Thanks to Save A Life CPR for an informative and awesome class! Thanks to Brandi, the instructor, and her sister for providing instruction on the Basic Life Support through this CPR renewal class for my every 2 year certification requirement for Health Care Providers. Located off of Rosecrans in the city of La Mirada on the 2nd floor; this class was easy to find online, through yelp, and in person. Parking is free in the shopping center and there is elevator access. Make sure to register online to get the class for $50 and to ensure a spot in the class. Just go, sign in, help yourself to some coffee, tea, water, and snacks! You also get a free click pen to advertise this business which cleverly put, "If you lose it, well then it is free advertising for us!" The class included demonstrations with the adult and infant mannequins as well as a video which allowed for practice time. The test was very precise and to the point, easier when performed as a group:) Thanks again to the "sister" staff at Save A Life CPR and keep using your best judgement! read more

Apparently our instructor had gotten sick and didn't tell anyone about his absence. The management at this location was very apologetic and Kathy graciously hosted a free class after refunding me. The BLS class lasted about the same as an average BLS class. If you've ever taken a BLS or CPR course it's nothing too new. The mannequins and equipment look like they're in great shape. She did spend a lot of time looking at the video instead of our technique but this was a last minute impromptu class and most of us were there for recertification. It was unfortunate that my first experience was marred by this instructor. I would like to come back to hopefully undergo the real experience without the unprofessional instructor who bailed out on his class. read more

Save A Life CPR - Safe a Life CPR - CPR Classes Near Me - La Mirada, California

Yelp 100 Challenge 2017 85/100 I have mixed feelings about this place. I somehow managed to miss all the renewal classes for this month at my hospital, and found myself scrambling to find a class last minute. I signed up for this the night before online and showed up the next morning. Sign up and payment were easy and there is a five dollar discount if you register online. You can also choose to purchase a book, which they state is mandatory, but it was not used at all during class. Since this was a renewal class, I expected it to go very quickly and we were out of there in under two hours, having covered adult all the way to infants CPR. My biggest issue with this place, was that the instructor never actually paid any attention to what we were doing. Her entire focus was on the video and she literally just watched the screen the whole time. The girl next to me had the absolute worst technique for bag-masking that I have ever seen in my life. I wanted so badly to reach over and correct her, and I kept waiting to see if the instructor would say anything. She never even glanced at us as we followed the steps led by the demonstrator in the video. What made it even worse was that at the end of the class, the girl actually stayed to ask for further clarification, indicating she actually was interested in learning. On the one hand, I appreciate being able to register and attend a class on such short notice. I would've been suspended from work if I hadn't found a class before the end of the month. However, as a healthcare provider who actually cares about taking care of patients, I am appalled by the fact that you can walk in and out of this place without having to actually know or learn how to do CPR. For me, this was truly a review course and I already knew everything but clearly a majority of the people in the class knew nothing. I have never attended a class, where you didn't have to return demonstrate and get signed off. I understand it's a business, and they want to make it easy for people so they'll come back or refer friends; however, there should be a balance between keeping their business running and actually certifying people properly. I left thinking,"thank goodness this place is so far from where I work", because if I had to count on any of these people to do CPR, the patient would die, guaranteed. I'm giving 3 stars because if you are experienced and need a quick renewal, this is the place; but, if you truly need to learn CPR, please find somewhere else to learn properly! read more
