Family fun! We went before dinner and had NO wait for a ride. We hopped on and the fun began! Fast turns, high speeds, and great views are all a part of the ride. This was not at all what we expected. When I had booked the dune ride I assumed it was going to be a nice ride through the dunes. As soon as we left the port, our driver hit the gas and we were off. It was like a rollercoaster ride except without the tracks. Our driver was hilarious and the tour included stops along the way for history about the area. Great We go to Saugatuck every year and this must do. The ride is fast and fun and the drivers stop at various points to share some of the local history, which is very interesting. The view from the top of the highest dune is remarkable, especially around Columbus Day when the valley is usually in full Fall colors. If you're thinking about it, just do it. A great time! We've gone for years to the Mac Woods ride up by Hart, and we enjoyed this one more. Faster, more of a thrill ride, while still offering some interesting local info and natural history. They also sell you tickets for a specific time, so you can go eat, shop, whatever if there's a wait. The view from 'up top,' of Mt. Baldhead and Lake Michigan, is truly spectacular. We had a flat tire up there, and they had a rescue vehicle up there in ten minutes with power tools to get us going; what could have been a drag was actually a fun extra adventure. The guy who fixed our tire was just as cool as our guide; these folks like each other and their work, and they know how to share the fun. Highly recommended! read more

We've been visiting the area for 4 years and finally took a dune ride when we felt our kiddos were old enough. What a blast! Not only was it fun, but we learned about the Singapore / Sagatuck history and fun facts that we didn't know before. Very cute, old time style tourist activity. The employees continue to be enthusiastic about their work many years into their endeavor. Knowing that normally dunes should be left alone and motor vehicles aren't the best environmental additions, I was skeptical that the Dune Rides could be a good thing. They are, though. Well done.....start to finish! Hard to find a family activity that is really fun for everyone, but this checks the box. Our four year old loved it, and it was also exciting enough to hold the interest of our 'hard to impress' eight year old. (Mom and Dad had fun as well.) I second Maria S and Cori C in saying that the ride though the dunes was like a roller coaster: fast, a little scary, but loads of fun! Our driver was equipped with lots of corny jokes and gave us some insight into the history of how the dunes developed and evolved over time. It felt so exciting and carefree to zip through sand dunes at high speeds on an open-air jeep-type vehicle. It was definitely worth the $17.00 per person fee. It also offered a few great pictures-taking opportunities when we stopped near the top of the dunes. It also felt good to support a business which has apparently been family-owned since the mid-1950s. This is an experience unique to Saugatuck, so don't miss it if you visit the area! read more

After riding the Mac Woods dune ride near Ludington last year, we finally made it to Saugatuck. I was expecting more of the same but our driver John really made the ride fun and funny! Lots of dune and sand related jokes which were delightfully cheesy. I like that we went through the wooded ( shaded) areas to cool off, and then John would gun it down the dunes making for an exhilarating ride. The gift shop and cafe area is clean, clean bathrooms are a plus. Very kid friendly, and good for the family. Most fun you can have away from the beach. read more

Absolutely fantastic! I had no idea what to expect, but this was a phenomenal experience. We were traveling with four boys between the ages of 16-20 (a tough crowd), and they loved every minute of it. Our driver/guide Joey was friendly and informative. The dunes were gorgeous. I was skeptical at first, as my idea of exploring the dunes included a four wheeler with a few hours to kill. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was fun and exciting for children as small as 5 and adults as old as 70. Even a number of college students were on the tour and loved it. Great fun for all ages! Get there early to get a spot! Takes 40 minutes. If you're in the area, this should be at the top of your to-do list. read more

We were super excited to take the dune ride. We pulled in at 3:00 pm and they were sold out already for the night. The girl said they were already sold out at 2:30 that day. So we went online and purchased our tickets for the next day. Thankfully there were 5 slots available on the 7:00 pm ride. We got there 15 min early, signed the waiver and it was time to go. The ride was a blast, we stopped at a beautiful lookout point to take pictures. Our driver Mike was funny. He had a lot of rehearsed lines, and they fit. It was definitely scary at times with the dune buggy truck coming very close to the sides of the cliff. Good thing we trusted our driver Mike! read more
