range net. It got knocked down by wind around Feb/March 2023. Here were are six months later and it still has not been repaired. There seems to be no effort to fix it. What should be a local gem is instead a local embarrassment. Any golfers who want to practice driver must drive to Olivas or elsewhere. read more

Edit: I'm reading a lot of negatives about Saticoy; but people, everything has been locked down for a year due to the Covid. What do you expect? When Charlie owned it, the pro shop, driving range and putting range were the draws; plus they had a twilight summer league we all played in. The driving range was/ is the busiest. This course is never going to be Augusta, but who cares! Unless you think you're hot shit and this course is beneath your talents. Try it and prove how great you are. Twilight costs $9.00. There are few courses in my life that I felt like I was ripped off but I've never felt so disrespected as a customer. First of all, you think you would be going to a decent course but you show up to an arid landscape, the greens had more spots than a leapord, one had a mushroom growing out it, and it was bumpier than my 15 year old brother's face. The pace of play was awful, there were 2 singles in front of us. There should be a net on the 9th for shanked balls My buddy's ball got stolen out of the rough on the 3rd hole to make things worse Literally don't come here if you don't have a membership, and if you do, you should probably cancel it. Super shabby course with rude staff. The location is convenient for me so I have tried to overlook all of this course's deficiencies over the years but the bad encounters just keep piling up. One of my main issues is a manager who has been working there for many years. He acts like he's obtained golf management tenure. Rude, dismissive, and combative. He just seems eager to jab at customers if he's rubbed the wrong way. Beyond that, cart fees are ridiculous considering the quality of the course. This place is shabby. Wanted to take my son golfing for the first time. He is 6 so "proper age" per golf course rules. He still does not have the attention span for me to pay for an 18 round of golf for him specifically. My buddy and I figured letting him putt every now and then would be acceptable, especially seeing how we're a young group of two guys usually playing faster than everyone else anyways. We're regulars at this course. The men at the clubhouse made my son feel terrible and unwelcome and he was hardly comfortable even attempting to swing a club after our interactions. If they want to ACTUALLY follow rules regarding this then maybe they should start getting upset with others breaking CLEAR and obvious rules, letting groups of 8 play, taking the same swing 3 times delaying everyone behind them. I've never been to a course that's more money hungry and biased. Go somewhere else if you want your kids to feel welcome, AND if you don't want to get stuck behind a group of 8 men taking their sweet time, the "marshal" won't do anything about it. What a joke! I'll also add that the course is shit, we only come here since its easiest access for a quick 9. Not Anymore! I was visiting my father-in-law and decided to go play this course as it was the closest to the house. The course is not well taken care of. Fairways and greens are full of weeds. There are no tee markers so it was just a guess as to where you go next. Walked out the first day with my son. We only had one set of clubs and played without a problem. We played 9 holes in 90 minutes. We decided to go back for one more quick round despite the quality of the course. We walked out the same time. We had no idea what our tee time was and waited on the first tee box for 40 minutes as groups walked in front of us. The level of golf was poor, which isn't a problem, but I was approached by a "marshal" who said we needed two sets of clubs for both of us to play. Even after I told him that we played a few days prior without an issue and that we will not have a problem keeping up with the group ahead of us, he said no. Not worth the money. read more

Fun 9 hole course. Well kept fairways and greens. Atmosphere is relaxed. Employees tend to lean toward either the very friendly/professional side or to the rude and unwelcoming side. One of the old marshal won't even acknowledge a friendly greeting while the other is a pleasure to speak with at the first hole. Behind the counter same thing. This is a recreational facility. On our way back from our Labor Day getaway, we stopped here to go driving. We chose this place over some place in SB because it's associated with American Golf and we had some range cards leftover from our visit to the Dominguez Hills Golf Course, which is also part of American Golf. I agree with the penguin that the range is in a slight state of disrepair. We played off mats and they would tend to slide around. We didn't have time to play the course but the fairways look pretty wide and open. The one definite good thing about the place is that it's not too far from the ocean so it's still gets cool air. read more

My sons and I have been several times... its okay for the price.We usually have a great time. However, I left my sunglasses on the cart this past Friday evening and I called Saturday and Monday to see if they turned up but they were never turned in!!!. Made a tee time in advance and talked to someone on the phone that stated you can play 18 if you want to & if there is room. Well you are at the mercy of the poor judgment of Zach in the pro shop. We asked prior to the round if we could play 18 and at the turn on 9 & both times he was "booked solid." So it was quite frustrating to see the foursome in front of us go right through and play the back nine. When I confronted Zach on why they were allowed to play through but we weren't (a twosome) he was flustered and seemed annoyed or mad that I asked and got defensive. He stated that there was a no show but when my friend had asked he said they were 15 minutes behind. I think he was embarrassed that he was caught in a lie & was probably sneaking his friends through on a busy day. Used to love the course for the price but paying $22 bucks for 9 holes just doesn't sit right after this experience. read more

