The selection varies wildly depending on time of year, but there's always a nice selection of clothing. The concept of the free store originated with the Digger movement of San Francisco of the 1960s. They had a free store on Haight Street where soldiers on leave could walk in looking like a soldier and walk out looking like a hippie, then they would probably go AWOL and ditch Vietnam. Nowadays it's a great way to curb the awful waste of our culture through re-use. As the website says, you need to swipe your card to get into the building. If you can't find someone to let you in, you can call the store and they'll come up and get you.

It has many of the same items that you would find in a grocery store like milk and stuff in the coolers, but laundry soap, bar soap, and toiletries, too, but also other things like picture frames, clothing and an assortment of school supplies like pens, pencils, notebooks, and filler paper, among other things. Whenever I'm back in Shelby, I come to this store several times because they have things that I need or forgot to buy. I use it more like a convenience store a lot whenever I'm in Shelby. I like going to this store just for the convenience of it. The next time I'm in Shelby with my family, I'll probably come to this store several times, too.

When ordering for an event all but a cheese tray and dessert were hot foods. Two of these hot foods were sandwiches, ordered specifically under the "hot sandwiches" section of the catering menu. When the food was delivered they did not have any chafing dishes with them, when questioned we were told we did not order them. Ok, we were NEVER asked if they would be needed. After some discussion they went back and did get them. Now we at this point were a half hour into the event, when they returned they were asked where are the buns for the sandwiches, to which they again replied you did not order them. Now in my book when ordering a SANDWICH it comes with some sort of BREAD. Again we were NEVER asked/told the buns do not come with the SANDWICHES would you like to order them as well. Needless to say we had to make a mad scramble to send someone to purchase buns 45-60 minutes into a 2 hour event where people were waiting to eat. When calling the store afterwards to speak to the manager she was less than helpful and somewhat condescending. I asked about a discount for the problems, was to receive a call back the next day and lo and behold it is now 3 weeks later and no phone call but they did send the bill with no discount!
