No, this park wasn't perfect and I actually didn't dig the extensive paved unshaded pathway, but what I found most unique about the park was the many mature, gorgeous trees that had a fuller growth pattern than I've seen at most other parks. And yes, the creek is pretty and adds extra appeal, too. I was also glad to see young trees that had been planted in bare spots. There's a small but adequate free parking lot on Cedar Creek Rd, and street parking is also available. I hope this park continues to grow for generations.

Swimming is one of the most popular activities, but one can only do it while lifeguards are on duty. On the beach, visitors can enjoy access to play equipment for children, a food and refreshment stand, and a beach pavilion. However, as parking can be limited in Jim Thorpe on weekends, one could arrive early to secure a spot; otherwise, use one of the pre-paid reserved parkings at $26, including the parking fee and 2 round-trip tickets every Saturday and Sunday throughout October. A shuttle bus begins from this park at 10 a.m. and runs every 10-15 minutes to the Opera House, which my partner, his aunt and I did last Saturday while attending their popular Fall Foliage Festival.

The major negatives: the gentleman at the front desk, when asked a simple question about unchaining a table, basically blew me off and even though we'd been told it wouldn't be a problem, said it wouldn't happen. The showers have zero privacy when one is dressing. They have an alcove, but a 2nd curtain or door would be good. Overall a decent experience, but an experience that would likely be better elsewhere.

I really wish they would clean it up! Experience overall is great but I'm giving it a one star for their bathroom facilities because I cannot go here with a young child anymore. The park is well-kept and clean and it's a perfect afternoon or morning walk that is not too long. I think it's about 1.85 miles long if you do the whole track. But it has a nice little pavilion where you can barbecue and probably have a little get together. Lots of grass. The pathway is made of recycled, shredded rubber from tires I believe. It gives you a nice soft, cushiony feel when you walk. Throughout that trail you will see different exercise systems, that will help your exercise regime throughout. Incredible park to visit!

Six miles of asphalt trail surround Lake Galena. It is handicapped friendly. Plenty of benches along the path to sit and watch the water activities. We will be back later in the season to check out the wooded trails. We took a short walk then drove around to the other side where there were pavilions and a nature center whcih I will discuss in a separate review. From our brief visit, this Doylestown park has a lot to offer. Fishing, boating, picnicking, birdwatching and more. We will be back for sure to explore more.
