My aunt went in to grab some groceries for me earlier today so we could make dinner. The carts (which likely hadn't had their wheels oiled or replaced in a long time) kept locking up, making it difficult to push. The most logical solution to this would be to change out the cart, so she went back through the entrance to get a different one. I guess this save-mart had one of those automatic alarm systems, so because she didn't go by a register they went off. As my aunt was explaining her situation to a nearby worker, the manager comes out INCREDIBLY hostile. Immediately he starts accusing her of stealing, even AFTER she's explained the situation to him and the other employee. He doesn't hear her out, and still calls the police. So now shes in a situation where she's being accused and verbally attacked by a man in a grocery store of all things. She's upset, but continues to shop regardless because I was at home waiting for the rest of the ingredients we needed. After she exchanges her cart and she pays for her items, the manager brings the police to the checkout once they arrive. The manager asks the cashier/loss prevention girl what items my aunt paid for, and the girl says "everything?" in a confused tone, and lists off all of my aunts items. Not a single thing went unpaid outside the establishment. The police take my aunt to the side, where she explains what happened and they let her go without another word! They didn't even ask her for her name! All that man did was harass a woman and make himself look like a fool. Mind you, my aunt wears nothing but designer clothing and purses. Why on earth would someone wearing an outfit thats thousands of dollars with a purse that costs even more than that want to steal?? This guy is a joke and shouldn't be in a position of authority. read more

Is it a requirement not to have a personality or any customer service at this Save Mart location on Goshen and Akers? I've lived in Visalia for about four years, and since this store is very close to me, I shop there two to three times a week. It's become a joke in my family to see how many times I can go through checkout without saying a word, as the cashiers rarely engage or acknowledge me. Additionally, they only have one or two cashiers working at a time, which often leads to long lines and poor service. It's really disappointing and makes the shopping experience frustrating. Went into the store and was excited about getting some things. Had a few items in my cart and decided to go to the deli for some fried chicken. Unfortunately what they had was burnt and the employee told us that so we asked if they could do the sandwiches and another employee gave a dirty faced look and replied "I guess" after staring with a blank expression for a few seconds. Being rude is not something I a use to here as I shop at this store about 4-5 times weekly. A simple "no sorry" would have been perfectly acceptable and understandable. This is my favorite store!!! The produce is always fresh, the meat doesn't smell...I get sick to my stomach if I pick up a package of meat at a store and it has a smell coming from it. I like my produce, meat, dairy, and bakery items fresh. That is what I get at this store. I love the grilled to order. I use that service weekly and I love it. The staff is great. Bakery has a major problem. Any "filled" turnover pie or treat is basically completely empty. It has juuuust enough glaze of "filling" in the inside to make it look full. But when you get it home, it's a huge disappointment. Also bought a double crust apple pie, and the crust was raw. They took it back, but come on. Who is baking these things? read more

So this morning 10:40am, I went into save Mart on Goshen and Akers and filled my cart full of items for dinner tonight, then I having no choice I found myself stuck in the single checkout line, and I was number eight waiting, waiting, waiting. I even said loud enough for the manager to hear maybe you would think about opening up a second check out! Absolutely nothing changed. After what seemed like 20 more minutes (I'm sure it was less than a minute or two more). I walked out while I left my cart in line. I would think that being the most expensive grocery store in Visalia that they would be able to afford more than just one checkout clerk when there was over 12 of us in line. Even if the only other thing I had to do today was to take a nap, my time is more valuable than that no matter how conveniently located that market is, I will now do the majority of my grocery shopping at neighborhood, or even all the way down to Winco and Save Mart can keep their high prices and slow checkout lines all to themselves. read more

So we went to the store to get water to go camping it was memorial weekend so of course it's going to be busy but figured they would have checkers but no only 2 lanes open with lines to the back of the store. When we got to the front the lady In front of me asked the checker whose name was Sydney, why they don't you have more lanes open. Sydney's response was that she didn't care how long the lines were and that she gets paid by the hour. If that was my employee that would be her last hour working for me, absolutely no customer service. read more

