First time here. Referred by a friend. Service was not great the sausage was so bad and dry it feel apart like I was eating dry crumbled camp fired sausage. Just flat out bad. I just left this restaurant. One of my friends reached over his shoulder to turn the lights alittle up in the room where we were seated( we're the only ones in the room) so we could read the menu. An employee, which we found out later was a bartender, came in and turned the lights back down and told us that should use our phones as light to see! We all thought that she was rude and shared our feelings with our waitress who apologized. Had we not already ordered our appetizers, we would've left. Made reservations for Saturday night, 3/24/17. My son and I had the Spaghetti with meat sauce, it was excellent. The sauce was a little spicy, great flavor. My husband had the chicken stuffed pasta, and said it was very good. The service was good. The food did come out slow to most restaurants standards. We made reservations on the patio and they sat us at the very front right next to the live music. It was too loud if you were planning to relax, have conversation, and enjoy the food. Also, they allow smoking on the patio...this is the 21st century, not sure why they would allow smoking with a good food. read more

Never again! Came highly recommended by locals and the service was horrific. Salad and tea went well. Nice ambience albeit a bit dark. Spartan menu but a good mix. This place seems to be super popular. We had to sit in the bar because we didn't have reservations. I will say I expected the food to be much better than what we got. Overall it was nothing better than I've gotten from Olive Garden. Considering all the flys and other bugs that got into the area we were sitting from waiters leaving the patio area door open I think Olive Garden would have been a much better idea. Service was ungodly slow and the Spaghetti with meatballs was a little to spicy for my tastes. Over all not the worst dinner but I don't think I'll ever be back. read more

Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Evansville. The "Chip" entree with homemade Italian sausages is amazing.

I hate to disagree with the crowd, but I found this to be overpriced and overrated. The portions are huge and overpriced. Reduce the portions and the prices. I had the scallops and they were undercooked. The menu is very limited, making a selection difficult. The prices are fine dining, but the conference hall chairs at the tables were not. We won't go back for a second try. Uninspiring. Go to Waltons instead. Need to add more: if this has fine dining prices, why are the wait staff wearing shirts that look like they work at the baseball stadium? Adding to former reviews, awkward tipping at the table while the server watches. I appreciate them not taking my card out of my view, but at least step away while we are determining how the experience was. We are from Evansville and always appreciate new opportunities for dining out, but the ambience of this venue does not in any way make up for its deficiencies. Absolutely will not be back. read more

Went to Sauced on 1-16-2016. Reservations were for 8:30 pm. We order at 8:45 pm and our group didn't get our food until 9:55 pm. The alcoholic beverages were reasonably priced ($6 for a single crown and Coke), the 8 oz steak filet was $29 and the stuffed chicken Parmesan was $22. Not a cheap place to eat but the food was good, service was mediocre and atmosphere was business casual. I wouldn't recommend trying the chicken Alfredo because it was very bland. All in all, 3/5 stars. Points knocked for price, location (Hanies corner, which is in the ghetto yet people say "downtown") and service. read more

Walked in and got lucky that a reservation cancelled. We had an aviator salad and of of the specials for the night. The cocktails are great. The house reminded me of my favorite restaurants in Bloomington. It is in my special occasion price range but I will be back! I have returned again with a group with reservations. Everything was just as good as the last time! Our group of 6 ordered 3 appetizers for the table: Sweet Prosciutto, Fried Brie & Fritto Ricotta all were excellent a little small compared to the other portions in the restaurant but what we were expecting. Aviator Salad Entrees were huge! We could have easily split and all had plenty to take home if desired. 2 - Red & White plates - great combo! One of the best fettuccine Alfredo dishes we have had. The spaghetti sauce does have spice as others have mentioned we loved it! 1 - Fettuccine Alfredo w/ fried chicken 1 - The Chip - housemade spicy sausage was great. 2 whole sausages in the dish 1 - Linguine Crabcakes - 2 large crabcakes over a pesto linguine Huge! 1 - Cannelloni special - it was ok but very rich and a little overpowering. My wife and I dined here on a recent Saturday night around 8 p.m. This was our third trip here. We were glad to see the addition of outdoor seating. The outdoor seating area is very enjoyable and much more quiet than dining inside which tends to be very LOUD. Their interpretation of the Caesar salad was very good and fresh. We both had the shrimp pugliese. We both agreed the flavor was wonderful and portion size was just right - not the overly large portions you get at many restaurants that make you feel like you have to eat it all. However, for four large shrimp and vegetables, we felt the $25 price was a bit high. The roll that came with the dinner was very tasty, but also very heavy. Maybe a lighter roll would be better. A final note - dress code. There is a time and place for t-shirts and ball caps, but Saturday evening at a nice restaurant is not one of them. Let's encourage the owners to implement a dress code that at least requires a shirt with a collar and no hats. Ok, one more final note - the check. The server brings your check to you on an electronic tablet device. Which is fine, except the server then hovers over you while you decide what kind of tip to leave. The server won't leave the tablet with you and return later. This practice is awkward. read more

