We've been trying for two years to get them to take responsibility and honor their written guarantee but to no avail. The attached photos were taken on May 7, 2025. They show the ridiculous way they chopped the root ball and then planted it bare root. This Sunburst Locust tree never had a chance of successfully transplanting. What replays with us are Bevin's initial words when we originally reached out with concerns about the health of the tree. She said, "Don't worry, I've never replaced a Locust tree." Well that's still true! Even when the tree dies and we are out significant money and need to start over with a reputable nursery, she NEVER REPLACED A LOCUST TREE!! AVOID BOTH PITTSFORD TREE & LANDSCAPE AND VILLAGE GARDEN STORE!!! Dishonest and a disgrace to small businesses. Original post: They won't honor their written 2 year guarantee on 2 large trees we purchased and they planted in October 2022. We have been trying to address issues with these trees since spring 2023 and still don't have a resolution 18 months later! Bevin never returns our calls or emails so we have driven to the nursery several times. Each time she lies to us and promises to come to inspect and trim the trees but does not follow through. She offered to extend the warranty to 3 years but refused to put it in writing. My last communication was requesting resolution sent a month ago via USPS Certified Mail...no response! We love to support small businesses but this one is terrible. They use the name of Pittsford Tree and Landscape, as well as Village Garden Store & Nursery. I used the online order form on their website to order two face cords of firewood. After five days of not hearing from them, but seeing on my debit card account that they had already processed the charge, I used their online form on their website to contact them that I had not received any firewood. I waited another three days and called them, but getting a human being to answer one of their phone tree numbers was a challenge. Finally, a lady gave me the personal number of the man who handles the firewood (maybe you could include that number on the order form!). When I finally got him on the phone, he made no apology for the fact that they had taken my money and not delivered any product nor answered my two e-mails, but at least I got the order through. I had them dump the firewood at the top of my driveway, but I wasn't home at the time. When my son started stacking the wood in the back, I noticed all the wood debris that came with the firewood. Apparently, they didn't want to take the time to clean out their truck and decided to dump all the fine debris collected over several deliveries onto my driveway (I have a photo, but there's no way to paste it in) for me to clean up. They also spent time on a garden bed that had been removed by them 10 days before, where they leveled the ground, placed down topsoil and seeded grass. The crew were hard working and led by Tom who was very professional and friendly (thank you, Tom!). The crew cleaned up all debris before they left. Overall, I highly recommend them as a landscaping company. And a big thank you to Trevor Wood who directed and oversaw the entire project. They quoted me about $150 a square foot just for installing the deck. I googled the average price to have trex decking installed and it said 40 - 80 a square foot. Highway robbery. Also they wanted an $800 design fee before that would even come over and look. I guess they really do not need my business. For what she quoted me, I could have built a small home with windows and electric. I cannot speak for their work but they are definitely screwing people.
