Small and a little cluttered, but I loved the vibe of this place, and the work was done well and at a good, competitive price. I know a few things about cars and I was very confident they were being straight with me. Also the guy showed me the replaced parts and even offered them to me (which I declined) but I appreciated the directness and honestly. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because I was told on drop off "two hours" and it ended up being quite a bit longer. USed the perfect most value combo of OEM and aftermarket parts and worth every penny for my 2011 Honda CRV with 186K miles. Absolutely phenomenal! I have been getting my Mercedes serviced at the Mercedes dealership like a moron because they charge quadruple the price. I stupidly thought that it was better to get the mandatory services that a Mercedes needs at certain levels of mileage. Mercedes insisted that it was much better to do it there, so for the first three I had them do it without question this time for my a service at 60,000 miles I decided to price it out and realize I was being ripped off on another level. I recently brought my Lexus GX and Honda CRV for inspections and repairs and I had a great experience. My CRV was shaking like crazy at highway speeds and I was convinced I had to get me cv axle replaced and maybe my suspension. The staff here took a look and told me I should try getting an alignment and tire balance. Turned out to be exactly what the car needed for just a little over $100! I can't believe I hadn't written a review of Sato yet. They are the most trustworthy mechanics I have ever known. I had a 12 yr old 180K mile subaru that was literally crumbling in spots. They helped diagnose a coolant leak in a very timely and helpful manner. You may not be able to wait in a convenient spot (it's really just a garage with an awning where a lot of people hang around) but you make an appointment, they are reasonably fast, they talk you through everything they do (WITH costs) and are profoundly upfront about everything. "We don't have part today, we'll get it tomorrow" and BOOM you are set. This time I stopped by for my engine light on. #1 all the service men showed up promptly at 9AM and shot me a "good morning" as acknowledgement when they walked past as I waited. #2 once they got a little settled inside, someone immediately came out to me and asked what I needed. I simply appreciated being acknowledged. No sense of rudeness was displayed AT ALL. #3 the gentleman that physically looked at my car simply coded it, lifted the hood and immediately started trying to figure out the issue. I came prepared to pay just for them hooking up their diagnostic coder....didn't even charge me for that. AND didn't even charge me for his quick 20min inspection of the problem. My engine light went off, he told me to test drive it. I came back just to ensure they didn't want any money, but I was very willing to pay just for them being so friggin helpful and attentive. Our car broke down on the highway it was brutally hot out and 4 o'clock in the afternoon. No mechanics would take our calls Or agree to help us and we still had a 4 Hour Dr. to get back to our kids. Sato auto answered our call, fit us in, went above and beyond, stayed late, was very reasonably priced, and even called us after when we were charged a bit extra to refund us the money on our card. Very, Very, happy that I discovered this garage. I had no idea where to go when I had what I thought was an failed alternator with my diesel Mercedes. My "go to" Mechanic is in Newark NJ and I would travel to him for my repairs because of his honesty, his ability to fix the problems and his very fair pricing. However, because a fully charged battery would die en route with a failed alternator, it would have required to be towed which would have cost me quite a few hundred dollars. I came across SATO on Yelp and decided I would give them a try after reading the reviews. As it turned out, it was good fortune that I brought it to SATO because it was not a job that could be completed in one day. It was not alternator problem, it was an electrical short. When he told me that, I immediately thought I would need to bring it to a dealership and anticipated paying substantially to get it fixed. Shigeo, the manager, told me that he had just fixed an electrical short on a different car and he seemed confident so I decided to give him a shot. Not only did he discover the short and fixed it, he also discovered where water was leaking into my car that caused the short. Not sure how he located it but apparently a nut came loose off the roof rack which was allowing water to seep in to the vehicle. Since the vehicle was already there I also asked him to do a thorough inspection to determine if any preventive maintenance was recommended. He did identify that he has historically seen failure in a couple of specific hoses and the serpentine belt was showing minor wear so I gave him the go-ahead after he provided me the estimated cost. To summarize, I have now found a new "go to" mechanic. read more