Zero star! I came in to purchase items and during the checkout I requested cash back which went through. The cashier was distracted by a charge I had which was perfectly reasonable. We chatted about it and I left. The cashier and myself forgot about the cash back I requested and was charged for. Hours later I realized I did not receive the money. I spoke with the manager a young inexperienced guy. He called the cashier and she confirmed my story saying she didn't give me my cash back money. He wasted my time to watch video to confirm his employee messed up. Save Mart must be doing horrible in sales to question me and their employee's confirmed mishandling of not giving me my requested debit cash which I was charged for. Just left this save mart with HORRIBLE customer service! Corner of Akers and goshen. The manager, Jason was rude and uncooperative. I went to pick up my daughters birthday cake and because their were no baking staff available he simply said it was closed for the night and would not help. Jason is clearly not manager material and showed the inability to even care about his customers needs. For the most part this store is great. Having said that the deli counter service is not even deserving of a one star. This is not an occasional problem. It is EVERY SINGLE EXPERIENCE. They are too bothered to help. Because adjusting a name tag with 3 people deep is more important. Girls in the bakery were not wearing hairnets, very unsanitary. We found a hair in our sandwich which was not very pleasant. I understand mistakes happen but it is absurd when precautionary measures are not being taken. I would like to see this handled before I return. This review is long time overdue. Every time I decide to go back, I tell myself, "maybe that day was just a bad day and this time will be better". NOPE! Every single time I go to this Savemart, the customer service is so BAD! The majority of the employees are unfriendly, not approachable, and seem to not want to ever greet you! The only employees that have greeted me are the ones in the front sanitizing the carts. The cashiers are the WORST. They always greet the person before me and acting all friendly, but when it's my turn, they just stare and don't even say one word. I went today and purchased a few small items. The cashier (bigger guy with a beard) did not even ask if I wanted a bag. All he did was stare at me until I said something. He didn't even tell me my total!! It's not a coincidence that there was a review posted saying the same thing. That must tell you something!! I usually just buy a few items, and go to the express lane where a sign states 15 items or less, yet every time i get in that lane, someone is there with 5 bags of groceries? I had the most unfriendly cashier yesterday who was disrespectful and talking under her breath as I walked away. It's trying times right now but to be so rude is not necessary. I questioned the fact that I was being charged for bags, when I was just told from another Save Mart that I wasn't allowed to use my own bag and I wouldn't be charged for bags. I simply asked why I was being charged. She responds with such a poor attitude, which I was going to ignore, until as I was walking away she say under her breath "you can't afford 10 cents". I said excuse me, I didn't quite catch that. She then proceeded to change what was said. I will never go to this store again. I will go farther away from my home to a store where the staff is polite, even through these trying times. read more

While this savemart has a great location for me, the prices are too high. The meat is of barely passable quality, but priced way too high. The fish selection is pitiful, probably better quality and pricing in Kansas, let alone 3 hours from the Pacific Ocean. The produce is always top quality. Asian selection is small, needs to be beefed up. It's just a matter of time before a whole foods, Gelsons, Trader Joes, or other like chain comes in and puts a major dent in Savemarts monopoly in Visalia. I shop here out of convienience, I live about 1 block from here. The service is always friendly and I do enjoy the smiles and "hello's" I always get...except from one employee in the bakery who seems to be "full" of herself (fake tits), I usually avoid buying anything from the deli/bakery when she works because she is just a beach. This reminds me of the supermarkets from the 1970s. It looks like they haven't updated the merchandise or the look for about 30 years. The only thing that's current is their prices. The prices for the quality you get here is not in balance. I wish that a Trader Joe's supermarket would come to this area this market would probably be out of business about two years later. For a grocery store that is conveniently located by my house, I was really disappointed by the service I got today of all days. I walked out feeling offended even because the cashier (an older white lady with glasses) did not even bother to greet me when it was my turn to pay. She just looked at me and gave me the price. I handed her my money and the machine spits out my change. I expected her to say something else when she handed me my receipt but all she said was thank you in a not so nice tone. The reason this offended me was because she was talking to the bagger with such a peppy tone and laughing and joking & she even greeted the young Mexican lady in front of me in the same manner. & for her tone to change when it was my turn honestly made me feel like WTF (poor choice of words I know). But that is what went through my head. The younger people who work there when I go for a grocery run every other week are always very nice and greets me every single time when checking out. I don't know if it was because I was Asian or I only bought one item that I needed but her face and the look she gave me before I left made me feel like I didn't belong there. & I normally don't give bad reviews, but I just had to say something. & I hope she's not treating other people the way she treated me. read more

It had a good pharmacy, but they didn't have emergency contraception in the family planning aisle. They also weren't educated regarding there being no age or gender requirement to buy the morning after pill. They did, however, have easy access to family planning products. read more

This is one of the 'nicer' Save marts in town. Unfortunately, I have two complaints. The first... is something maybe every mother might be able to relate to. The shopping cart safety belts designed to keep children safe on the top basket were put on wrong on ALL of the carts (or just very poorly designed). My son is only 17 months old and it's nearly impossible to click him in. They are extremely tight and have no room to let any of it out. He's very wiggly and wants to move, so I have to sacrifice his comfort a bit and strap him in so tight he can't move much. It looks painful. As for my other complaint, I bought an organic whole chicken from them a couple weeks ago and opened it up from the fridge to cook two days later (the expiration date was still good) and it smelled like nasty fish. Obviously spoiled, I am disappointed I spent 15 bucks on chicken that I couldn't eat. They need to work on the freshness of their meat. read more

This store is the best one in town!!! The people are so nice, help u find stuff u need and always so happy to help. Mostly the people in the registers, I had trouble with my chip card because it acts up on me sometimes but the cashier was very helpful!
