The host stand is inside the foyer like you're just going to a friend's house for dinner. I was surprised at how fancy it is in there! White tablecloths and low light and fancy decor. The bar looked a little more casual, but I would bank on dressing up. The tables are large, and it got a little loud in the small rooms, so it was a little difficult to have conversations. Otherwise this would be a good fancy place for a celebration. There's so much good looking stuff on the menu, but for some reason I went with a special that was stuffed shells with a sauce and toppings inspired by a croque monsier. So I made it back for another try- I had to try the pasta and chicken due to so many people ordering it around me during my last visit. Me server recommended I try a sampler of white sauce as well as the meatball...I just was that hungry snd couldn't take left overs home. I would recommend trying it that way! Came with three different cheeses, bread, olives, and some kind of olive oil for bread. Probably wouldn't order again because it was rather pricey. Bramble Berry Sour... AMAZING cocktail!!! 10/10. I got THREE and I never ever get three drinks lol. The chip. My husband liked it, but it was a little too spicy for his taste. At first it's great, but the more you eat it, the hotter it gets. Sauced is amazing and my review or pic won't do it justice. You just have to go! My colleagues had been telling me about it and I was so glad I finally tried it! The decor is simply beautiful if you like architecture and elegant/glamorous decor. The structure is like a very fancy old mansion that seems to have some original features preserved. The food is simply excellent. It's based in Italian but has it's special trusts to make it unique. I had a simple balsamic salad that was so fresh and special somehow. For my entree, I had the spicy shrimp dish with spaghetti squash instead of pasta. It was probably the best meal I've eaten out this year or longer. The sauce was perfectly seasoned with just a kick of spiciness and the perfect balance of shrimp, veggies, spaghetti squash and extra touches like capers. It was amazing. In addition, the portion was large enough for three meals so it broke my heart that I couldn't take it home due to staying in a hotel. My colleague raved about the crab cakes so we recommend those too! It was a bit pricey for Evansville but was worth it for the excellent cuisine, ambiance and service. read more

Entry - the greeter got us settled until our waiter was available. Older house is a nice setting, agree that there was enough space between tables for a private conversation. We had two appetizers - lobster stuffed mushroom and cheese tomato slices, and both were tasty. Everyone's entrees arrived to the table a while after the appetizers which was great as it gave us a chance to talk. I'm not a wine connoisseur but the Malbec wine paired with our meals well. Red and white was good w the right amount of spice. Spaghetti w marinara needed meatballs to be on par with other dishes. Peach cheesecake was a worthwhile finish. Our server was excellent- regularly watching for signals and not rushing anything. Looks like the menu changes regularly, so it a good place to explore. If in a hurry, you'd want to make that known up front but I'd take some extra time to enjoy good food and company! read more

First time here. I had the "Chip" and my wife had the shrimp scampi. The sausage on my dish was so tender. Like butter. The vodka sauce was delicious. I had some Brussel sprouts off my wife's plate. They must roast them. Best sprouts I've ever had. Food is great. The only complaints I had were the food took a little longer than expected coming out, but it gave us more time to talk. The other was the chairs. They are round and had minimal padding. After sitting there for an hour the back of my legs were killing me. Dang! And my butts numb! This is the third time we have eaten here and it becomes more average each time. The mood is too dark and the crowded dinner rooms are way to noisy. It was hard to carry on a conversation. The food was very average. The breadsticks were dense and cold. I had the Tuscan Bay, which had appropriately cooked spaghetti in a tomato cream sauce. The sauce was way too thick and was very bland. Usually over salted sauce was very under seasoned. The few scallops that were in the dish were overcooked, chewy, and disappointing. My wife had the red and white plate and she said it was just ok. Others in the dinner party were unimpressed. For a busy Friday night you might think the food to be fresher and well prepared but not this time. Sauced was the perfect night out! We were in town visiting relatives, and we opted to have dinner here rather than go to the crowded event we had originally planned for the evening. The restaurant is in an older area in a historic house. There is an upstairs area as well so there are a lot of seating options. I still highly recommend reservations, especially on the weekends as this appears to be a popular spot and one of the nicer places in Evansville. There is the Blue Bar in the back with blue lighting, and honestly I just wanted to hang out there because it looked cool! Maybe on our next visit though. We had dinner on the patio where there was an acoustic musician playing. I was initially worried about the volume level, but we could still easily have a conversation while he was playing so I was really appreciative of that. It was an unseasonably warm evening so the lack of airflow on the enclosed patio made it a little warmer than I'd like while eating a hot meal. Moving on to the food and drink. I was stoked to see that they had a cocktail on the menu made with Cardinal Spirit's Terra Gin. Terra Gin is a super creative unique gin that Cardinal Spirits makes and one of my personal favorites so I knew I had to have the Lemon Hibiscus Martini made with it. I have to say that this was without a doubt one of the most interesting and tasty martinis I've had! We shared the proscuitto platter which also had goat cheese, pecans, and currants (I think) with toast. There was also a maple glaze over it which was perfect! It's really the perfect portion for 2 people, but the 4 of us shared a bite or two of it so we didn't get full before our entrees. I ordered the shrimp scampi, and it was exactly what I wanted - garlicky, smooth, and creamy with perfectly cooked shrimp. I wish the tails hadn't been on, but I think that's likely the standard way to prepare it. My husband got the spaghetti, and there's a little cayenne in it so the marinara sauce isn't too sweet as it can tend to be. You can even order fried chicken to go along with your spaghetti which is what my sister-in-law's husband got which he loved! I'd never seen that before, but it's a great idea! We didn't have room for dessert on this visit, but I'd like to return and sample those too! I definitely recommend Sauced if you are looking for a unique place in Evansville. read more

