Job not finished. No final inspection was done and none were done during the project. Did not repair damage done to fascia and gutter or area in front of the front door. Did not replace planters etc. removed where pavers were installed. Did not remove sample pavers and did not leave extra pavers as agreed to. Waited over a month for the work to start, should have been a red flag. Jamie was a charmer but promises he made were not fulfilled. Having said that, I want to add that their work crew were excellent; hard working, meticulous, friendly and polite. Based on our observations MANAGEMENT is the problem. I had an awesome experience with Savon. We got 5 quotes and Savon provided the most value for the price. The designer Ashley, was great. We went through a few iterations of the design and she was great with her communications and recommendations of what should work and what might not work. She provided all the paper work for submittal to the HOA. The overall project was installed quickly and the project manager was quick to give updates and worked with me as we changed the design on the fly. the site manager was a solid professional, Miguel, made sure that everything was installed correctly and also made recommendations during the installation process. Even after installation there were a few issues with the pavers but they came back out and fixed them. I absolutely cannot recommend Savon Pavers. While my initial meeting with them went well and the bid was competitive, my very simple project was fraught with issues that never would have occurred had there been adequate oversight of the project and prompt communication. 1) I solicited bids from four paver companies and chose Savon because of Ashley's expertise, demeanor, the pricing and estimated two month lead time. I signed a contract that stated my project would begin June 17 and was told it would take approximately one week to complete. At the last minute, I was informed it would be delayed until July 7. The project was started, then delayed another week due to ONE crew member being sick. On Monday, July 20, I put cones out front to save parking for the crew and. No one showed up and no one replied to my text. The next delay was attributed to pavers not being delivered, which begs the question of when exactly were the pavers ordered and why was delivery not timed to coincide with the amended timeline? 2) My project specs clearly stated that my space was to be dug out then raised to level off the approximate seven inch slope. Two drainage points were also to be installed. However, when I went to check the progress, I was, quite simply, aghast. The pavers were being installed but not only had the patio level not been raised, there was NO DRAINAGE. None. The edges of my foundation were still visible. I stopped the crew and asked them to check the job specs, which they did. All the specs were there they just were not following them. I then texted both Jamie and Ashley immediately (Friday July 23), asking them why my patio was being installed incorrectly. Neither of them replied. My neighbor, to whom I had also referred Savon, ended up calling Jamie at 9:30 that night and he agreed to meet up with us the next morning. Instead of being apologetic, he was defensive and made a number of excuses. He also could not explain why he refused to respond to my very frantic text. Had I not stopped the crew, my entire patio would have been incorrectly installed and would have subsequently had to be ripped out. As it was, the lack of oversight caused YET another delay. 3) I clearly stated in a text to Ashley that I wanted a darker, contrasting border around my patio. She sent a file via email then had samples dropped off, all which appeared to be the same color with one dark, contrast color just like in one of the photos. The contrast was perfect and I told her to move forward. Fast forward to the border being installed. I again went to check on the crew because I had viewed the patio from my neighbor's deck and there appeared to be no contrast between the border and the patio. That is because there wasn't. Ashley didn't come here personally to review the paver color selection with me, show the difference between pavers and confirm the color so I assumed because there was only one paver among the samples that was actually darker THAT would be the paver border. Ashley came out, took a look, and I showed her the samples. Not only was the crew installing the wrong border color, they were installing those border pavers (Foundry) in among the Rio pavers. Approximately 35 pavers had to be pulled and replaced with the correct color and the correct border pavers ordered. I requested a discernibly darker border yet the only other sample I received matched so closely to the Rio that even the crew was putting it in with the Rio pavers. First Ashley then Jamie tried to put this mistake on me saying I signed off on the border color. How could I have possibly known what I was signing off on was wrong when the Foundry border was among the Rio pavers and I had clearly stated I wanted a darker, contrasting border?Why didn't Ashley inspect the samples herself to confirm color selection? 4) Now we come to the steps leading from my garage. The risers were supposed to match the patio floor with the steps being bullnosed and matching the border. I actually texted Ashley twice, the first time exclaiming they didn't match, the second time to say it must still be the bare concrete. Now, imagine my shock when she said that the steps were done. I sent photos, not just to her, but a number of friends. I also had people come and look at the steps in person and I can't even tell you how many people have asked me when Savon is going to come out and finish them because they look like "wet concrete." When Ashley came out the next day she tried to tell me they did match when clearly they did not (see photos). Not only that, instead of installing the bullnosed steps as outlined in the bid, they just installed the contrasting border pavers instead. 5) The final straw? Savon wanted to charge ME $800 to fix THEIR mistake. Go with this company at your own risk and make sure you act as the project manager because they won't provide any oversight of your project but they will bill you. And it will take them two months instead of a week to finish the job. read more

