The botanical gardens were a nice easy place to visit when I didn't want to go back to the downtown area again. They have free parking and entrance to the gardens, and they are pet friendly. This is exactly the type of place I was looking for. The gardens themselves are smaller than other gardens I have visited. The main attraction for me was the additional trails you could walk along. The trails helped make the trip a little longer and more worthwhile. This is a nice relaxing stop if looking for something more low-key and quiet. read more

My 2nd visit to this beautiful small neighborhood garden. Its taken care of so professionally & its usually not crowded, I think because people may not know its there. A wonderful walk thru of pretty blooms, a pond, and a small children's garden, so they have the whole family covered. My only comment is that on line it says free, but when u get there it says $5/adult. Just leave a donation, people are volunteering their services to provide a beautiful space, the least we can do is put money in the box. Come see for yourself read more

Nothing too grand but I had a little time to kill and this provided a peaceful little stroll. The name makes it seem like it would be something more than a cute little community garden but it is what it is. Fortunately, it's donation so you can make the call on how much a walk through the grounds is worth to you. I wouldn't go out of my way for this one. Gorgeous garden's to walk through. I went there with my 2 year old grandson and he loved it. They even have a children's garden. With a sand table and toys to play with. There are lots of flowers to smell and look at. There is a small pound with a fountain. A friend of mine has taken pictures of a wedding under the gazebo located beside the pond. No one ever says "come to Savannah for the botanical gardens", but I dug this up and thought I'd explore when other options fell through. The place is smaller than it looks on the map, and is on a highway adjoining a hospice and across the street from the health department. Despite the area not having a true winter, most of the plants were not in bloom when I visited, though there were a few pretty exceptions. No water fountains or bathroom facilities graced the park, and the mansion at its entrance offered no entry during the evening hours. I'm sure it's a nice event venue and I'm all for horticulture, but my realistic assessment is that I probably spent less time perusing the place than I did driving from downtown, and it's not that far from downtown. The old city is already lined with trees and some of the mansions have nice gardens, so from a tourist perspective, I wouldn't bother searching out the botanical gardens as a place to walk or see sights. read more

The farmhouse on properly is closed, so no, you cannot visit it. Sadly, there's nothing else to do here, besides taking a 5-10 minute walk around the premises. This botanic garden is tiny, so I would not recommend wasting time and gas on a drive here. Barely any vegetation to see. Tiny, tiny patch of greenery that somehow got a fancy name of a "botanic garden". No restrooms or any plumbing facilities on premises. If you gota go, use the lush vegetation all around you. DO NOT BOOK YOUR WEDDING HERE. We were supposed to have our wedding here back in May. My (now) husband and I visited this place on a weekly basis for planning, and just spending time with each other. We picked the Savannah Botanical Garden in October 2024 and signed the contract. We agreed on having the ceremony in the Gazebo and the Toast (after the ceremony) around the circle (Rose garden). I, the day before wedding, May 24, 2025, We showed up at the Garden for our Rehearsal. They had completely dug up the irrigation system. Caution tape and mounds of dirt was now where there was flowers only a week before. We did not end up having our wedding here. After my honeymoon, I contacted the woman who was in charge of weddings, she was in Nashville and said she would call me back. I never heard a response. I called back, was informed that she was fired. I told them my issue and their response was that they had "Benchmarks" every month that they meet and they do work on their garden. They also mentioned that there was a wedding coming up this year in October (I hope they know about that). We were NOT INFORMED about these "Benchmarks". If I knew that, we would have never signed the contract. Nor does anywhere on the contract, states anything about Benchmarks and construction. In the end, I yelled at on the phone, by a woman, who was apparently the head of their committee, and was told that I wasn't going to get my money back. And was hung up on. Zero remorse. This is a genuine message to anyone who is looking for their venue for their special day. The whole process is hard enough! Buyers Beware. Don't get yourself caught up with these shady people. There's a lot of other beautiful places! We ended up getting married at Bowtie BBQ and still had the best day of our lives. So, they can not take that happiness away. I thought over and over again about writing a post, I myself am in the wedding industry, so I know how harming it can be to the business. It's the smallest botanical garden I've been to but it's certainly maintained by love. Donations accepted. It was interesting how you are surrounded by the gardener's efforts. There are plantings around the parking lot, and beyond where you think the garden ends. I wonder if someone is in charge of purchasing the garden embellishments like signs, fake animals and painted rocks, or if folks donate them. read more