I enjoyed my experience at Sauced. The atmosphere was very nice. It is nice to eat at a place that has character instead of one of the chains that are built in strip mall parking lots over the course of a weekend. The food was very good and the service was even better. The menu is quite limited. At an Italian joint, you would most certainly expect to see calamari and/or eggplant on the menu. But surprisingly, neither was here. That is fine though, as it is always good to try something new. I agree with Cheryl's post of a few months ago. The computerized method of paying the bill at the table needs to be modified. I had the earlier review in the back of my mind when walking in. But sure enough, I saw a table of 4 next to me be put on the spot as to what they wanted to tip the server. You just had a nice meal and now your server is there asking about how much you want to tip. It is very awkward and should be changed. Chili's are doing this nationwide and even Madeleine's in Evansville is doing it this way. But the server should not stare at you as you review the bill and attempt to pay the check and tip. The same thing happened to me. Management should really take a look at this as it is a big turn off. I would go back here to Sauced for sure. read more

Our table had spaghetti w/ marinara, crab cakes and "Chip". The portions are very large. The pasta in the "Chip" was very good but the home made Italian sausage casing was stringy- that coupled with a spice used in the meat that didn't agree with my taste buds meant that most of the sausage was left behind. The crab cakes were good but the pasta that accompanied it wasn't enjoyed. The spaghetti was ok. This seems to be an upscale establishment but the servers a very casual and were t shirt with "Get sauced" on the back as if they worked at Bubba Gumps. Went on Saturday night for dinner. Service was very poor and slow. Out of 4 dishes we ordered all were sub par. The stuff chicken breast was sold out by 7 pm. I wanted to like this place, but it was not good. After complaining to the waiter, hostess, and manager, no one seemed to care in the least. Only a "we will relay your complaints to the kitchen". Overall: sauced is a gem for Evansville. Service is good but should get better as they adjust to increased seating. Food/drink is top notch. In my opinion, patio needs to be a non-smoking dining area since inside seating is limited. Food: delicious appetizers and entrees. The menu appears to be traditional Italian fare with modern twists in starters and salads. Perfectly cooked pasta or spaghetti squash for those eating gluten free. GF appetizers and bread would be a welcome addition. Creative cocktails made with high end liquors. Service: a little spotty on the night we dined. Timing of courses was off but this may have been because of opening night for new patio which resulted in significant increase in amount of seating. I do have an issue with not being able to make reservations. Downtown evansville has limited palatable dining options and to drive down there without a guaranteed table and only a small bar to wait in is a risk. Atmosphere: cool vibe inside. Good energy. Patio is lovely but smoking is permitted. Wouldn't sit there again as I vicariously smoked about 3 cigarettes during my meal. If it is a place to drink and hang out, advertise it as such. If it is a place to dine, NO smoking. Great food should not be adulterated by smoke. read more

My wife and I attended the Easter Brunch and Scott out did himself. Everything was good. We have had scrambled eggs many times before but these had a very good taste and texture. Quite possibly the worst meal I've had at a restaurant in years. The service was barely adequate. I would prefer to eat at olive garden. I *know* good food. I make good food. I eat good food. This is not good food. My best friend suggested Sauced for dinner. I was excited because I hadn't been (I moved out of town just as the Haynies Corner revival kicked off). The atmosphere is cute - a bit pretentious, but whatever. I was immediately disappointed when we were seated and I got a look at the food menu. None of the descriptions sounded interesting, more like a passing attempt at southern and Italian fusion, but not really having a strong point of view on how to accomplish that. Fried chicken and spaghetti with marinara? Sriracha with shrimp pugliese? But given how popular the place has been, I thought perhaps the execution was better than the description. We had the caprese salad to start. It was fine, though the mozzarella was a little dry and the dish needed a touch of salt. My friend ordered the aforementioned spaghetti and chicken. I ordered the shrimp pugliese. Now I make this dish, the traditional dish as Marcella Hazan would. What was served to me was the biggest *@#$ mess I've ever seen in a plate. It looked like the kitchen slopped it on a plate. Sauce was everywhere. The side squash was woefully over cooked, the pasta ribbons were very underdone (not al dente, because it was fresh pasta, it needed to be cooked longer), the sauce was an over homogenized mess that had entirely too much salt, was too sweet, lacked any of the Sriracha flavor. The shrimp was nearly over cooked. The only edible thing on my plate was the bread stick. I will not be back. read more

TLDR; Deserves your attentiom. Try it. (Could be expensive for your tastes) This restauarant is new a different (for Evansville). The atmosphere and the building clash beautifully with the 19th century architecture mixed with a modern folk/artsy vibe of the furniture and wall art. I ordered the seasonal ravioli (Southern Comfort) which was a delightfully flavorful and rich pasta that filled me up for $17. I also tried their take on the gin fizz. Everything was good, nothing was stelar. I walked in to a sign that said wait to be seated, I waited, and waited, saw a waitress I kmew from another job, waited some more. Twice I was told that someone would get the hostess for me. After about 10 minutes (without anyone in the waiting area) I was seated after inquiring about bar seating. Other than that, the service was great, and i was perfectly happy with the experience. I will continue to come back to see how this place is doing. read more
