We've been trying for two years to get them to take responsibility and honor their written guarantee but to no avail. The attached photos were taken on May 7, 2025. They show the ridiculous way they chopped the root ball and then planted it bare root. This Sunburst Locust tree never had a chance of successfully transplanting. What replays with us are Bevin's initial words when we originally reached out with concerns about the health of the tree. She said, "Don't worry, I've never replaced a Locust tree." Well that's still true! Even when the tree dies and we are out significant money and need to start over with a reputable nursery, she NEVER REPLACED A LOCUST TREE!! AVOID BOTH PITTSFORD TREE & LANDSCAPE AND VILLAGE GARDEN STORE!!! Dishonest and a disgrace to small businesses. Bevin never returns our calls or emails so we have driven to the nursery several times. Each time she lies to us and promises to come to inspect and trim the trees but does not follow through. She offered to extend the warranty to 3 years but refused to put it in writing. My last communication was requesting resolution sent a month ago via USPS Certified Mail...no response! We love to support small businesses but this one is terrible. They use the name of Pittsford Tree and Landscape, as well as Village Garden Store & Nursery. My contact there began avoiding my phone calls, more so than usual after the problems began. If that doesn't speak of the professionalism of this outfit, I don't know what does. There is no reason my kitchen should have taken this amount of time other than sheer incompetence and absolutely no attention to detail. The process has been a nightmare and I have received no apology of any sort from Kitchen Express II but I would expect nothing less of them given their track record thus far. After multiple calls on a day that my contact quite obviously refused to answer or call me back (and the person in question WAS in the office), I did finally receive a phone call from the owner claiming he "couldn't do anything else for me". I guess it was my fault that his incompetent employee measured incorrectly, ordered the wrong parts THREE times and the installer tried to pass off shoddy and hurried craftsmanship as "the way it's supposed to be". Apparently he was doing me a big favor by actually fixing the problems his employees were responsible for. What Kitchen Express II has done for me is give me multiple headaches, a ton of lost time and massive inconvenience for 4 months. As I pointed out above, many mistakes were made through-out this debacle with wrong parts being ordered several times, poor measuring which resulted in a less than desirable look and towards the end, sloppy and hurried craftsmanship as the contractor obviously just wanted to finish. My patience has been tried to the point of wanting to explode and I am normally a very laid-back person. I have come to accept some of the slightly less noticeable mistakes in an effort to draw this painful process to a close. Sadly, it is now certain that I will have to live with some of the larger mistakes as well. Needless to say, I would avoid Kitchen Express II like the plague for any sort of work in your home unless you're a masochist that enjoys incredibly frustrating, long, drawn-out home remodeling projects that result in a "mostly ok" finished project.

JEC started an entryway and garage addition the week of Thanksgiving 2019. I was quoted a time of…read more6-8 weeks for the project and they still are not close to done (April 30th 2020). Dave never showed me a final drawing. This mistake led to the garage being 2 ft short and the entryway being unsymmetrical. He took "liberties" without consulting me or my wife, changing our plans because he thought we would like it better the other way. The only way I got workers to my house after 3 weeks of no activity was to have another company come out and quote me to fix JECs mess. I still don't have gutters on my house and now there is water damage to the basement and the area around my house is a swamp. They did not receive proper inspections from the town during construction and continued work anyways. This will lead to more work for them down the road as they will need to open up walls they already finished for a framing inspection. There have been plenty more problems. Avoid JEC at all cost.
