Dr. Mendelsohn has been in practice for over 50 years. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. He has great equipment so that he can give the best exam to his patients. He offers contact lenses, frames, sunglasses and designer frames too. His staff is very experienced as well. Many of their patients come back generation after generation. Dr. Mendelsohn is a great doctors and so is his team of doctors and optical team. I would highly recommend them! read more

If you want a very & I mean very mediocre optometry office this place is for you. Myself & children have gone here for many years. This year I was like... we are moving on for numerous reasons. The staff is SO bland. Personalities are like Do Not Bother Me. Never seen the same Dr twice. A few years ago my daughter was given the wrong pair of glasses. She wore them for a week and complained the entire time. Took them back and they were pretty much like "ooppss". No apology... nothing. Like a dummy I kept going to them. This year we tried a new optometrist. Come to find out my daughters prescription is off & she has been wearing a slightly off prescription for many years. That's lovely. & not one time from the numerous Drs she has seen at this office... none of them caught that? Amazing! Go here if you'd like... but there is definitely much better available. read more

This is the funniest office. Dr.Alan Kirsch really takes care of my needs. A really great doctor. Help me pick out my contact lenses. Went over all my needs and questions. If he left I will follow him to Tenbucktoo he's that great. Never had a eye doctor this great. Class act. Cynthia really took the time to put in my order so I can get it faster. She went over the information with me. I felt really spoiled when I left their office. Will recommend to everyone. They made my day brighter. read more

I had mine and my daughters eye exam here, some of the girls were friendly, some not so much, but the lady who helped my daughter and I was very nice very helpful. This is my daughter first time getting glasses she is 5 years old, so it was a huge step for her. The lady was very nice and told her she looked very cute. Made her feel comfortable my daughter absolutely loves her glasses. read more

Victor does an awesome job, I've been really picky about my frames and he's been really patient and great, making sure I have the frames I am most comfortable with. Good service getting checked in. I needed contacts and a usual eye exam. I got in the exam room and Dr. Mendelsohn asked me a few question then said I did not communicate. I responded to his question 3 times and then he called me an "contact lenses abuser." I didn't understand what was going on until he called another lady in to then which he concluded he will not be seeing me.. visit dr. Mendelsohn if you want contacts or just to be maltreated as a patient. Being called un communicative is not how you should treat patients :) won't be coming back. read more

Staff was unable to provide me with trial contact lenses after charging me a contact lens fitting fee. Over three weeks ago I was told my glasses would arrive in about a week. I was charged for services they did not make good on. I am very very disappointed and considering LASIK eye surgery to avoid having to go back here. read more

I'm new to the visalia area and my coworker referred me to this optometrist. I called and was able to schedule an appointment the next day! That is amazing upon arrival the staff was very friendly and worked well my insurance. During the exam I felt like I was treated very well. I got my prescription and ordered new glasses for a low price. I will definitely come back. read more

We arrived on time to be greater by rude receptionists. We waited one hour to be taken into an exam room. Waited another 15 min to be seen by Dr. During the exam Dr. had my 13 year old in years . He was so hateful to her. Then he left the room and left us to wait another 20 min. I believe the Dr. has lost his patients and should be nicer. I will not be back, and do not recommend this place to anyone. Start to finish my visit took 2 hours. Disappointing! read more

I've been coming here for five or so years. They have a nice selection but if you don't find anything you like they can order a pair online for you. Most of the receptionists are very nice and patient. There's one or two that don't seem to want to be bothered so I don't bother them (one star off). Make sure to be about 15 minutes early for your appt. because you'll have to fill out some forms. read more

No waiting, nice staff, angry doc. I was not happy with new recruits exam. I called and was rescheduled for Dr. Mendelsohn. He refused to see me and said the machine determined the correct prescription for me. I said the doctor determines the rx. I called another Optometrist and they said the machine gets you in the ball park and the doctor fine tunes the rx. Stay away from new recruit. Had exam and purchased glasses about 3 years ago and they did not work and were around 300 dollars. Total rip off. Nothing they would do to fix. Went to stanton optical a few months back and for 125 bucks I got perfect glasses! Whee! read more

I was recommended by a friend to this office because they take VSP insurance. I made my appointment they got me in fairly quickly. When I went to my appointment the front desk girls were very friendly. When it came to picking out glasses the girl who apparently does the sales took forever to come out and help me. The doctor had to look for her. She finally walked out from the back and just came to the counter and pointed to a small selection of glasses and said "these are completely covered by your insurance." She then proceeded to say "I'll be right out there, just looking over your insurance." She then disappeared into the back. She finally came out to help me a few mins later. The glasses that were apparently completely covered were cheap looking and not of quality. I began looking around for something else. I found a pair of glasses. When it came to checking out, she seemed like she was in a hurry to get back to whatever she was doing, because she never asked what I wanted on my glasses. I felt like I had to ask for all the add on's. I felt like she was not professional and cared more about everything else that was going on in the office than helping her patient's. This one person made my experience there feel unwelcome and that I did not matter. Not sure that I will be returning or recommending anyone to this office. All because of one staff member. read more

Did a previous search of best optometrists in my local area and Saul Mendelsohn"s office had good reviews. Dr visit was fine. Went back three times though as they had me trying different multifocal lenses and to get my eyes dilated. With my new prescriptions, I tried to find out how much my glasses would be on different websites before selecting a final company that met all my needs. When reviewing my RX with a Lenscrafters sales person, she commented on how my new RX was so far off from my old RX. I contacted Mendelsohn's office and they said they made a "mistake" when inputting my prescription from the dr. Thank God I didn't order glasses with the wrong script and end up paying for something I couldn't see out of! Next, ordered my contact lenses with the new RX. Put them in my eyes this morning and I can't see out of my right eye at all! Called Mendelsohn's office and again it was "human error" inputting the doctors script into the computer? So now I have to wait for my new contact lenses as I have to mail back the wrong ones to the company I purchased them from and then wait while they send out the new ones to me. I will be looking for a new optometrist next year. They need better trained staff, ones that are more conscientious about getting the exact prescriptions correct. read more
