A spur of the moment visit to this Dollar Tree location while driving along North Ave, after a run…read moreworkout. I figured why not drop in to pick up some essentials, plus a beverage in order to save a trip to my neighborhood location. Spur of the moment visits always lead to random purchases that I desire, but do not need in the moment which I will share. Right off the bat, I loved the way that the parking lot is set up at this location. Its entrance sits off of N Kostner Ave rather than along W North Ave making it accessible in an area that can get very congested at times; and the lot has plenty of parking space available. The location itself used to be a CVS Pharmacy which you can clearly see based off of its exterior design. Inside, the atmosphere felt very relaxed in comparison to other locations I have visited, especially the location in my neighborhood. And of course, there were items in stock that differed from other locations throughout the city of Chicago. As for my purchases, I seriously have a weakness for yellow tortilla chips! I could not pass up on purchasing a bag of tortilla chips which I can eat in one sitting, hehe. A word of advice, Dollar Tree is not the place to visit if you are hungry and have not eaten at all because it is easy to cave in and purchase any of the tempting junk foods shelved. I have been buying large bottles of water from Dollar Tree for some time now. Dollar Tree has my preferred brands in stock like Alkaline, Aquafina, Dasani, Eternal, and Life WTR which keep me purchasing consistently. Their sizes alone are perfect for the pace I choose to drink water, so Dollar Tree is my go-to choice for purchasing water. Being that I just ran, I needed a post run drink! I took a liking to a brand shelved known as Defy Boost + Immunity, a performance drink. Defy just happens to be black owned, woman owned, veteran owned: Former NFL Pro Terrell Davis, CEO Megan Bushell, and former Navy SEAL Eric Frohardt. It was a must purchase being that I support anything black owned, woman owned, as well as anything by a fellow military veteran. I really enjoyed this drink and will be looking for it in grocery stores or at other Dollar Tree locations after stumbling on it. As an alternative drink next to the Defy Boost Immunity grape, I purchased a Powerade solely for its electrolytes. Dollar Tree never disappoints at having these acceptably sized drinks shelved. Until now, I never would have seen myself years ago purchasing eye masks. Yes, they work! Especially if you would love to keep your eyes concealed in order to get rest during the daytime hours. I loved that this location has affordable, assorted, and feminine colors. Shelved, I encountered a box of cocoa pebbles instant oatmeal. I never knew they made such a thing, hehe. I have encountered items like this often at Dollar Tree which I would not dare to buy at a grocery store because the price is just not worth the possible let down, but that is just me. I make it my priority to purchase toilet paper every time I visit Dollar Tree since it is one of my most used essentials next to body soap. Even though I would have preferred Scott Comfort Plus, I had to settle for Strong and Soft since Scott Comfort Plus was not available. "Hint, hint ", Scott Comfort Plus is the better tissue brand in my opinion. I was surprised to see my favorite ice cream brand and flavor, Ben & Jerry's - Americone Dream in the freezer. In spite of it being in a small container, I just had to buy it, but I wished at the time I had a spoon, so that I could have enjoyed it while inside of my vehicle. Whether it be for the purchase of snacks, water, performance drinks, essentials, or breakfast foods, Dollar Tree continues to be a place where I spend a high amount on a monthly basis. It's poorly…read moremanaged, price gouging or checkout needs help as I had multiple errors on prices at check out - tip: check your receipt to make sure you aren't being over charged. Today I was over charged on 6 items. That total came to $30 that they owed me back in fraudulent charges 'not updated' in their system. But I defer to the employees who follow protocol in politeness but could not give a damn about the store or customers... I heard employees talking loudly about how they love when customers don't ask or take their receipts bc they somehow collect points or coupons as one said he scored a "$100 gift card" through his personal joy of seeing a customer misplace it. Also disturbing: mid afternoon on a Saturday I spotted mold growing on the supposed fresh produce...all over the zucchini in plastic wrap - see photo. That mold was growing for days. Also let them know all of their Salmon was bad - I'm talking warm, not even cold, very squishy in texture (rotted) and smelled bad. They said they would take care of it, but that was horrifying. I'll never buy produce here again. Wouldn't trust the meat either. Lastly I was frustrated bc Mgmt took 25 minutes to work out the 6 items I was overcharged on. If you shop here, document the price of everything you put in your cart and carefully monitor the sales screen at check out.. and beware of moldy produce and warm rotting fish...

I'am always grateful to have one of these within my neighborhood because I can find the typical things that I normally purchase from a supermarket, plus it's a much more relaxed environment compared to the larger supermarkets. As for this location it's no different than any other Aldi locations throughout the city, and It serves the same purpose and the prices are no different. I haven't been let down yet when I visit this location because I can always find the foods that I eat and crave, so I cannot complain. Luckily, if there are any issues there is a slightly larger grocery store named 'Market Fresh Foods' that sits right next door. Lastly, my recommendation is that if you have one of these in your neighborhood, use it! Plus bring your own bag or you will be limited to their selection of bags, which cost! Many Aldi locations from my observation are easy access from bus and train stops if you do not have your own vehicle. Thomas G

Jelly & Jam for Breakfast or Lunch as well next to Laundromat. Very busy area. Nice store and well cared for. Lots of treasures inside! The outside of the store has nice signage, the side of the building looks a bit dated so I wasn't really sure what to expect. WOW, super clean grocery store! Impeccable shape and well cared for ! Friendly People! Stocked with a wide variety of items from the US and imports; Mexico, Italy, France. Brazil. Germany, Poland. items. Very clean butcher shop & deli. I found the prices to be comparable for the area and size of market. Very impressive local neighborhood store! They have all the items for your daily needs.