Went here with coworkers on a Thursday night. The atmosphere and ambience were great. We made a reservation for 4:45 and were seated right away. It wasn't packed and we didn't really need a reservation, but I was glad we had one. We got the fried Brie appetizer, the prosciutto appetizer, mocktails, and a salad. We shared them. Everything was delicious! The appetizers were small but they were so good! The flavor combinations were something I've never tasted before. I ordered the stuffed chicken entree. Pricey but good. Visited Sauced for the first time tonight. In my little circle Sauced tends to have a very good reputation for great food, great service and a comfortable atmosphere. Happily, I found all of these things to be true. Hence, four stars. There was only one thing that now keeps me from awarding a fifth star: The hostess. So as my girlfriend and I entered the front door, we realized we had forgotten to bring a mask. Thankfully, the hostess provided us each with one. It seems I was too slow putting my mask on because, about 10 seconds after handing me the mask, the hostess said, "Sir, I'm going to need you to put on your mask." I was caught a bit off balance by her tone, but I assured her I would. When I hesitated, she gave me a look that seemed to say, "Well, then put it on already." Now, I understand the circumstances we are all living with and I also understand that she is doing what is required of her. I have also heard one of the employees--possibly a friend of hers--recently fell ill and, as a result, the management appears to have decided to go beyond board of health requirements. I take issue with none of these things. I am not one to hassle someone for doing their job, even if it causes me some minor inconvenience. I also can make allowance for any personal opinions on the issue at hand she may hold. Nevertheless, it is unprofessional for a lady in her position--the very first representative of this establishment I have ever met--to treat a guest in such a manner. I very nearly turned around a went somewhere else. Instead, I brushed it off and stayed for dinner, and I'm glad I did. I truly wish I could recall the name of the young woman working behind the bar who pulled double duty as our server. She was outstanding, even more so for doing two jobs superbly and simultaneously. She was awesome, and she totally turned the whole experience around for us. Because of her, I will probably recommend Sauced to friends. It seems to have rightfully earned its reputation. On a trip to Evansville to visit family this weekend we decided to try Sauced. We'd known of it for years but finally made the trip. We arrived at 5:30 on a Friday night and there was only one other party and I was a little worried that people might not be that into it, but by the time we finished our meal the place was packed. On the drinks- I'm always impressed when a place has a mezcal drink on their cocktail menu because it's few and far between. I got the 'mezcalrita' and it was pretty good! Two of the three folks in my group ordered the special which was cannelloni stuffed with cheese and braised beef with a blue cheese sauce with white peppercorns. My husband was blown away by the first bite and quickly served me up a taste. We loved the homemade breadsticks that came with each entree. The old house turned restaurant had high ceilings and faux stained glass and made for a unique ambience. Our server was really great as well. We'll definitely be making it a priority to come here on our next trip to Evansville! read more

El-oh-el. Max was the WORST waiter I've ever had. He took thirty minutes to get drinks and appetizers. We arrived at 5:15 and our food did not arrive until 6:20. I asked for a discount because the food took so long, and Max scoffed at me. We were on the way to an event, so we had to get to-go boxes. For the first time in my life, I ate cannelloni in the car. I found Sauced on Yelp after a bit of digging. I don't go for the top 5 that show up....I search. It was refreshing to see the old Victorian home renovated for this place, especially in DT where it seems revitalization is going slow. Kudos to you for taking a chance Sauced! When walking in you're immediately overcome by the ambiance of this place as well as the friendly greeting you receive from staff. Upon suggestion from Yelp I ordered the New York Sour and was NOT disappointed!! You can tell that Sauced has a mixologist...not just a bartender! It's refreshing to find an actual mixed drink created from modest ingredients and nicely whipped with egg white. Hats off to you bartender...keep up the excellent work! As for the food we ordered the Carpaccio appetizer that was thin cuts of tenderloin with horseradish sauce and pickled onions and it was absolutely perfect. That meat was cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with the onions. My BF and I were both happy with our entrees. I ordered the Stuffed Chicken Parmesan and he opted for the Casalena (spicy sausage). Both were delicious and plated beautifully. I would have liked a bit more flavor to my pasta sauce but it certainly did not take away from the dish. I'm sure you're asking if it's so great, why the 4 stars? Well the end of the meal was nothing but awkward. All the orders are taken on a mini-iPad type device which is cool. But that's how they give you your bill too. So our waitress handed us the pad, explained how to use it and then stood there waiting for us to decide our tip so we she could swipe our card right at the table. Nice in concept but didn't give us any down time and we felt pressured to tip/pay/process ASAP. It would be nice for the owners to review that process. Just a suggestion. Food was flavorful. Drinks were perfect. This place is located in an old house in what used to be a sketchy neighborhood in downtown evansville. This area has been renovated since last time I was here years ago. Anyway white and red plate was awesome. Perfect for those who want fettuccini and marinara. The chicken was amazing. They made a pesto linguini especially for one of our party which was also great. They serve their Coca-Cola in the old fashion bottles which was unique. One of our favorite dining experiences in Evansville! Atmosphere is delightful, & very comfortable. Dining rooms get a bit noisy with not much soft upholstery or soft wall adornment to absorb the sound but tolerable. The staff is always friendly & know us by name. Service is wonderful, it shows they have been trained how to give proper service. Mo is a fantastic bartender and entertaining if you have the time to enjoy a drink before dinner. The food is consistently delicious and well plated. I really appreciate the ability to have spaghetti squash as an alternative for the pasta norm.
