The Saybrook is a lovely Inn. The rooms, amenities are just wonderful However, the codt for a manicure is outrageou, especially when your nails chip the very next day! When I called to relate this awful experience, they refused to give me a refund, or a gift card for another service. I strongly suggest you avoid a manicure!! read more

Just returned from a 3 day getaway . We had a terrific time . We had a king/ waterview room . It had a balcony overlooking the marina . The view was great and there is a fountain in the water that lights up in different colors , that was really amazing . The service is impeccable all around , everyone is polite and helpful . Unfortunately the indoor pool area was closed but we knew that in advance . Spa treatments were great . We'll definitely be back , but probably when the weather is warmer and we can enjoy the outside . Highly recommended . read more

Not unpleasant, but definitely did not live up to the reputation or expectations. Here's our experience from out weekend getaway. We checked in about an hour early and were pleased our room was ready. We had dinner plans so had been looking forward to drinks and "light bites" (featured on the Inn's web site) served in the bar while we killed a few hours. When we got to the bar we where informed they were not serving ANY food except the full brunch. Our only option was to spend $90 each on brunch (keep in mind dinner was just a few hours away). We asked if there was room service... "yes." We headed to the room and called room service. And again are told "no service because we are serving brunch." Bottom line, we scoured the hotel looking for any food options. Nothing. Except the $90 brunch. Fine. We decided to hit the gym. Pretty modest... "paramount" machines, some dumbbells but nothing above 50lbs, a few treadmills. Not great but enough to get some exercise. Dinner at Fresh Salt was very good, but the service was incredibly slow. It was close to 30 minutes from when we sat down until our drinks and appetizer arrived. The food itself was delicious - the sriracha calamari was crisp, sweet and a bit spicy. Really perfect. Our waitress was not great... friendly, but not in any way helpful. For instance, we asked how the grilled octopus is, and she said she "tried it once and it was ok, tastes like chicken." Any octopus that actually tasted like chicken would be horrible... but reasoning that she was just not great at waitressing, we ordered the octopus anyhow and it was very good. Smokey, tender, excellent flavor (and it did not taste at all like chicken). The tuna tartar triangles and both salads we ordered were likewise excellent. Our room (a junior suite) was very nice, decorated with a nice old-world nautical motif, spacious. Wonderful view of the marina and water too. The bathroom was very large with a nice jacuzzi tub (although only one sink, oddly enough given how large it was). Cute little balcony too. Unfortunately while the bed was very cozy, something must be off with it because we both woke up with strange back pain. I think there is just no support - feels great but you basically sink into it like a hammock. Room service is staggeringly expensive. Didn't use it much, but my small pot of coffee and tiny (but very tasty) Greek yogurt parfait came to $30. Most expensive half cup of yogurt I've ever purchased. We booked for a "spa getaway," so we're eager to explore the facilities. Alas, there really aren't any to speak of - the only jacuzzi and sauna is shared with the hotel so... full of kids and crowded. The spa itself consists of massage rooms, pedicure, and a small sitting lounge. The services were very good though - two excellent 80 minute massages (Swedish and deep tissue) followed by pedicures. Quite enjoyed it. Otherwise, sad to see all the outdoor venues were closed. I was looking forward to sitting outside by the firepit or enjoying a drink waterside - but apparently those areas are not open (no explanation). So bottom line: it's no Four Seasons, and the spa is really not a spa (just a massage/pedicure facility). Don't expect a lot of services (things seem to close often and early). But the stay was nice and the room really delightful. And the fare at Fresh Salt is delicious. Just be prepared to pay $5.95 per each shrimp in your shrimp cocktail. read more

As soon as I entered the lobby I knew I would love this place. Beautiful location, beautiful views, and the staff is the best! Friendly, helpful, you can tell they take pride in the work they do here at the Inn. Our room was Awesome! Huge bathroom, I actually had room for all my stuff! We had a cozy sitting area, a fridge, and a romantic fireplace. If you have the option, choose this place!! I hope I get to come back some day! read more

I attended my nieces wedding today and when asked for my entree selection I said meat and may I please have that medium rare to rare please ? Arrived was a dried out super well done piece of meat . I nicely asked for a piece less cooked . She brought back the same meal and stated " that's the best they could do "! Wow ! I told her she and the chef should be mortified to give such a response to a wedding guest . As far as the limes ..... just old stuff. read more

