You can get a couple of acute angles through the gate but you're not getting within 100 yards. If there is a football event and you have tickets, you're all over it. Sky Mirror was created by Anish Kapoor, artist of Chicago's "The Bean" and he calls it a "non-object" which is a thing that is invisible despite its monumental size. It was unveiled in 2013 and weighs 23 tons. It cost $14 million. There is no free parking in the stadium lots. I asked two different parking lot attendants if I could just leave my car for ten minutes and both said no. This sculpture is located in Terminal D of the Dallas International Airport. It is right out front…read moreof Starbucks and the line actually goes through it if it is long enough. It is part of DFW's Art Program and is the work of Dennis Oppenheim, who made the piece in 2005. It is constructed of aluminum and reminds me a lot of Superman's lair, the Fortress of Solitude. The sculpture is 30 feet high and has an arched tunnel through the center with blue LED lighting overhead. Oppenheim was inspired by the natural form of crystals while creating this piece which depicts crystals of different sizes sprouting up at different angles. Travelers have been known to leave trinkets or foodstuffs in the dark recesses of the tunnel. Don't be surprised if you see half eaten candies, water bottles, rubber bands, paper airplanes, even small stuffed animals. The sculptures fabricators, Studio Six, performs regular scheduled inspections of Crystal Mountain and regular dustings mostly done from an aerial lift using a HEPA vacuum. I really like this sculpture it is one that demands your attention. You cannot miss it. Even though the Sculpture is open to the public. Its viewers are limited to ticketed passengers since it is located beyond the security check point. If you are in terminal D you ae sure to see it. But if you are at one of the other terminals, and have time, I recommend checking this spot out. Fun fact: Oppenheim has a similar piece in Cincinnati called Crystal Garden. It is made of colorful acrylic though and located outdoors.

Inspiration Alley is free and adjacent to local businesses. They keep this place clean with a couple of options for seating, including chairs shaped as a mask. I came on a sunny day and enjoyed the quiet and colorful atmosphere. There was another person there that I went, who was taking photos. They include a brief description of the artwork and the name of the artist which I enjoyed reading. I could imagine spending a couple of hours by yourself or with friends/family.

What a lovely Little Rock Art Path in Keller Texas- nestled just off the right hand side parking…read morelot of Keller Point. As you walk through the path between the trees, you'll see a bridge and to the right there is a little cute bicycle on a stick. This little wind vane indicates the free bike tire air pump available. As you face the bridge, with the bike tire pump on your right, look immediately left and you'll see the opening of the rock path . As you stroll along, you'll see a wonderful, creative display of rock artwork! Also, some beautiful tributes to loved ones. There are also several benches to sit on. I loved the Betty White tribute. Was touched be several tributes to local loved ones. The path has a canopy of trees keeping it a cool place to walk during the hot summer days. Hope this posting inspires young and older artists ‍ to paint and bring more for all to see and enjoy!

BEEP! Must Destroy Humanity- but where is the train? 404 Train Error…read more This giant, Texas-sized robot seems to be lounging around, idly waiting for a train. Usually robots are so- unrelaxed, but this one is chillin'. It's appropriate for Deep Ellum, where everything has a relaxed, laid back vibe. There's a few of these robots around the Deep Ellum area, they're all huge, polished steel, and whimsical! The robots are along the DART line, so they're cool spots to take in the art. I always appreciate local, large scale public art! Way to go Dallas for getting these installed.

At this corner, you can see The Traveling Man kicked back on a bench with a mandolin/banjo in his hands surrounded by his sweet bird friends. Art like this makes our cities come alive--I'm so happy to have something like this in Dallas! It was a great spot to add to our scooter tour of Deep Ellum with out-of-state guests!

The longhorns that run through Pioneer Plaza! For murals, the best spot is Deep Ellum. If you're a fan of graffiti art, there's huge spray painted murals. Some are guerrilla, done by artistic locals while keeping an eye out for 5-0. Others are done by local bars, and promote something cool. The Deep Ellum robots are a cool site to behold. Dallas certainly has a vibe to it, which is helped by the public arts scene. Three cheers to landlords who allow the sides of their warehouses to be used as a canvas for the local arts community. I suppose one could say that the best place to check out Dallas Arts is the Dallas Museum of Arts. While it does have a magnificent portfolio of famous artists, the real arts scene is on the streets where everyone can take in the art, and the locals participate.