Couldn't be happier with our decision to hire Savon pavers. I obtained quotes from four different companies and not only did Savon have the lowest bid, but they provided more within the quote than any of the others. My initial contact was with Jamie the owner and David -both were friendly and knowledgeable. David continued on managing our project, which in total lasted 11 days. Pros: I hired Jaime and his crew to lay some pavers and replace the retaining wall in my backyard. They finished on time. They executed the job as planned. The price was not absurd. Cons: The cleanup / pick up of their equipment took about one day more than I wished. There is also about 3 inch gap where the retaining wall intersects with the fence, probably because they didn't want to touch the fence that is sagging. Would I hire him again? We met Jamie and the team at the home show in Del Mar. Savon did a complete makeover in our backyard. We had numerous bids completed that ranged from somewhat reasonable to completely outrageous (seriously, how can you ask me to pay that much for yard word). Jamie's bid far beat any of the others and was the 1st time we realized we could afford to have the yard we dreamed of. To begin with, Jamie showed up when he said he would, not a trait shared by other contractors. He always answered his phone or called back shortly when I had questions or concerns. All of the workers were respectful and listened as I explained my vision. The project was completed in the time frame promised and ON BUDGET!!! There were no crazy cost overruns or surprises. What a great experience I had with Savon pavers. I bought a house a few months ago and the backyard was a disaster, just dirt at different slopes. Let's say that in the past few months I didn't get to use my backyard. So I finally contacted Savon Pavers and Gio came out to see the place. Due to my constraint budget, he helped me figure out a way to phase my project and still get build a nice big patio to enjoy my many dinner parties. Originally posted 11/27/2016: Jamie came out initially and quoted us much less than the competition. The price of the demo, the pavers with a decorative retaining wall and the patio cover still came in less than just pavers from the competition. Both of the work teams were awesome. The demo and paving team and the patio cover team. Saul was especially helpful and responsive on the work teams. Michelle and Jamie were super responsive as well. The end-product is awesome. The kids love it and now spend every day playing outside. They'd always ask to go somewhere else instead of wanting to stay at the house. Description of work: Replaced 1500-1800 square feet of dead grass with pavers in the back-yard. Ripped out old concrete as well as replaced old, rotted out lattice patio cover with a new aluminum patio cover. They also did some other things I needed done: removed a tree and replaced an improperly installed gas line from the house-flippers who owned prior to us. All in all, great work. We're really pleased with how it all turned out. Update: 05/17/2020 I thought about Savon Pavers yesterday. I've always been pleased with their work, but I had some drain maintenance performed recently and the gentleman who came out mentioned how well designed the work was. Not just the pavers. In this case, he meant the drainage. Again, to me it spoke of the attention to detail that the Savon team observed. We had a backyard space that we wanted converted to a patio area using pavers. Savon Pavers quickly responded to our inquiry with a complete description of the project and a fair quote. They were able to start the following week but there were some delays due to weather. My wife and I are currently in the process of getting bids from multiple Pavers vendors and saw all the high marks given to Savon Pavers. We reached out and was assigned to Gio Croce, who apparently is their Lead designer. All seemed to be tracking well until we just tried to set up a simple appointment for an estimate. We began the dialogue on 07 Nov 2018 targeting to get the estimate done the afternoon of 16 Nov 2018. Gio told us they were a Service Disable Veteran Owned Small Business which we thought was great since I am a retired Veteran as well after 24 years of Active Duty Service in the Navy. So we locked in a time on 16 Nov and thought we were all set......not that simple. Then the perceived "pressure tactics" began. Gio re-engaged with us via email asking why we were waiting to so long to do an estimate and we said that both my wife and I work and 16 Nov was an "off day" for my wife as she worked an alternative work schedule with every other Friday off. We then emailed back and forth and possible alternate dates before 16 Nov but all my wife and I could realistically accommodate was afternoon appointments because we work. Gio said that wouldn't work for him because he would have to deal with the traffic on his way home. So today 13 Nov, Gio emails us stating that he has a company policy saying both the "decision makers" have to be at the meeting together. So again he was looking for an alternate