The ceilings were extremely high, there was art all around us and because it was empty, it seemed even bigger. As soon as we entered we were greeted by a man in the front shop and he let us know that he was there for any questions we had. Since we were just killing time, we decided to just stroll around the building. There was a booth selling drinks and snacks, a nice touch for visitors popping in on their way to tour the city. We decided to head further up the stairs and stumbled into a spot that had tour brochures for so many local Southern cities and some sweet ladies behind the counter to help guide visitors. I ended up walking to the gift shop and began chatting with another sweet woman behind the counter. I was in awe of the most beautiful handcrafted miniature version of the Forsyth fountain and we talked about it for 10 or 15 minutes. It was truly one of the most beautiful pieces I've seen in a minute, obviously delicately crafted with so much love and intention. The woman at the counter told me stories of customers who have purchased the piece for special reasons, such as a mother who flew in to buy it as a surprise cake topper for her son's wedding as he proposed to his fiance at the fountain. How beautiful! Although we weren't there very long, I really enjoyed our visit!

This is a wonderful option that the city of Savannah has for people to get around because driving in Savannah can get very congested. The staff were very helpful, but they also maintained and upheld boat safety. It's important to know what's going on in Savannah when you are there because if there's a big event at the convention center, get congested and you may be waiting over an hour to get on the ferry. There's a schedule that they have posted on their website, which is pretty accurate.

A trip to Savannah can't be completed without a visit to Bonaventure cemetery, one of the most…read morehaunted areas in Savanah, about 10-15 minute drive from historical district. This cemetery is also famous from the book and movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The cemetery provides a tour, $30 per person. You can also do your own tour. We did not take the tour due to crunching in time. We downloade a map from the Bonaventure historical society and drove through the cemetery. We stopped at the interested area and walked around to visit famous tombs. There are many symbols and beautiful statues carved by a famous sculptor, John Walz. The most famous grave is Gracie, in section D, who belonged to little Gracie, who died in 1889 at age 6 from pneumonia. Other tombs like Hershbach angel in as well as Taliaffero in section D. Section H and F also have amny beautiful statues.

The best part is, I just have to send a quick text and ask if he can pick us up at a certain time and he will confirm and be there on time. We were picked up at the Visitors Center and boarded a nice, comfortable, clean, climate-controlled bus. Our tour guide, Ron, was excellent. He was very informative, comical, and really knew Savannah. (Afterwards, we discovered that he's the President and CEO of the company!) We stopped at several locations on the tour and sampled a variety of foods. Included in our tour (although each may vary) were Mom & Nikki's (smothered shrimp), Harris Baking Co. (pecan pastries), Polk's Produce (tomato sandwiches and BBQ), Angel's BBQ (duh...BBQ), the Paris Market (frozen hot chocolate...mmmm....), Savannah Bee Company (honey and honeycomb(!) samplings), Wright Square Cafe (chocolates and truffles), and, finally, Paula Dean's Lady & Sons restaurant for a sampling of one item from their buffet. All of the samples were delicious, although I was a bit chocolated out! Along the way, we got a great history of the restaurants, including the city of Savannah. I'd definitely recommend it at the beginning of a visit to Savannah so you know where you'd like to return to during your stay. It's like a city tour and lunch rolled into one.

We had Julie as our tour guide and she was very pleasant and non rushed during the tour and gave us excellent information. It was especially helpful to have a TV inside the bus that showed clips of places we stopped at and she explained the filming as well. With two stops along the way at the Savannah Theater and Leopold's Ice cream where we had time to meet the owner and indulge in some of the best ice cream around, we both clearly enjoyed our time on this tour, and I wouldn't hesitate to go again or refer someone to take it.
