Dec 16, 2020, Hired Mike Howard to repair structural damaged to my home caused by extensive dry rot…read moredamage. This was not a trivial job. The dry rot had compromised a main structural corner beam which supported the second story. The repair would first require building a temporary support to hold up the second story while removing the damaged support beam and replacing all of the dry rot wood. The repair process required first coordinating with a structural engineer to design a repair plan and then with the Snohomish County office to issue a repair permit. Mike was very helpful through the entire process. Mike was confident that he could perform the repair safely and within code without an engineering drawing, but suggested that the drawing would likely be required for the county to issue the permit. I decided to get the engineering drawing and Mike was right. The county flat out said that this repair required an engineering review and drawing. I told Mike I would hire him for the job, but only after I saw and understood what the repair plan entailed. Mike met with the engineer to discuss the repair job and then Mike outlined for me exactly how he would complete the repair. While listening to Mike explain the repair process it was apparent to me that he completely understood the structural design of a home. Having a contractor with this type of experience and knowledge was the only way I would go. Mike was a pleasure to work with. He answered all of my questions with integrity and no BS. I decided to take the 2 days off to watch the work performed. Mike had no issues with this. He discussed the work while it was in process and I always felt comfortable with his decisions and confidence. The work was done in accordance to the engineering drawing and the permit was signed off and closed without any issues. The images show the before and after work, minus the exterior wall board nailed up. I decided to repair the drywall and brickwork myself. Thanks for a wonderful job and experience Mike.

Because of her thoroughness, there were no surprises from start to finish. She made it easy. Second, Spane's bid came in the lowest, but I thought it was reasonable as I had done my own estimate of materials and labor based on current costs. The house has lots of character and many custom elements, including wood trim from native trees. As such, we needed to find a contractor who respected and appreciated the craftsmanship and who would make an extra effort to retain the high quality and look. Our first major project was to transform a tiny powder room into a 3-piece bath with shower. After interviewing several contractors, we decided to go with Cameron and Bigfoot Builders. He was extremely detailed in his project scope and pricing. He was also the only one with an online website which was customized for our project and where we could check on timeline, progress, change orders, etc. Working with Cameron was very easy. He took 360 degree photos and translated them into a diagram that showed the amount of space we had and what could be done with it. Since we had a large closet on the other side of the wall with the sink, he proposed that we utilize some of that space for the shower, while keeping the remainder of the space as a very usable clothes closet with shelves. Timing was a bit delayed, but not due to their work. Being on an island has its challenges and the ferry accessing Guemes was out for 6 weeks so, by the time we could actually get started, it was well into peak season and we had to work with each subcontractor (electrician, plumber, tile, etc) as they became available. Cameron was really good at communicating dates of availability and trying to move things up when he could. Each of the subs did exceptional work, so no complaints there. Cameron worked with us with the colors and materials and offered valuable input. The result is very functional and high quality, maintaining the craftsmanship and look of the rest of the house. The materials allowance included in the estimate was generous, unlike many contractors who try to keep those costs minimal. Cameron understood what the desired final look would be and was able to procure high quality materials. He even had an extra tall custom shower door built rather than a standard off the shelf door so the look would be more cohesive. The shower door will be installed today and I am looking forward to the final, finished look. The bath is situated between a bedroom and media room and really looks like it is an ensuite to the bedroom. It does not look like an add-on. I can't say enough about the high quality work that the Bigfoot team does. Kyle, who was working hard the whole project, did exceptional work, even according to the other subs. He framed out the shower stall perfectly, so perfectly that the man who came to take the shower door measurements had to take them three times because he could not believe how perfectly the job was done. He told me that "they could have just sent me the measurements and saved me a ferry ride". The entire Bigfoot team is a pleasure to work with. Everyone is pleasant, respectful, and eager to please. This is such a welcome departure from other contractors that I have worked with. Even smaller, miscellaneous tasks like a sliding door lock (which my husband mangled) were done with cheerfulness and attention to detail. This company has upped the bar for their competition. I will be doing other projects with them.

