This is the location for many tour meet ups and the history museum in inside this building as well. If you're looking for info on Savannah, this is the place to go. They also have a gift shop in here.

Step into to Savannah city where you can look at a brief history of original historical items from the city. Informative and amazing. Location- 301 Martin Luther King Blvd Savannah GA 31401 Inside you'll see a shop filled with cute Savannah trinkets and souvenirs also a mini museum of actual historical Savannah history. See how the colonial olden days were and how the Savannah family got its name. The Savannah family quilts, house decor pieces, and even the horse carriage buggies. Also you can see the original soldier uniforms over the years and even a part of a train that once was, also you can see the original bench from the movie forest hump and the famous suitcase in the movie. The only downfall was the price of the mini museum was a bit expensive but overall it was definitely something to see once in a lifetime.

The home of the Savannah Visitor Center was originally the passenger terminal of the Central of Georgia Railroad. You'll notice several old railroad cars at one end of the building. Helpful tips when coming here: * You can purchase parking passes here, called Daypass: $24 for 2 days and $15 for a single day. *. A variety of tours depart from the visitor center, for example: Freedom Trail Tours, Hearse Ghost Tours, Black History Tour, Savannah Movie Tour (many movies have been filmed in Savannah), Bonaventure Cemetery Tour, and plenty more!, *. You'll find plenty of helpful information regarding restaurants, hotels, nearby beaches, maps, etc. Additionally at the two gift shops you can find: * Regional and locally made cookies, preserves, honey, grits, products. * Spartina handbags made just over the Savannah River in Daufuskie, SC. *. Totes, crossbody purses *. Scarves *. T- shirts *. Local guidebooks, cookbooks, historical information books (Gullah history, southern history) *. Christmas ornaments * hats, baseball hats, sun hats Enjoy your stay in Savannah, GA!

Definitely a must stop spot when you visit Savannah, and you have never been. It will look like you have to pay for parking, but I don't think you have to if it's less than an hour. Here you will find a bunch of pamphlets for tours, restaurants, places to visit, etc. There are tour trolleys parked here too to catch. There is a museum here as well if you want to check it out. It's a helpful fun spot to see what Savannah all has to offer, and that is a lot Big time!!!!

We were intrigued by this old building and for needing a little bit more information about Savannah also since we had evacuated from Charleston South Carolina due to Hurricane Florence. When we went inside we saw that it was an old bank building which could be seen plainly at the rear of the building with the large round, shiny steel bank vault doors. The ceiling height was that of a two-story building although it was only one story that I could see. After glancing around and taking one picture finally a lady came up and asked us if she could help. I am glad that it was not the only reason that we went inside of the building was to get information as it took quite a while for the elderly but quite nice lady to come talk to us.

As visitor centers go, the Savannah Visitor Center doesn't really amount to all that much but it does have some decent offers every visitor should know about like the visitor parking passes which provided unlimited garage or street parking for up to 2 days. It has a friendly knowledgeable staff that can be most helpful along with a lot of those hand out pamphlets from restaurants and other businesses. At this location there is also a gift shop with plenty of souvenirs and the Savannah Museum.

Trolly tours and gift shop with all the souvenirs from Savannah. Close to hotel and walking distance to this formation center. This place had the best souvenirs than the City Market.

Instead of being a quiet residential square with mostly grass, trees, park benches, and perhaps a serene fountain or unassuming monument, it's a commercial-like square bustling with activity. It seems to be *the* town square with a "city center" type feel. The fact that the square sits on top of an underground parking garage and has a visitor center on-site - a modern-looking one at that - already makes it very different from the rest. Ellis Square reminds me of Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta because of its open nature, mixture of brick walkways and greenspaces, stone tiles, steps/tiered seating, and splash pad. It's much smaller than Centennial Park, of course. When it comes to Savannah's other squares, it's one of the bigger ones. My wife and I have enjoyed our visits here over the years. Those visits have been strolls through the square to get from one place to the next (restaurant, shop/market). We've been during the daytime and nighttime. There have always been people (e.g., families) out and about and it's felt relatively clean and safe. Ellis Square was one of the city's first four squares. It was the third built, in 1733, and originally named Decker Square. It was later renamed after Irishman Henry Ellis (1721-1806), sixth colonial governor of Georgia. Of the 22 squares in Savannah, this is one of six on the northernmost row. The northernmost row is closest to the Savannah River. The river is only a few blocks away. This general area, between the river and south to Liberty Street, is touristy. It's all a part of Savannah's North Historic District. Savannah's historic City Market, opened in 1755, borders this square to the west. You can't miss it: https://www.yelp.com/biz/city-market-savannah

They offer a shuttle that will take you to 1.5 miles down the picturesque drive or you can walk. Cars are not longer permitted down the drive. The shuttle does offer some interesting facts and is open air allow you to take pictures and still enjoy the outdoors! The shuttle drop-off is at the museum that is on-site. It is in MUCH need of a renovation as some of the interaction pieces are no longer working. That said, I'd be lying if I said it totally lived up to the hype. It felt a little underwhelming overall, especially considering how long the walk is. Bring water -- seriously. If I did it again (and I absolutely will not), I'd probably rent bikes instead of walking the whole thing. I actually love history, so I was expecting to be more engaged by the historical side of it, but it just didn't really do it for me. I almost feel bad about it. In all fairness - half the site was closed so maybe I just got unlucky that day. The crowd also killed the vibe. It was the worst kind of tourist energy.
