Lots of fun and our guide, Paul, gave us a lot of information about the dunes and the history of the old lumber town of Singapore that is buried under the dunes. We saw a deer while we were riding along. Definitely recommend if you haven't been on a dune ride before. The views are scenic and in some spots you can see to Lake Michigan from the dunes. I spend almost every weekend in Sagautuck with family in the summer. This has been on our list of "tourist" things to do and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend. Great time. There is stopping points along the way and even one where you can get out to take pictures. Such a fun activity!! And very scenic. An easy way to experience the sand dunes in Saugatuck without doing a tiring dune climb :). Getting tickets online in advance was simple, and the location was easy to find on Google maps. Was easy to check in and they seemed to have a very organized system of getting people into vehicles and on their way for the tours. The ride itself took us through and around dunes, through a forested area, and had a stop where we got out for a nice viewpoint and photos. Our driver was fun, told interesting stories about the dunes and surrounding area, and the experience was full of humor. One joke I won't spoil/give away... pranked my mom SO bad lol. Nearly gave her a heart attack in the moment but we both had a good laugh about it after the fact. Bring cash to tip! read more

My cousin was able to secure a boat ride from a cancellation on Sunday or a 5:10 PM tour. All 16 of us arrived and had a blast. Our tour guide driver was Austin and he was corny and fun. Just what you would hope that it would be. And most importantly he was a good driver unfortunately it did rain sporadically, and we did get pelted. It did make for a cooler, wet and memorable ride. Since it was raining, we did not stop and get off of the dune buggy at the designated area where we could walk around and go down the dunes for 5 to 10 minutes. We did all enjoy it so much that we said that we would do it again. read more

We utilized 3 buggies for our group - the guides are very knowledgeable about the area and the dune system, sneaking in some 'dad' jokes to keep it interesting. This was a fantastic experience--one of my favorite activities on our girls week trip to Michigan! I was not expecting the experience we had! The fun trucks let you pile in with all of your friends on the bench seats. The ride, while fast and exciting at times with some bounces, was quite smooth in the sand. The fun of rounding the curves and climbing and dipping down the dunes with the wind in your hair made this just the most fun! Our guide, Nate, was wonderful and super knowledgeable (and quite funny). He would stop at various points and explain different history, the natural aspect of the movement and decline of the dunes and how it was replenished and protected, explained what dead dunes are and so much more. We had time to get out at the top to hike around for a few minutes, take a group photo with the lake in the back and to enjoy the view. The price for this experience was also very affordable for the experience you get and you can book as individuals, couples or small groups and they just place you into ride groups. Also, learning this type of dune ride is only located in one other part of Michigan further away made this extra special. Highly recommend! read more

Our family had a blast! Michael was a great driver and guide. We had family from age 8 to 70 on our ride and everyone had so much fun. The buggies get some speed going and it can be bumpy at times so if you get motion sickness, I recommend some Dramamine before your ride. We not only had fun flying through the dunes we had a great history lesson about the area and how the dunes came to be. I would absolutely come back and take another ride if I find myself over here in the future. read more

Always an amazing time! Today was probably our 6th year in a row going on the Dune Ride. It is informative and fun with beautiful views. All the drivers we have had have been wonderful. Girl's weekend always involves a little bit of adventure. Our choice this time was the dune rides. On their website it said most the rides were booked so we headed to the place to check it out and see if that was actually the case - which it wasn't. We got there about 10 am (at opening) and signed up for the ride at 11:20. The wait time went quickly and everything was well organized. In terms of the ride, each buggy holds about 18 people. The experience itself is a combination of thrill ride and history. There is also a short period of time to get out of the buggy to take some photos. I really enjoyed the dune buggy ride. I liked that the trails were surrounded by shrubbery and the ride involved time in the woods. I kinda felt like I was in a rain forest as the temps cooled and it had that damp feeling. I'm sure some people enjoy the history behind the dunes but I liked the ride better and would have enjoyed it more without that part. The ride could have been longer too - at least an hour. I would recommend this experience to people of all ages. It was my favorite part of our weekend. read more

Typically I don't write reviews... unless there is an overriding reason and yesterday we experienced it! The ride was a 'bucket of fun' but our driver (Paul) was the icing on the cake. The way this place operates I suspect all their drivers might be as entertaining as Paul was. Excellent knowledge of Saugatuck's history and ecology made the trip a real winner and we will be back again for sure. Super fun ride and we learned a lot about the dunes too. It's a well oiled machine to stagger the tours and it works well. Our guide was charming and knowledgeable. I will be sore in my calves for days after climbing up a dune after sliding down. You can book tickets online the night before which I highly recommend. Easy peasy. " WTF?" We left. We finally got reservations despite their arcane process. 7/17/2018 Update; Nate, our driver/Tour Guide extraordinar, provided an outstanding experience! An excellent, skilled driver. Knowledgeable about the local history. The dunes and environmental issues. Care and management of the dunes. He presented the whole ride experience as no one else could. He engaged the younger children in the group regarding the environmental issues. As Nate reminded us to, "look around", not just the tendency to look straight ahead. The scenery is absolutely amazing the entire 40 minutes. All in all be sure to take a dune ride. It it's a memorable experience. Who knows how long you might be able to do this. read more