I got a gift card for christmas for the spa and was excited to use it before heading back to school. However, despite the friendly atmosphere and people, the service- manicure- was not what I expected for the cost. It was a 50 minute session that had limited color options and simple polishing; no gel. After the cost for this service, I expected it to hold up yet the next day my nails were all chipped when I woke up. I was not very impressed with the hold up. read more

The staff at Saybrook Point Inn are unbelievable. So nice, so on point, pun intended. The folks at the bar, Peter, Dillon, and Vincent could not have been nicer and had their act together despite the many wedding guests and other stuff going on. We ate outside and our server Erin had the best timing, and knew the menu inside out. Food was great. It was our 34th wedding anniversary trip. Wow, we picked the right place. read more

I feel I'm being generous giving this place 3 stars. There were limited pictures online. There was limited information. But what I thought was not what I got. For what it cost I expected much more. When we walked in the first thing I saw were the folding chairs on the tiny balcony. There was a fireplace that I found out later was wood burning and they only let you have wood during certain months There was no book or information about services. There was a QR code that still told you nothing. Thank God the waitress in the restaurant told us what was available through room service and what the hours were. The light switches in the bedroom didn't control anything and you had to get out of bed to shut off the lamps. There was no safe in the room. I could go on. Want to know the worst part? I wrote to them and told them to just stay in the room. I told them these things too. they never responded. read more

Clean, pretty , relaxing, all the paying attention you can get. 2 water salt pools and the customer service is superb. The cleaning crew is on point with it all. This is my 3rd time returning. Stay in the guest house for an affordable stay. I Recommend the main hotel always but it is all a wonderful experience read more

I counted 21 people in the pool, and each one had to ask for a towel individually. Why not put out a big stack of towels?

Atrocious, that is all I can say sadly and as you likely can see from my other reviews, this doesn't happen often. I'd prior been not only to the marina but also to the dining and inn options without fail to quality customer service but this time it was nothing shy of a nightmare, the marina "boss" was rude, inconsiderate, and of course ran us pretty much out of the facility with no chance of us ever returning again. For context, we called in advance, spoke with the marina, said we were planning a day on the water, wanted to go out of the marina and then while we were there have our electric vehicle charging and then when we returned we'd have a full charge on our EV as well as an option to dine at the restaurant. No problem, no issue, and all as we expected but upon arrival things went from white to black. The valet was parked in the EV spot with his own car, that had to be moved. The charger failed to deliver a charge while we were out on the water, the restaurant wasn't able to move our reservation even 15 min but worst of all was the marina and the "manager" who was there. We got the code to the docks from the staff valet, again, were told in advance not an issue to go out of the marina and so we let ourselves in and started to setup ourselves for launch. Approached by someone who repeatedly said over and over this was a private marina and that we weren't allowed, there was no convincing him that not only had we planned our day, called in advance, but that we were actually customers. This man had nothing but control in his mind, he was the man in charge and nobody could change that. We pushed past it, went out on the water, and upon return I went immediately to the director of operations and the front deck. We cancelled our reservations to dine, let loose on them about terrible customer service, and despite many attempts to try and convince me to take his business card I walked out with nothing but apologies for someone else's behavior without a single justified excuse. read more

I spent 2 days at the Saybrook Point Inn to celebrate the New Year. When we booked the trip, the main inn was full so we stayed in one of the new Guest Houses. There are 2 Victorian cottages across the street from the Inn that are very well appointed and very much like a bed and breakfast. The guest house was such a pleasure. With one other couple there we pretty much had the entire cottage to ourselves. There is a fireplace in each room, a fireplace on the living area that is comfortable and homey. On the 2nd floor of the cottage, there is a billiard room that was a really nice addition. They are still constructing the interior as the cottage recently opened and I'm looking forward to going once completed. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We wanted to rearrange our dinner reservation and the staff did their best to accommodate us. I would recommend a visit and plan to go again this summer. read more

Spent a weekend here and it was quite nice. The rooms are amazing and the service is great. The view to the water was nice and I enjoyed the pool, sauna and gym. The restaurants food is pretty good although quite expensive for what you get but I guess that's been like that here for many years. I would recommend this place especially for a wedding or celebration of sorts. read more

Spent the weekend at Saybrook Point. Kate, the Dockmaster, couldn't have been more on top of her game! We had no problem docking and tying up with her and Matt's help. Everyone at the marina went above and beyond to be helpful. Can't wait to return! read more