Poor customer at its finest. After renting a set of clubs to play our round we headed into the shop to return them. While waiting in line to get our deposit back one of our bags accidentally fell over onto the floor. Joe, the clerk commented "that's why your not suppose to bring your bags into the shop" (with sarcasm) and we responded by saying "they are your clubs and we need to return them. Joe then grabs windex and paper towels and demands that we need to clean our clubs off before we can get our deposit back . We declined his offer as that is never the process for a paying customer nor was it the agreement when renting the set. read more

This is a good golf course for the beginning to intermediate golfer who does not want too much trouble on the course. The rough is short and there is not water! It's 9 holes plays in under 2 hours, easy to walk and not too difficult to get a tee time. And the price is right. read more

Saticoy is a good course for someone just starting out. very straightforward and not too long. Definitely not my choice for an afternoon with River Ridge and Olivas Park a hop, skip, and a jump away. It has its charm, but most fairway shots are a tight lie and the pace of play can be maddening. I stick to the range mostly now because the markers are easily readable to me. It's pricey for what you get (especially when I can get a $20 round at River Ridge for my age group). read more

Not a bad place for a quick round. Course is in good condition, from tee to green, but can be a bit damp in places. No significant trouble except a few areas where OB is a lost ball. Pretty much a straight forward course with a couple of doglegs. Early bird special is 8 bucks on a weekend, can't beat that. read more

Nice golf course with very well kept fields. I would highly recommend this location if you are going to play in the fields. There is some room for kite flying but the very tall trees will get in the way. The fields here are huge though so there are plenty of things to do. read more

Back in 1976 I first started to play at Saticoy golf course, or as it was know then as"Charmin Charlies" Charlie owned the course then and had played on the tour back in the 40s and 50s, he told us he had played with Hogan, Snead and others. There was a friend of Charlies named Ashley Lafoe who also played the tour. He taught at the driving range and would play nine holes with us, always for a dollar or two, it was his motivation to play his best. Some guy named Jimmy worked the desk and would always let a group (always about 6 or 7 guys) of us go off for free during the week at twilight. Summer evenings playing golf for free with a group that was as nuts about golf as I was, it was great. A Mexican guy named Al was the primary greens keeper, he said he was the only one who knew where all the sprinkler hookups where for the watering of the course. He figured this gave him job security, sober he was a great guy, drunk, the biggest "A" hole you ever knew. weird. I Must have hit about a million balls at the range, its where I learned to play. I saw Efrem Zimbalist Jr. Al Geiberger and Als sons (Who later played on the tour) all at the range. Charmin Charlie seemed to attract celebrities. Some of my fondest memories of beginning golf. But..... back to the course itself, great course very playable, I was always a fan of number 3 a reachable par 5 that we never reached, but always had fun trying, number 7 was a great par 3, long and difficult, a good course for any skill level, with lots of history behind it. All the previous reviews are right on. This is my go-to course on weekends. I'm not a golf snob (or a really good golfer), but if you are looking for a cheap place ($8 early bird) to play where you can easily walk the course, this is it. It's a 9-hole par 34 course. There aren't any marshals so you can get caught up in slow play at times. There is crab grass and some fairway bunkers with dirt instead of sand, but most of the greens and fairways are kept in really good shape. Overall you can't beat the price. Great place for beginners and those who would rather play 9 holes instead of hit a large bucket of range balls. read more

What can I say about this place? I'm new to golf so I can't complain this is a good place to learn. Not as intimidating as some other fancy clubs in the area. Staff seems friendly enough I always get greeted by the instructor when I come through. The range is fun although they only offer mats to hit off of and can't hit off the grass (as far as I can tell anyway). Putting and chipping green is nice too. Rates are inexpensive compared to other places I've seen. Overall I think it's good for a quick and cheap game especially for beginner golfers like myself. Is it the best? Probably not but hey as long as I get to play I'm not complaining. read more

My second time there and I'm happy. They worked with me because I misunderstood the rules for children to spectate. I was able to play that day with my 8 year old. The staff and the Marshall seem very down to earth and genuinely nice. Second time there today we had a tee time but on arrival like four more groups show up on walk -in. Everyone acted very polite throughout the nine which I credit the Marshall for making his rounds. The pro shop is by far the best stocked for any nine hole I have seen in the area. The greens are smooth and fast but as expected the fairways are somewhat dry since there's no rain these days. Its a nice way to spend the afternoon on a long nine. read more

I have lived in Ventura for the past 30 years. This golf course is close to my house. It has a driving range, pro shop and a 9 hole that is fun. I like the putting greens here and the chipping practice area. Prices are very good and I have never been rushed on the green. Only drawback is you will get a lot of golfers who do not know the rules of the game. I can not tell you how many times I have had some one pick up my ball on the course after I just hit it. Twilight golf is great in the summer here. Good times. read more