Our family of 6 was displaced from our home for 5 months while we battled Chris and his insurance to cover the loss/damages and ALE. When we called about active water intrusion, they failed to act, and water leaked into our home for over 9 hours, causing significant damage. Even more frustrating, their insurance coverage fell short due to a workmanship exclusion, which resulted in our claim being denied and left us with substantial out-of-pocket expenses. (They are not covered to leave your roof 'open' after work begins) Communication was inconsistent, and accountability was lacking throughout the process. Our home has it's original metal roof and over the years it has had multiple layers of snow coat roofing. I have patched it with seam-sealer, scraped and maintained it but over the years the weight of the snow had stretched the metal so that rainwater was collecting in pools and I had struggled with leaks continually. Handling this had become particularly difficult with my physical disabilities. Back in 2018 I reached out to several different roofing companies to get bids and they were ALL off the chart expensive. Cascade Roofing was actually recommended by several of the other roofing companies. Cascade Roofing's bid was actually "reasonable" compared to the others but even so, it was still more than I could really afford. I saved what I could and contacted Rick Steiner at Cascade Roofing and when he heard about my situation, he said that he would do what he could to help out. His team worked together very quickly to install an entirely NEW roof on my home and he even gave me a veteran discount that placed the end cost significantly below his bid! I was so thankful. I told him I would leave him an amazing review on yelp, but I didn't! The thing is... ...I've been living in this rainy area for so long with a leaky roof, I was honestly afraid that it was just a matter of time before the water started dripping here or there and I honestly didn't want to get my hopes up! I felt like leaving a positive review on a roof that hadn't been tested, couldn't possibly be considered "fair" and "honest". So, over the past 5 years have been checking everywhere with moisture sensors... NOTHING! NO LEAKS!!! After 5 years I can honestly leave this review now and say: CASCADE ROOFING IS THE ROOFING COMPANY TO HIRE FOR ALL OF YOUR ROOFING NEEDS!! These people are amazing, thoughtful, kind, and the quality of their work has stood the test of time! When it used to rain, I would get sick and stress as I'd listen quietly for the inside "drip" sound. I was worried that I would have to go out into the torrential rain, fumble out the ladder and try not to slip and fall as I'd carry a bucket of patch-seal to slop some of the chemical wherever I thought it might be leaking. Now when it rains... I smile. I still don't sleep great (because of my military issues) but when I do sleep, I don't have dreams of my roof falling down on me and my daughter in a mess of dripping beams and papier-mâché. Before I start my review, I must provide a back story. We are an active duty military family, with…read morea custom built home in Anacortes, WA. We currently live overseas. I have had an issue of water leak at one of my doors that has been an issue ever since the house was built due to improper installation. Back in 2015 (when the house was complete) the first rainy season came, and a ton of water came into the house. Unfortunately I was not living in the home at the time, it was rented. We had already moved out of state. I knew of the issue- and visited it every single year, off and on. I did have a couple contractors look at the problem and quoted literally thousands of dollars and explained the issue to be a long drawn complicated one. Being military, with a crazy schedule, and then due to the $$$ we never finalized repair. Intimidated by committing to a contractor due to money and then not having the time to do research just made this an ongoing issue. Every rainy season, water would come in, creating some significant damage. Finally, round 5 here we go...I randomly decided to pursue this again, with absolutely no hope that anything would materialize. Within 7 days of contacting James at ACME, issue is 100000% resolved. Cost? 1/8th of what others were quoting, the issue? Not complicated he made it seem simple. He responded to my inquiry SO quickly, so efficiently. He made the time to go out to the home immediately for an inspection and when I asked him when he planned on going out, he said he already completed majority of the work and just needed to go in for some final touches. It's beyond quality of work or work ethic, it's beyond an honest contractor who quoted a price that I could not refuse and with a keen eye inspected other issues that needed to be addressed, it's beyond all that. It's about finding someone that respects your time. I am only in the US for a few more days, and I expressed to him that before I left we could even get to the point of him making an appt. with my tenants and going out to the home, I would be so happy. (Most contractors in the area would either cancel their appt, or provide too long of a lead time- weeks). He completed the job before I thought possible, beyond expectations, for that I am SO grateful. Being active duty- it's always important to find someone that is trust worthy, reliable, self-motivated, and values your time. I will certainly be a return customer. PLEASE do not look anywhere else, if you happen to come across this business contact him, you will not be disappointed. Last note- he honors the military and gives an excellent discount!
