In my experience, their offers are absolutely insulting. They offered me $396 for over $1,100 worth of melt-value sterling. I understand a business needs to make a profit, but trying to make double--if not more--off members of their own community feels disgusting and predatory. On top of that, I was made to feel less than the entire time. The older men working there looked at me like I was naïve and easy to take advantage of. It was very clear to me that their attitude was based not only on my age but also on the obvious fact that I'm not straight. The whole interaction came across as discriminatory, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Something else that really bothered me: they took several of my items out of sight to weigh and test them. Thankfully nothing was missing, but any reputable business does those steps in front of the customer, not behind closed doors. That alone was a huge red flag. The guy assisting me bluntly told me there was no negotiating on their offer--clearly just trying to maximize their profit at my expense. There was zero transparency, zero respect, and zero effort to treat me like a valued customer. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. In my opinion, they do not treat people fairly, they do not operate professionally, and they do not deserve the trust of the community they claim to serve.

These clowns had the nerve to tell me it was fake, claiming it was just "heavy gold plated." What a joke. I walked out, went straight to a respected local jeweler, and they immediately tested it--confirmed it's a beautiful 14k piece. I secured the funds I needed from a reputable pawn shop and will be picking up my bracelet on Tuesday.

I had an issue with my sunglasses and was told at the point of sale that if I had any need of repairs I could bring them in. I did just that in November of 2024. I was told that it would take about a month to get them back. I called in January to check on the status and was told that someone would get back to me and no one did. I was later told that the owner was sick with the flu which is understandable and that someone would get back to me. No one did. I finally got a hold of the owner today after months of trying to get the status and she verbally accosted me stating that she ordered a ring for me that I didn't retrieve which is a BOLD faced LIE. She did not have the ring in stock and I wanted to see it in person BEFORE making the purchase. I also told her that it was fine and that I would try the Brighton store in Delaware. She volunteered to order it and told me that I could make my decision when I visited the store and that I was under no obligation to purchase it. Rightfully so as I did not make the request. Weeks later told me that the ring came in when I called to check on the status of my sunglasses the first time and I told her that I would take a look at it when I came to retrieve my glasses. This owner Kathy was very defensive despite my effort to emphasize with her for the brief 3 weeks that she was sick. She apologized for lying saying that she did in fact not tell me that the repair was a curtesy and she had to pay a total of $40 to send it for repair. While apologizing she simultaneously disrespected me saying "not to mess with her" and abruptly hung up on me while I was simply stating that it had been months and was empathizing with her situation. Of course she didn't hear that as she was screaming at me. She also accused me of being disrespectful in her shop which nothing could be further from the truth as I've had nothing but sweet encounters with her, her family and staff in addition to my husband and autistic child. What a disgrace. You should be ashamed of yourself for the way you treated me unnecessarily and your utter LIES. SPEAKING OVER your customers is not the right way to do business especially when they have legitimate questions and were being empathetic. I do not recommend this vendor and will be taking my business to the Brighton store going forward. I'm sure you're going to reply with UTTER lies but remember I also cannot believe that you JUST mailed the sunglasses out for repair. God sees and knows all things and will repay each one for wrongdoing. AS THEY SAY KARMA is no respecter of persons and you I'm sure won't be exempt. DO NOT BUY HERE!!

It was time to find a solution so I came to this jeweler to see what my options were. He said that he could put a rhodium coating, which would help create a barrier. The coating generally lasts anywhere between six months to one and a half years depending on how frequently you wash your hands and one's profession. My husband went to pick it up for me and commented how sparkly it was after being professionally cleaned. I've had the ring on for two days so far and have not experienced any skin allergies. (Knocking on wood) Patrick, the owner, is friendly and knowledgeable. He delivered the ring back within the timeframe he estimated. Highly recommend this jeweler for repairs. He also has displays of jewelry for sale.

Recently, I needed to get my wedding band resized, so I started looking into getting my wedding ring set restored to the original and resized. The same corporate jeweler where my rings came from wanted to charge an arm and a leg and take weeks to fix the rings because they had to get shipped to a different site. Also, the sales associates were trying to get me to trade in my wedding set and buy a bigger ring. I checked with other jewelers, and they weren't being grifters, but they also gave an estimate that was excessive. I decided to visit Kings Contrivance to get an estimate for getting the wedding ring set resized, the prong of the engagement ring reset, and the center diamond replaced with a similar sized diamond. The owner was professional, knowledgeable, and straightforward as he carefully observed the rings and explained what work was needed and why it needed to be done. The owner gave me an estimate that was at least 30% cheaper than the estimates I had gotten. Plus, the estimated completion date was quicker too. He also guaranteed that that was the final price and included all costs, so there would be no surprise fees. I entrusted my rings with Kings Contrivance Jewelers, and he completed the work as promised and within the timeframe (about a week). My rings were resized and the prong and diamond were replaced. The work he did was outstanding. I'm glad that I entrusted him to fix rings that are so important to me. He got both rings looking like new. I highly recommend him and his services. I will continue to use his services in the future.

An older gentleman took the clock and told me to come back in twenty minutes. Exactly twenty minutes later I went back to the store and I asked him what the story was. He took one look at me and the expensive handbag I carry and said "$450." I was shocked. I asked him what was wrong with the clock. He was unable to provide me with an explanation other than "the guts need to be replaced." This is not an antique clock that is a 100 years old. It is a German Hubert Herr clock that was purchased brand new, eight years ago. Anyone that works on clocks that knows what they are doing will be skilled in taking the clock apart and only replacing what is necessary. Because the clock was running and he failed to provide me with any sort of explanation as to what was wrong and why the price was $450, I felt he assessed me as a person who has unlimited means and therefore was likely to pay the $450 without further scrutiny. The clock cost $400 eight years ago, brand new, when I purchased it. For what he wanted to charge me I could purchase a brand new clock from Hubert Herr in Germany! Upon taking the clock back home, I did not see any signs of the dust on the clock top being very disturbed from handling and examination. I question whether this man even opened up the clock at all! He also did not remove the weights from the bags I had put them in, which tells me he did not hang up the clock and test it, either. The bottom line is that I felt this person saw this as an opportunity to take advantage of a woman and there is no way I would take anything to this business for repair!