The best part about these gardens is that it is quiet and free. There are lots of places to wander around. It is not like other botanical gardens I've been to. It looks more like someone's yard but it was very well kept. The roses were not out yet. I bet it will look awesome in the fall. There are some pond-like areas and a fountain. I got bitten by at least five bugs. I didn't feel it when I was getting bitten but they itched like hell after I did get bitten. Would not recommend shorts or sandals. I also stepped in some wet ground (mud) when I tried to smell the roses in the Fragrant Rose section. The Farmhouse was closed when I went. That's ok. I wanted to see the gardens. I think it is a really peaceful space but watch out for the bugs and mud! read more

We came by here a couple weeks ago looking for Christmas lights. This Botanical garden is underwhelming, but it is free. There is a cute little colonial style building you can go into during their open hours. When we went it was closed and I didn't really see any flowers blooming. read more

Savannah Botanical Garden (SBG) is owned and operated by Savannah Area Council of Garden Clubs, Inc. I feel like it's a hidden spot and locals often forget that it's there. It's a small garden as compared to, let's say, the Coastal Georgia Botanical Garden, but it has quite a diverse number of flowers and plants in different sections, that it shouldn't be overlooked. What's incredible is that the garden is run entirely by volunteers and they do a wonderful job of maintaining it for all of us to enjoy. I've been here quite a number of times in different seasons and it always bring me joy to see all the different flowers in full bloom. - Parking - Private lot. - Features - There are 22 sections, refer to my photo of the map in my photos, however these are my some of the highlights in my opinion: 1. 1840's Reinhard Farmhouse - if you're lucky, a volunteer will be around and they'll let you can take a peek inside. It's a beautiful, 2-story house. There's a library upstairs that I thought was pretty cool. I noticed they do weddings there, so there's a cool venue idea for you, engaged folks, for the future in a post-pandemic world. Great view of the garden from upstairs window too! There's a nice stone bench in the garden right in front of the house and it serves as a great photo op. 4. Vegetable Garden - great learning area for kids, to show them how veggies are grown. 8. Rose Garden & Fountain - the centerpiece of the garden. Really pretty. 11. Fragrance Rose Garden - I love roses, so it's no surprise I love this section. They've planted quite a variety and I believe they do a specific event every year just for them. 16. The Compassionate Friends Savannah Memorial - This is a great little section with 3 large Butterfly chairs and statues of angels. Great photo op and great for kids! 19 - Children's Garden - the only downer of this section is that it's right next to the road, across the street from a shop that repairs cop cars, but they've planted different plants according to a theme. For instance, tomatoes in the "Pizza" Garden and they also built a "Flower Bed". There are plenty of things in the garden here for the kids to explore and my kids always enjoy it. 22. Camellia & Azalea Garden - this is especially pretty in the Spring when the Azaleas are in full bloom. On our first visit, this section was in full bloom and it was absolutely gorgeous! The garden is laid out with a main walkway going all the way straight to the back, but there are small little paths off the main path for you and (your kids, if any) to walk and explore. - Pricing - Free admission, however, there is a donation box as you enter and I'm sure any amount is appreciated! - Service - On one of our visits, there were several volunteers during our visit and they were all so nice. One of the volunteers was very knowledgeable and told us the names of a few plants we inquired about. Like I said, they do a great job at maintaining the garden. Thank you for all you do, dear Volunteers! COVID-19 Update: Since there is no admission fee and there are no gates, I don't think it was ever closed during this pandemic, to my knowledge. I checked their Facebook page prior to visiting and there was no indication that it was closed or ever closed. Since we are quickly approaching the summer temps (it's not even June yet...waaaah), this was a great spot to enjoy the gifts of Mother Nature (and the volunteers of the SBG) quickly, first thing in the morning before the sun was on full blast. You will be able to practice social distancing as well, because, most of the time, you will have the gardens to yourself! read more

