A wonderful Salon when the Stylist decide to actually stay. I've gone through two Stylist in the almost 3 years I've been coming here which isn't why they deserve the 3-stars. It's bc their cancellation policy is absolutely ridiculous! About a year ago, they apparently let go of the girl I was seeing and I had already pre-booked her for a future appointment. She had text me to let me know she was no longer with the Salon so I figured my appointment was cancelled. Loandbehold the day comes and I get a call from the Salon telling me I was being charged $100+ for my service bc I was a no-show. So I'm obviously pissed! I thought the girl that I was speaking to was a Receptionist but she ended up being one of the other Hairstylist so we had agreed she would see me and we could use my $100 charge as a credit. Anyway, she's amazing and I end up seeing her for a few visits. Then I get a text that she's no longer with the Salon :) At this point I call and make sure they cancel my appointment BUT my Mother also was seeing the same girl as me, didn't know she had left so when she got the confirmation email she thought everything was fine and showed up to the Salon and this new girl had to break it to her that she would be doing her hair. She was irritated but went through the appointment anyway. When I tell you my Mom called me at work livid! First off, the girl seemed to have just graduated Cosmetology School bc she was absolutely clueless in how to handle her "fine" hair just saying a whole bunch of nothing lol. Wasn't really hospitable.. idk my Mom was just eager to get out of there. But the thing that was absolutely disgraceful was this girl left dried dye all over her hairline and neck! Mom is older and didn't notice till she got in the car (when she called me) bc the lighting was brighter. I told her to go back in there and have the girl wipe it off or at least give her the removal pads but she's just so over this place. She had even sent a pic to me and the work was just sloppy. It's crazy to pay good money for Fantastic Sam's quality. Anyway, it's been a great run here. Definitely give it a try but either don't get too attached to the Stylist or be prepared to follow them to a new spot when they leave. read more

I just want to say thank you so much to Peggy. My hair is thinning and I have had a hard time finding someone I felt comfortable with cutting my hair. I went maybe almost a year without getting it cut because of anxiety that I had surrounding my hair thinning. Peggy made me feel comfortable and let me know that hey hair texture is similar to mine. Terrible blow out experience. Was called and asked to come to my appointment 30 minutes earlier only to not have my service start till 25 minutes after that change of appointment. Frustrating given I left a lunch early to accommodate the time change. The stylist assigned to me only took 22 minutes (compared to every other blowout I have had usually takes 45) to do my service and it was limp without style or volume and the underneath of my hair not even completely dry. I mentioned adding some oomf but there was no professional attempt to fix. She barely tried. Truly dissatisfied and had to redo it myself at home for my event. A bit of a strange experience...this is an honest review...no B.S. I arrived 3 minutes late because I didn't know where it was located and didn't know I had to park at the meters so I was looking for coins. I haven't professionally cut my hair in about a year and 4 months because I had my 2nd child. My fiancé butchered my hair about 8 months ago and it finally fully grew out again. Since I finally felt comfortable leaving my baby home for more than 3 hours I decided to do something for myself. I'm used to having one hair stylist doing everything for me but here it's like there's one person (owner) doing all the cutting for all the customers then the other hair stylists helping out. I specifically requested "Peggy" to cut and color my hair which meant I would pay a higher rate for her. I guess Peggy was working around everyone going from one person to another but I didn't see any other stylist cutting hair. Maybe she was the only person doing the cutting that day? So I'm not sure if I paid the "premium" price for her for nothing because everyone was getting their hair cut by her? She asked someone if they wanted their hair cut by her and they weren't sure due to a time crunch so I know she didn't request for a hair cut by her or at all. Peggy was a little rude in a professional way if that makes sense. She was making comments about my hair which I already knew, it was dry. She answered her personal phone which was okay because it seemed to be an emergency but stopping what you're doing on me to start someone else's hair cut is a little unprofessional. When she finally started on my hair it was 20 minutes past my appointment time. I did come in 3 minutes late though. She actually stopped a few times and walked off then came back. Once left for a while then walked pass and touched my hair then walked off? I was like haha okay. Also after Peggy did a fast layering cut on my hair she said she was going to cut it after my hair was shampooed because she can't cut it like that? I'm assuming she means it being dry? I was fine with the initial rushed hair cut because she said she was going to cut it after shampooing. My last hair stylist would cut some off, wash my hair, then come back and finish cutting my hair. With that being said she did NOT continue to cut my hair after it being shampooed. Also, the hair cut should have came with a blowout but they said they had no time left so I left not knowing how my hair looked because it was wet and it not being cut again. I paid about $550 with everything, including tip. I feel ripped off honestly, would not come back here. I just looked at my receipt after getting home (they didn't offer me a paper receipt in-store) and they charged me $100 for "tone and gloss". I checked online and a tone and gloss with Peggy should have been $65. What was also funnier is that Peggy was NOT the person that gave me this service, it was Katie. They should put on their website that when you are getting your hair colored/highlighted that you may need "toner and gloss". This was an extra cost I was not aware of since this was my first time I ever highlighted my hair. I had to look up what this was. I came here because of the location and reviews and there were some 1-star reviews but the 5-stars outweighed it. You might be the person that gets the 5-star experience but that was not me unfortunately. I actually read one of the 1-star negative reviews and I had a very very similar experience. If you never came here before and possibly want to get ripped off then you can take the gamble. However you may want to anticipate an extra $100 charge and an additional 45 minutes out of your day. Finally flattened and curled the ends of my hair and it looks okay, not as nice (color) as I liked but it's not bad. I honestly thought it was going to look horrible because the way my hair felt after I washed it at home. It felt like really choppy layers if that makes sense, not layers flowing from one layer to another like I used to wear it. So I came to the conclusion, paying more will not get you better looking hair. I totally would've been okay with this experience if she got back to me and cut my hair but I felt like my hair cut was incomplete and everything was rushed. They said they would give me a call the next day to check how my hair came out but I didn't get any follow-up calls and it's been a few days. A lot of talking with no action here. read more

My appointment was easy to book online...I called the day before my appointment and asked if I could come in that afternoon instead and they said "absolutely, we will see you today!" Nice ambience with new age vibe. Gave hairdresser pick of exact cut I wanted with highlights. She did highlights first with added toner, looked bright but my hair was left dry and brittle. Then she cut my hair at least 5 inches shorter than the photo I showed her which was top of shoulder length shag, which should have been just a trim. Instead I received a cut almost to my ears which was a bob, not a shag at all. She kept talking and cutting. $220. I know this is Kailua, but I at least expected a cut like I wanted.
