I am giving two stars to encourage…read morethe owners/managers/staff to be more forthcoming about the extremely hazard conditions presented at the end of the float. After our fun, relaxing trip my grandson, and I saw what we had been told to watch for when it's time to disembark. What wasn't communicated was that you will have ZERO way to steer or maneuver your tubes LEFT toward the boat launch / pickup point. * as an older woman - never floated before, I and my grandson were put in a dangerous situation when the SUPER STRONG CURRENT took us past the point where we were told to get out. The shallow, gentle river ends right where you need to be able to control or "drive the tube" to the left riverbank. We were in the middle attempting to go left when the crazy fast current grabbed our tubes and shot us out to the rough, deep water. If it hadn't been for some very brave and kind river visitors, our day might have ended very differently. One person attempted to swim to us and couldn't make it again, due to the current being so strong. I had to make the decision to jump out of my tube, hoisting one arm around it, swim while pulling the three tubes containing our cooler in one, my young grandson in the other toward the rocky shore past the exit point. Swimming against that river current released adrenaline you read about - when people lift cars off people! There is ZERO way I am strong enough or a good enough swimmer to do what I did. Two women in kayaks (angels really ) rowed to us. If they had not been there.... Right when they were I'm afraid to think what might have happened. One of them allowed me to lean on their kayak to rest. We finally were able to exit the river on someone's private property and walk back to the pickup vehicle. While one of them hauled our tubes back to the launch with their kayak. Please know that the exit point is treacherous on the 2.5 hour float. If you are not experienced, if you are not a strong swimmer - BRING A PADDLE - so you have some control of the tube when you need it. I MAY NEVER FLOAT AGAIN. but if I do, I now know the questions to ask and what to bring with me. The lady at the desk and the young man who picked us up were both very friendly. While she did impart the importance of where we needed exit the river, a stern warning to FIRST TIMERS, or older folks about the danger that lies ahead and a complete inability to "steer left" is absolutely warranted! Please be safe out there! * in response to the owners response; it absolutely has happened before. The three women who assisted us told me "always bring a paddle when tubing or, rent a kayak, so you have some control". Quite possible it has never happened to a writer before. I write - so an honest review to help others be safe felt necessary.

The kids had a blast tubing and it was a major bonus that the dogs got to come along for the fun, too! The boat was huge and in pristine condition. When we returned with a kid with a broken wrist (through no fault of the boat company or anything like that) they were so compassionate. They helped us unload the boat, told us not to worry about anything and to go take care of our son. Wonderful company, can't recommend them enough! Having a non-racist name would be an excellent change. Spending a summer day floating down the White River has become an annual tradition for a small group of friends and this business makes it easy. The phones and front desk is managed by a bunch of teenagers who sometimes provide spotty service, but we've learned to keep our expectations low in that regard. This Canoe Livery is perfect on the essentials, though. We like the variety of tube styles (some have a bottom for those chilly early summer days, some have a cup holder, some are kid sized). The way the process works is you pay a fee to rent your tube, then they will bus you to a drop off point. You float down the river for 2-3 hours, enjoying sunshine, cool water and forest views. You will then reach a landing (which is also the place you departed from). It's obvious and impossible to miss. We recommend a cooler for your favorite beverages and a dry bag to keep your important items safe. The front desk will hold your keys while you float, which isn't a bad idea. We've seen people lose their keys on the river before. In these times when many of us are looking for more outdoor activities, a river float is one of our favorites. This canoe livery does a great job of making the process smooth and simple!

This is definitely a family friendly activity. They have horses of all sizes, even for younger children. You can also pay 50 cents for a cup of treats to give your horse at the end of your ride :) The scenery winds through fields and wooded trails. We saw so many deer and a very big buck! Such a great way to unplug and get out in nature. They also have restrooms to use. Highly recommend this family farm for horseback riding! The wranglers do work for tips so bring cash to tip!

So needed less to say, that other place "Great Lakes guides service" sucks... Wouldn't give them the time of day even if they paid us. Anyway, Captain art was not only lay back and super helpful, but he went above and beyond and took us out on a VERY VERY short notice. His boat is really nice and SUPER clean and also quick! We managed to catch 4 nice sized salmon weighing about 25lbs of edible meat! :-) yum! I want to thank captain art for being so cool and helpful and such a good person over all. We caught 4 HUGE salmon and based off the radio chatter, we were the only boat who caught anything that afternoon. He went above and beyond in all respects getting 9 rods setup with a variety of strategies to give us the best chance, he had sun screen for us silly people who forgot it, and a great attitude, very positive, friendly, and knowledgeable. If you are heading out for a trip in the Muskegon area you should look no further. Captain Art will exceed all expectations. Full story: if you really want to understand how awesome Captain Art is, keep reading. I had scheduled a trip for my fiancée's birthday as the surprise main event. I planned the hotel and restaurant around the trip in Muskegon. I had a reservation with Great Lakes Guide Service. They originally had us on Muskegon River, which I found out later was way too early in the year for river fishing... anyway, they were going to call a few days before the trip to confirm. 2 days before the trip, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called them back. They didn't answer, so I left a message. I got an email later saying that the river trip wasn't going to work and asked if we would consider a lake trip. I said sure if we could confirm cost and where we would meet for that trip. I never heard back. So I emailed again, no response. And a third time the day before our scheduled trip (we had already driven 3 hrs for the fishing trip) with still no response. I called 3 times that day and never got an answer. At this point fearing my surprise trip would fall on its face, I called Captain Art. He answered IMMEDIATELY and heard the situation Great Lakes Guide Service had got me into. The day before we wanted to go out Captain Art said he would take us personally in the afternoon. Relief!!! He even left his granddaughter's birthday early to take us out. Unbelievable commitment, customer service, and flexibility. Great Lakes Guide Service also didn't mention to bring a cooler, so Captain Art took his time to fillet the salmon small enough we could take them in Styrofoam ones. He even taught us how to store them. 4 HUGE fish, a wonderful afternoon on a beautiful boat, the only boat catching fish, Captain Art will find you fish . Best charter in the area, hands down.