We made a quick stop here as we were leaving Savannah. I think I found this attraction on Bring Fido since I was looking for pet friendly activities as we were traveling with our small dog. We visited in the middle of March, so not a lot was blooming. I bet that this is a lovely spot when the gardens are in full bloom though. The Camelia and Azalea garden was so nice and colorful. Glad we had the chance to see that. We also spotted a few roses. They have the main garden, but also a small one for children. I'd budget anywhere from 15-30 minutes to spend here. This is a free attraction, but they do accept donations. Definitely a nice, romantic and serene spot. read more

Small, free, dog friendly gardens. Attractive garden beds, nice flat paths. My husband, and I and our golden retriever visited the gardens this morning, 2/15/24. Little early for most blooming plants, but quiet, peaceful and nice setting. Three volunteer workers were working today and two other couples were there when we were. We spent about 45 minutes walking around. (Dogs must be on a leash and well behaved.) Nice benches throughout. There was a woman seated writing or drawing. The house was not open today. read more

Great little spot for a quick walkabout. An out-of-towner we were hosting really wanted to come here. She volunteers at a botanical garden in FL. The house has an intriguing history, having been moved to this location in the 1990s. Ask Betty Ann King if you see her; she's very friendly! The gardens have lots of little books though overall small. It's a great place to try out your photography skills. Next time: we might bring a picnic to enjoy at one of the outdoor tables. read more

I try to go to botanic gardens every time I visit a new city. This isn't really a botanic garden it's just a nice back yard, and even saying that, it needs dead heading, pruning, and fertilizing as well as more plantings. No outdoor washroom exists so if the house is closed your options are not good. I was curious about a couple of plants but there were few markers. A hospice is located next door and I'm certain this area is therapeutic for those people. If you are in the area stop by and there are pleasant benches to sit, but if you make a special trip you will be disappointed. read more

This garden is excellent for an hour or two self guided tour. We came across several volunteers working with the plants that were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the garden. Yes, some of the displays and walkways needed attention but none of them were overtaken with weeds, and if you've ever had a garden you know "weed free" is not realistic. We were here in early August (HOT) and the roses were already spent but there were many many other plants that were still blooming and beautiful. The girls loved the children's garden and now I have to go home and make a flower "bed". Pretty cute. The admission is free but be sure to donate what you can. Plant material and fertilizer ain't cheap. read more

Nice way to spend an hour. My husband and I went for a date to wander through the gardens and snap photos. The main area is fairly small but is full of tended garden beds and quaint landscaping. Beautiful flowers and a nice variety of plants and blooms. For me, the real star was the new children's garden: so whimsical, fun, and thoughtfully done. They've really thought about how to engage kids in gardening and plants. There's a "touch and smell" bed for kids to get hands-on with the plants. There was also a "pizza garden" with bell peppers, chilies, tomatoes, and basil. While the gardens are free, there's a donation box if you find your visit worthwhile. Go for a stroll with a date, or take the kids for some family time. read more

While the gardens itself are full of beautiful fragrant roses, there is little more to be enjoyed at this small gardens. My friend and I decided to venture into the woods past the fountain to find the amphitheater, and boy was that a bad idea!!! The first part of the trail lead us to this strange old glass "archeological" site, which seems to be just a bunch of old broken glass. A little bit past that we ran into some large spider webs, complete with large spiders and a snake. At that point we could go no further and turned back. To put it simply, don't go on the trail!!! My husband, son (2.5 years), and I visited here on our trip to Savannah. It was a Sunday morning, so there wasn't anything else to do. We were pleasantly surprised! We spent about an hour just wandering around. The fragrant roses were great! The whole space was great. We also went "off road" onto a trail. Walking through the woods was very relaxing. We saw a GIANT spider, maybe the biggest one I've ever seen in person, outside. No joke! It was really cool. My husband and I just recently got married and we chose the Savannah Botanical Gardens as our venue for the ceremony and the reception. We were over the top pleased by our choice! The gardens are absolutely beautiful all year long. We got married on November 9th and we were worried about not having any blooms but luckily, there were tons of roses blooming! We also just loved the garden's wedding coordinator, Betty Ward. She was so helpful in going over every detail that we needed to know and offering up any supplies that they already have there that we could use. And she was always willing to meet with us at anytime to go over the details. If you are looking for a beautiful, outdoor venue to get married, check out the Botanical Gardens. They are a non-profit organization so any monies you pay to rent the gardens go into the care and maintenance of the grounds. This spot truly is a hidden treasure in Savannah! read more