date. We've been upfront from the very beginning that my wife would be the one to meet with the vendor. At no time did Gio state to us this unique policy requirement of having to meet with both of us for the estimate. If I were still on Active Duty in the service, deployed overseas, Gio would still be only meeting with my wife. For a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business, one would think their owners would be sensitive to that fact being Veterans themselves. If it is this difficult to just lock down a date for an estimate, I can only imagine what the execution of the actual task might be like. As such, we decided it is was probably best we go separate ways. Given all the high marks this company got on Yelp, am unsure if this is an anomaly or not. However, if we are going to invest a substantial amount of money on a project such as this, we have to be comfortable with the vendor and pressure tactics I would offer is not the correct approach. read more

He made some suggestions which we accepted and they turned out great The work from the installers was great. They cared enough to make the cuts as close as possible, no gaps in coverage They suggested gutter drain which I didn't even think off. They suggested placing pvc pipe under drive way in case I wanted to run water for sprinklers or low voltage lites from one side to other side of driveway If we had a concern we talked with Frank the project manager and our concerns were taken care of with no problems There were no problems with access to enter or leave our house. This excellent contractor completed our 2,068-sf paving project in less than 2 weeks. It all started when we met the designer, Erica Silveira, and discussed the paving design of our back and side yards. In advance of our first meeting, we provided her with our house plot plan, just to see how well prepared a designer/contractor would be (just like in a job interview). Wow! To our delight, she came prepared with the preliminary design, drawn in 2D and 3D CAD software on her laptop. This is the most we have ever seen with any of our previous contractors. Using her CAD software on her laptop, we were able to interactively adjust the design to our liking and most importantly, to meet our budget. Erica's skillful CAD design allowed us to come up with the final design in the most efficient way. Once the project started, the Saveon Pavers team worked non-stop to demolish the large concrete pad, prepare the soil, install the drains, install and seal the pavers. The team, effectively led by experienced leaders like Frank and German, consisted of dedicated and hard working members. It was a pleasure for us to do business with Savon Pavers and especially Erica. We highly recommend this company and designer to anyone who wants a highly progressive design service. read more

Great job from the crew that worked in this project. Was aware of everything going on with the project and was notified if their were any changes or any issues that needed to be addressed. Got a bid from John and then chose what types of pavers I wanted and what colors. They first came out to dig and add drains and gas line. Once they finished up digging and adding/changing drains and gas line, the pavers and the rest of the project got done in about 2 weeks. In total the project took a little under 4 weeks ( not including weekends). Just understand that sometimes you might not see the crew around for a couple days if they are slammed with projects. I was in no rush to get the project done so them missing a few days to attend to other projects didn't bother me at all. Compared to a few other bids I got, they were about 5-10 thousand dollars cheaper. They like to use Belgard for their pavers, which seems to be the go-to for the 3 companies I got bids from. I have a home in Oceanside, and in May of 2020 I decided to have pavers installed in my backyard. I was trying to write a very detailed review, but Yelp is giving me limited space. So I will just say that John, the salesman, and Frank, the project manager, turned out to be a big disappointment. They both had tempers and large egos when I dared to question them or point something out that was sloppy. Several times they pointed out "I've been doing this for 30 years." I often felt like they were bullying me. They did not have a good eye for aesthetics and they paid little attention to detail, nor did their subcontractors. The work they did on the drainage and planters was subpar, and my boyfriend has spent hours redoing a lot of their work. My advice if you hire them is to read the contract thoroughly and watch them every step of the way because they will take shortcuts. read more

Let me start by saying that we absolutely love our pavers! Savon did an amazing job. I would have given them a 5 except for a few hiccups! We were initially told that the job would be completed in 3 days. It took 2 - 2 1/2 weeks. We started off with one of their machines breaking down on the day they were to start. A few more machinery casualties and then only one guy working on a large area caused the project to be a bit drawn out. Now for the good stuff. Wow, the price is definitely better than any other quote we got. The finished work is awesome. James made a recommendation for raised border which really finished the project off. Are there two SAVON PAVERS? There are rave reviews here on Yelp for a company by that name, but our experience was unsatisfactory, frustrating, and expensive. I hate doing this, because Jamie Valdez and Michelle Valdez (owners, operators) seem to be nice people who mean well. It's just that in our particular case the project went very poorly, and the owners did not step up to rectify problems