I have been a dental hygienist for 20 years and worked 4-5 days a week for most of my clinical career. I'm considered a workhorse in the dental industry, but that comes with some very real risks. My WC journey started in 2015... At this point i was 87lbs(was 133lbs 2 months before)having all these complications from my second surgery like permanent nerve damage to my vagus and ulnar, CRPS, a paralyzed R Vocal cord, a gtube because due to the vagus nerve damage my stomach no longer worked and could not keep anything down. WC denied everything and anything and my body suffered and as well as my mental health. All the denials, not receiving any treatment that I needed to survive or the feeling of shame, guilt or I was not worthy for medical care(WC made me feel this everyday) caused major depressive disorder, anxiety, panic attacks and medical ptsd.
