Right away, Jim took the time to explain how everything works and walked me through the different club options, including the pros and cons of each. Even though the store was very busy with a lot of customers, he never made me feel rushed and took great care of me throughout the entire process. What I appreciated most was that he never tried to upsell me or push me toward the most expensive clubs. Instead, he genuinely listened to what I needed and recommended the set that was the best fit for me. Customer service like this is hard to find these days. I highly recommend Roger Dunn, and honestly, a big reason why is Jim. If you're new to golf or looking for honest advice, ask for Jim--you'll be in great hands!

Single greatest experience I have ever had in a golf shop, be it corporate or private…read more I finally went in to get new clubs. The staff were knowledgeable, patient and fair. When I say fair I mean honest. I was steered away from a very expensive upsell on a shaft for my irons Bob pointed out that I was hitting the less expensive steel shaft really well and that the only thing the carbon fiber shaft would do was jack up the price of each iron by about $75.00. During my fitting I would ask what they thought about the club I was trying out. Their answer was always, " what do you think, how does it feel to you?" no one tried to steer me to a more expensive product, it was always about what was right for me. The club fitting was successful, the follow up service is phenomenal. I love my new clubs. My game is better than ever.

He put his recommendations up at the front counter. We live in SCV and made a trip to North Hollywood based on our interaction over the phone with Drew. All the staff were friendly. We decided to get all three clubs and Drew helped us find a reasonable putter. He really encouraged me. I have recently taken a lesson and played a small par 3 course and would like to keep trying. Drew explained that if I want a full beginner set of clubs to bring back the ones I purchased within 90 days for a full store credit to be used for a set of clubs. You then have 1 year to upgrade that set with a full refund/store credit. They really encourage everyone giving golf a chance, which I find very enlightening. So far all my golfing experiences have been good and Drew and this Roger Dunn Golf Shop are on the top of the list.

I've been walking in and out of these stores for many years, yet nothing has really changed--the staff still don't seem welcoming or interested in helping customers. They often come across as unapproachable and uninterested. When I've asked questions, instead of getting clear answers, it feels like they try to avoid responding and simply walk away. Customer service matters, especially in a specialty store where people come to learn and get advice. I'm actually someone who prefers supporting local businesses and avoiding shopping online from places like Amazon whenever possible, because I understand how it impacts local stores. But experiences like this make it really difficult to justify that choice. I hope this is something that can be improved, because right now, it's hard to feel motivated to shop here.

I am inclined to say 3.5 star review but can't give it a 4 so i'm rounding down to a 3…read more I went here for a full bag fitting to see if my equipment was the best for me, or to see where I could improve. I made an appointment for 10:30AM with Steve and drove the 1hr to get this fitting started. Fitting-I think we started 10 mins late as he was finishing up with another client. He did check up on me when i arrived and let me know we would be getting started soon. Friendly guy, asked what i was trying to accomplish and we started trying some things. I made the mistake of saying i wanted to try more players irons which ended up scratching all the game improvement irons. We tested a few combos and decided that my current set was best. Next we moved on to the Driver. We tried 3 different manufacturers and ended up with a Ping G430. We then checked out my 5w and also a 4H since I struggle to hit my long irons. We didn't mess with my 5w and ended up on a paradym 4H. The fitting itself was fine but i was disappointed because the site makes it seem like they'll show you video and tell you all these details which will help you make the best decision but instead it felt like a really dialed down experience. Hit stuff, check some number, move on. I never really got any big feedback, "spin is here with this club, we really want to bring this down" or just different shaft combinations, all the new heads etc. One of the main reasons I came here was because they advertise how they have all the latest from the biggest manufacturers but we only tried a couple. Maybe my swing is just not great or Maybe steve is just dialed in that trying other things just wasn't going to do much. Maybe it's up to me to ask that we try everything they have to offer? either way I wasn't mad about the fittings. Steve only charged me as if fitting driver, which I assume is because that's what we spent the most time on. Overall I'd say we spent 1 hour on the fitting and , while not fully satisfied, i was fine with it. Where my rating comes from is they buying of clubs and after. I ended up purchasing a callaway 4H and a Ping driver on 5/27. I understood that Monday was a holiday and Steve said it usually takes 2 weeks to get the clubs. I was hoping to get tracking since my clubs were going to ship to work. I emailed Steve a week after and no response. A few days later I called and he said that they normally don't do tracking but since i was in santa maria, he'd follow up and send it once he received it. 2 weeks rolled by and nothing, I e-mailed again and no response. Finally I emailed one more time asking if there had been a delay or if something was on backorder, and if it was to cancel the order because i could get the clubs locally. There was nothing custom except the grips. I understand the supply chain can be crazy right now but the lack of communication was unacceptable, in my opinion. It takes 2 mins to say "working on it no shipping yet" or something. Maybe my 2 clubs wasn't that important to care about? I finally got my driver on the same day, I had sent this last email, and packing slip said the club was ordered on 6/10. A few days later i received my hybrid and said 6/8 order date. Not sure what happened, if they were too busy and took a week to place the order or if the packing slips were wrong but the lack of communication was a deal breaker for me. I'm in sales myself and understand that work can get crazy but to be unresponsive for 2 weeks and just ignore e-mails is unacceptable. I'll be staying local with all my golf needs.

I worked with Steve for the past four months to improve my distance to compete in long drive competitions. Steve listened to my goals and we started attacking it to get longer and longer drives. We have gotten my longest drive up to 389 yards on the Foresight. Steve has been an exceptional instructor and I highly recommend him. I have not worked with Trevor, but I have heard great things. Definitely try the swing eval if you are on the fence and then you can decide to get clubs fit or to buy a lesson package.

What sets Jay apart isn't just his knowledge of golf equipment--although he can talk clubs, shafts, and ball flight for hours. It's his integrity. At no point did I ever feel like I was being pushed into a certain club because of a commission, manufacturer relationship, or sales incentive. His only goal is to find what actually works best for your swing. I've paid significantly more for fittings elsewhere, and I've had clubs built for more than double what Jay charges. Despite that, none of those experiences came close to the value, attention to detail, and results I've received working with him. Once I found Jay, it felt like unlocking a toolbox I never knew I had. The equipment finally matched what I was trying to do, and the confidence that came with that carried over to every part of my game. In the span of a single year, I went from a 15 handicap to a 4 handicap and am now working toward scratch golf. If you're looking for someone who is honest, knowledgeable, passionate about the game, and genuinely invested in helping golfers improve, I can't recommend Jay highly enough.