until I brought an attorney into the deal. Other prospective customers of this paver company should know what happened and take appropriate precautions. The contract said the "cash down payment may not exceed $1,000 or 10% of the agreement price, whichever is less." However, we were required to generate a down payment totaling $8,204 on a job priced at $12,204. We tried to help because Jamie Valdez, the owner, said that the company is not making a profit. I erroneously accepted the idea that more cash in advance would be motivating, and would improve results. In fact, we received a notice of an impending MECHANICS LIEN from ORCO, the company that sold the pavers to SAVON, but Michelle was able to get that released. The contract called for base preparation of SIX INCHES of Class II Road Base. Many times, I pointed out to the job supervisor that his crew was applying road base at less than three inches, and was told "it doesn't matter." I still don't know whether or not it matters, but do know that the material for which we paid was not used. Here are other problems: 1. Schedule. The contract called for a start date of February 17, with completion on February 23. When we signed the contract, city signs were along our street indicating that new asphalt was about to be laid down. I cautioned Michelle to immediately call the asphalt company (number was on the sign) and coordinate. In fact, some disappointing things happened. Though street paving did not begin until after February 23, our driveway job began only a week after that. I could easily have been done when promised. Rain interrupted work, however, and the job was completed only on March 25, more than a month after it began. When it seemed to be complete, we paid the $4,000 balance without argument, despite our concerns regarding quality of work and other matters. It's clear that Savon did not coordinate with the city. Even more frustrating, Mr. Valdez told me later that it had been MY RESPONSIBILITY to determine when appropriate space would be available on the street - though we had no idea of the requirements of his equipment, sequence, etc. 2. Supervision seemed to be woefully inadequate. We never knew when the crew would be at work - days went by with nothing accomplished. The supposed supervisor did a poor job, and we were never informed. Even phone calls went unanswered. In many cases, pavers laid down and ready were uprooted and moved because whoever ordered those materials had made errors, requiring compromises regarding color distribution. Gaps between pavers were not properly filled and sealed until our attorney got into the discussion. Severe damage was done to one of our sprinklers (I repaired that after Savon declined). 3. When I pointed out an error in the slope of the driveway, that supervisor insisted that "It's an optical illusion" and refused to fix it. One of his workers had a better work ethic, and in the absence of his supervisor he used a level to confirm the problem, and fixed it. Michelle wrote to me saying that the supervisor had been fired and replaced. 4. The newly-paved street was damaged by Savon's steel containers, filled with concrete and dirt, which dug deeply into the new asphalt. Despite many promises to repair the damage, by Mr. Valdez and his replacement supervisor Mr. Wiggins, that problem has still not been addressed. 5. We were assured that Jamie Valdez would be personally involved in our job, but we saw him only when he took our money, and after our attorney lit a fire under him and he personally returned to try to fix mistakes. 6. As an inducement to do the deal, Jamie agreed to include staining the concrete on our back patio. The result is truly horrendous, as shown in the photo. I asked Jamie to look at the job to see if it was done as he expected, and he responded "I don't need to see it." For these reasons and others that were trivial (but frustrating!), we cannot recommend Savon Pavers. Everything listed above has been carefully documented, and in this litigious society of ours it made sense to have our attorney review this Yelp! posting. We overpaid, the driveway took more than a month to finish, there was terrible communication, the quality of work was less than that promised in the contract, and the relationship was extremely frustrating. However, THE $12,204 DRIVEWAY LOOKS GOOD... Despite repeated promises, the street damage is still not fixed. read more

Terrible customer service!!! Stay away from this company. Called to request a quote. The designer that was scheduled to come out sent a text a couple hours prior to the appointment saying he was too busy to come out that day and would only come if we had a large enough property to make it worth his while. He even had he audacity to ask me to go out and measure the property myself. We've never had such horrible service and frankly...blatant rudeness...from any provider in the past. If customer service is part of the equation when hiring any contractor for your home...my recommendation is to look elsewhere. read more

We researched multiple pavers companies and finally settled on Savon Pavers to work on our front yard. Jaime and team are the best. Jaime gave us the best price (he beat all other quotes). We agreed on terms on a Monday, and they started concrete demo the next day. Jaime was very patient, and worked with me until we found the pavers/colors we wanted. We agreed on the design, and his team delivered. We love our front yard (porch, steps and driveway) and all the neighbors complemented us on the design/pavers/color. Everything looks perfect (like it was part of the house). Unlike a previous contractor we worked with, Jaime is very reliable, very patient, doesn't nickel and dime you.
